Chapter 5: Struggle

Translator: Vesper

Those words made Ning ng Yao unhappy and she put down the hoe. Her eyes turned slightly cold as she looked at Yang Xiu Er, “Even though I have my own things to do, didn’t I stop to teach you? You’ve asked so many questions, but are you able to rember all that you’ve learned? Are you sure you’re that talented?”

Ning ng Yao could not be blad for saying such hurtful words because Yang Xiu Er had made her feel uncomfortable by stepping out of line.

Yang Xiu Er’s face beca pale in an instant as she pointed her trembling finger at Ning ng Yao, “I only wanted to learn from you and earn so more money, why are you saying things like this to ?”

“Learning also has its own pace. If you don’t bother my daily activities then I will teach you, but I will not turn around for you,” Ning ng Yao was not the least guilty about Yang Xiu Er’s situation and told her off coldly.

Yang Xiu Er examined Ning ng Yao as a whole before taking her basket as she ran away while clutching her face. Ning ng Yao even heard her wail.

Ning ng Yao watched Yang Xiu Er’s back as she disappeared. Her eyes remained cold as she put her hoe back before taking out a barrel to the creek to scoop so water to water the vegetables.

After Yang Xiu Er returned to the village, there were so villagers who noticed that her eyes were swollen red and found it strange. Didn’t she go out to search for the girl who ca from who knows where? Why did she co back in such a state?

When Madam Luo saw her own daughter, she wanted to ask whether Ning ng Yao had taught her or not, but she beca unhappy when she saw her daughter’s state, “Xiu Er, why are you like this? Who bullied you?”

“Mother... Why did she treat so coldly? I just wanted to learn from her, but she beca mad at and belittled ,” Yang Xiu Er threw herself into her mother’s embrace while crying loudly.

There were villagers who were by the side. They began to make a fuss when they heard Yang Xiu Er.

The villagers originally did not have any good feelings towards Ning ng Yao. She arrived at the village out of the blue and then stayed at the small cottage at the foot of the mountain. The villagers could not help but have suspicions of her, to the extent of thinking that Ning ng Yao might be a bad person.

And now, the villagers’ voices beca louder after hearing Yang Xiu Er’s words.

“Don’t speak such nonsense, Yao Yao is not that kind of person.” In the midst of the crowd, a girl’s voice cut through the heated discussion with an explosive temper.

The crowd turned their head to see the village head’s daughter, Yang Le Le.

Although Yang Le Le’s was not tall, she was raised well in a well-off family. She had a chubby face, so she looked like a delicious at bun when she frowned.

“Le Le, what are you saying? Are you saying that Xiu Er is lying?” Madam Luo looked at Yang Le Le in displease.

Yang Le Le let out a ‘heng’ and looked at Yang Xiu Er in disdain, “Yao Yao is not this kind of person. Although she is sowhat cold, but she is a nice person. When I went to look for help in embroidering, she not only helped , but also gave delicious snacks to eat. Also...when a village’s child accidentally ran to her house, she did not get angry. Instead, she let him take a bath and even gave him so things to eat....”

After saying Ning ng Yao’s deeds one after another, she looked at Yang Xiu Er, “Although I don’t know what happened between Yang Xiu Er and Yao Yao at her house, I believe Yao Yao is not that kind of person so don’t you dare slander her.”

No matter how the villagers viewed Ning ng Yao, Yang Le Le would not believe it. In her heart, Ning ng Yao was a good person.

The people who listened to Yang Xiu Er beca a little awkward. The children who heard Yang Le Le’s imdiately ran over, their eyes glimring while looking at the crowd, “Big Sister ng Yao is very nice to us.”

“That’s right, that’s right. Big Sister ng Yao is really nice,” A few other children also jumped in to nod their heads continuously.

After the children went to Ning ng Yao’s house, they often ran to Ning ng Yao’s place to play or pick beautiful flowers outside her cottage. Every ti they ca, she never got angry; she even gave them candies and delicious snacks.
