Chapter 4: Uninvited

Translator: Vesper

“Hey, wait for a bit,” When that person arrived at the foot of the mountain and was about to make a turn towards another direction, Ning ng Yao called out to him.

Qiao Tian Chang had already noticed Ning ng Yao and he stopped once he heard her voice. A pair of calm and unperturbed eyes looked at her while carrying so doubts.

Ning ng Yao rubbed her nose embarrassedly after realizing that the tone she had used earlier was impolite.

“Can you sell to a pheasant that you caught?” Ning ng Yao walked to the side of Qiao Tian Chang and raised her head as she spoke.

Because they were far apart before, Ning ng Yao had just noticed that this man grew to be really tall once she was near him. Her 1.6 ter height seed to be like a child’s in front of this man.

Qiao Tian Chang nodded his head. He took a pheasant from his hand and gave it to Ning ng Yao.

“How much is this?” Ning ng Yao asked as she received the pheasant from him.

“Fifty wen.”

“Oh, good. Please wait a while, I’ll go get the money,” After saying that, she went to her house and returned not long later with the coins in her hand.

After receiving the coins, Qiao Tian Chang turned and left. The tip of his nose seed to have caught a whiff of her fragrance and the coins in his hands still carried her warmth.

Ning ng Yao turned her body and headed back to pack the pheasant she had bought. She would eat pheasant stewed with mushrooms in the afternoon.

Ning ng Yao didn’t plan on going out. She was about to begin embroidering her screen after eating. Right when she was about to begin, Yang Xiu Er brought an embroidery basket filled with embroidery threads, paddles, purse, and the likes.

Seeing her, Ning ng Yao then discarded her plan of embroidering and went to the edge of the house.

When she ca out again, she was carrying a very small hoe in her hands.

Looking at the hoe in Ning ng Yao’s hands, Yang Xiu Er clicked her tongue and complained, “ng Yao, why aren’t you doing any embroidery?”

She carried her embroidery here because she wanted to steal so skills from Ning ng Yao, but Ning ng Yao was carrying a hoe and going to the front of her field to water the vegetables.

Ning ng Yao lifted her head to Yang Xiu Er and laughed softly, “Yes, but the vegetable field has many weeds growing, I need to separate them.”

Yang Xiu Er took a stool and sat on it before putting her basket by the side, “That is just a trifling matter, separating the weeds from the vegetables can be done so other ti. The most important thing is to earn so money.”

She did not know how much Ning ng Yao’s embroidery could be sold, but she had a feeling that it would not be small.

“No need, I’m not worried over a small amount of money,” Ning ng Yao shook her head and ignored Yang Xiu Er. She turned around and carried on doing what she was doing.

Yang Xiu Er’s hands went slightly stiff. The fingertips of her rough hands that were holding the threads and needles went white and the expression on her face beca slightly ugly.

There was now a strange atmosphere in the air. One was doing embroidery while eyeing at the vegetable field from ti to ti, while the latter took no notice of the forr.

After sensing her gaze for quite a while, Ning ng Yao lifted her head to stare at Yang Xiu Er whose thoughts she could not read, “Do you need sothing?”

Yang Xiu Er nodded her head awkwardly and lowered her head to look at the embroidery basket before her eyes lit up, “ng Yao, help look at this embroidery. No matter how I do it, it always turns bad.”

Yang Xiu Er took a piece of silk handkerchief that had light colored flowers embroidered on it. It looked good, but the flower petals seed lacking sowhat.

Ning ng Yao halted her activity and walked towards Yang Xiu Er’s side before lowering her head to look at the handkerchief, “Don’t use flat stitches on this spot, use cross stitches instead. Why don’t you try?”

“Oh, okay.” She quickly redied according to Ning ng Yao’s instructions and realized that the finished product was much better compared to her previous one once she was done.

Yang Xiu Er nodded her head in satisfaction. But because of this, she would call for Ning ng Yao without stop whenever Yang Xiu Er had sothing she did not understand, which caused Ning ng Yao to neglect her own activity.

Ning ng Yao’s eyes flashed with annoyance. When Yang Xiu Er called her again, she only lifted her head to look by the corner of her eyes, “You can’t even do the things I just told you? Don’t bite off more than you can chew.”

Yang Xiu Er’s expression beca sowhat ugly for a mont. She felt that Ning ng Yao was being too petty for being unwilling to help her even though she treated Ning ng Yao as a good friend.

Not getting what she wanted, she glared at Ning ng Yao. Her gaze seed like wanting to eat her whole.

“ng Yao, I only wanted you to teach a little, why are you being so fierce about it,” Yang Xiu Er muttered softly as she looked at Ning ng Yao as if she was wronged.
