Chapter 889: Extra 5: Marriage Proposal (Part 4) Chapter 889: Extra 5: Marriage Proposal (Part 4) Jiang Feng was trembling.
Every part of him Wu Minqi couldn’t see, and the parts she rarely paid attention to, were shaking.
His feet were shaking, his legs were shaking, and even his hands hidden under the table were trembling, causing the slightly small ring that was a bit tight on his finger and causing so pain to shiver as well.
His heart was shaking, his eyelashes were shaking, and even his breathing was quivering.
He was extrely nervous.
His left hand was gripping the ring on his right finger so tightly that he accidentally pushed it too far, and then he couldn’t pull it off.
Fortunately, the Buddhas Jumping Over the Wall was delicious enough that Wu Minqi didn’t notice Jiang Feng’s small movents.
Wu Minqi was focusing on the food tasting.
She was soone who would concentrate deeply on anything she undertook, and as a result, usually succeeded at it, except for her brief stint studying chemistry in college.
In the matters of cooking and food tasting, Wu Minqi was particularly dedicated.
The forr was the career she had strived for her whole life, and the latter was her greatest hobby.
Even having a clear recognition of Jiang Feng’s culinary skills, upon tasting the bite of Buddhas Jumping Over the Wall in front of her for the first ti, Wu Minqi couldn’t help but sincerely admire the talent which made others envious, but which they couldn’t even bring themselves to be jealous of.
A dish that would typically take a common genius nearly a decade of diligent practice to master, her Fengfeng had incredibly learned to make in less than two years.
Rich and aromatic, each ingredient had been handled with utmost care, every flavor released perfectly in the mouth.
Diverse ingredients ca together in a small pot, simred over a low fla for twenty hours to fully release their flavors, presenting this exquisite dish majoring in mountain and sea delicacies most thoroughly.
Sotis, whenever Wang Hao ca to Taifeng Building for a free al and tasted Jiang Feng’s cooking, he would use exaggerated language, saying the dishes danced waltzes on his taste buds. Initially, Wu Minqi would just laugh it off, given everyone was used to Wang Hao’s hyperbole. But this ti, she felt there might be so truth in his words.
However, what she felt wasn’t just ingredients dancing a waltz on her taste buds; describing such a luxurious and complex dish that required careful handling of over a dozen precious ingredients with just a waltz seed too pedestrian. Its extravagant, regal taste was more like a grand ball.
The dancers vied for attention, each with unique characteristics and diverse, stunning attire, moving gracefully and too fast to follow, yet dancing harmoniously to the sa tune, achieving a sort of synchrony.
Wu Minqi was relishing the joy that the delicacy brought her.
Jiang Feng was struggling to remove a ring that seed to be stuck on his finger.
And his movents were getting more forceful.
It wasn’t really his fault—the ring was a size too small to begin with, and both of his hands were hidden below, hence without significant motion, the ring stayed stuck. When he realized he couldn’t possibly remove the ring without grabbing Wu Minqi’s attention, Jiang Feng glanced at Wu Minqi, saw her deeply engrossed in tasting the Buddhas Jumping Over the Wall, and made up his mind. With a grit of his teeth, he applied force and stomped his foot, and the ring ca off.
The spoon in Wu Minqi’s hand also ca to a rest.
Wu Minqi: ?
Jiang Feng quietly grasped the ring in his hand and smiled, “Qiqi, keep eating, you’ve still got nearly half a pot left.”
“No, thanks,” Wu Minqi pushed the small pot forward, “Ji Yue and the others are outside; they must have slled it by now. Fengfeng, I think you’ve succeeded with this Buddhas Jumping Over the Wall. It’s your first truly excellent creation. I should call them in to have a taste, right?”
Wu Minqi was not the type to indulge excessively in culinary pleasures; on the contrary, she was very good at sharing.
“No!” Seeing Wu Minqi about to stand up, Jiang Feng yelled unexpectedly, “Didn’t I tell you a mont ago that I have sothing to say to you after you’ve finished eating?”
Actually, Wu Minqi had forgotten, but Jiang Feng’s reminder brought it back to her mind.
“Fengfeng, you say it,” she said.
Jiang Feng began to reorganize the words he had been planning for days in his mind.
“Here’s the thing, the other night when I asked if there was any dish you hadn’t tried but really wanted to, I didn’t actually want to know which dish you were interested in. I just wanted to create a lasting impression, not… I an, I wanted to leave a deep impression on you.”
Wu Minqi looked at Jiang Feng, her face showing an unmistakable look of confusion that clearly communicated she didn’t understand what he had just said.
Jiang Feng didn’t expect Wu Minqi to understand; it would be surprising if she did, given the nonsense he had just spoken.
“I wanted to leave a deep impression because I feel so things need an extra elent, sothing you see that instantly reminds you of an event, and the fonder the mory, the happier you are when you’re reminded of it.”
“Important days are always worth rembering, but I couldn’t think of anything that could make it valuable, sothing worth commorating.”
“You might find the Buddha Jumps Over the Wall delicious today, but in two years, five years, or ten years, when you eat it again, you may not think today’s portion is all that remarkable. Culinary skills can improve, and mories can fade, I’m not expecting today’s Buddha Jumps Over the Wall to leave you with an extraordinarily beautiful mory, I just want to make today a little more special with this dish.”
Jiang Feng’s words were a bit disordered, but Wu Minqi gradually seed to understand.
“So,” Jiang Feng paused.
“So…” Wu Minqi subconsciously repeated his words.
Jiang Feng stretched out his hand, grabbed Wu Minqi’s left hand, and opened his right palm to reveal a ring that had been held in his palm for over five minutes. Despite the slightly dim kitchen lighting, it still shimred and glowed, stunningly bright.
“Qiqi, marry !”
When he confessed, Jiang Feng stood on a stage facing thousands of spectators, microphone in hand.
When he proposed, Jiang Feng sat in the sowhat chaotic kitchen of Taifeng Building, with only a ring.
What changed was the location, what remained the sa were the people.
And the smiles.
“Sure,” Wu Minqi said with a smile, no different from a few years ago.
But upon closer observation, one would find that her smile was even more radiant this ti, with a hint of surprise.
Wu Minqi opened her left hand, letting Jiang Feng slide the ring onto her left middle finger.
Plus, as the ring went on, Wu Minqi noticed what seed to be a fresh, ring-shaped red mark on Jiang Feng’s right index finger.
It looked as though it had just been made.
Wu Minqi’s smile deepened, but she pretended not to notice.
A caring girlfriend would tolerate all sorts of silly things her boyfriend did.
Oh no, that’s wrong, a caring fiancée would tolerate all the silly things her fiancé did.
With the addition of a ring on her left hand, Wu Minqi seed to forget what she had said about saving the rest of the dish for the people outside and quietly finished the remaining half-bowl of Buddha Jumps Over the Wall.
When Wu Minqi ca out of the kitchen again, Ji Yue had already cracked open half a bag of sunflower seeds.
There was no helping it, the tantalizing sll was too much, but in order to maintain her weight, she couldn’t eat more and had to settle for seeds to keep sothing in her mouth.
“Qiqi, the Buddha Jumps Over the Wall Jiang Feng made today really slls amazing,” Ji Yue slumped in a chair, cracking seeds, her face marked with sorrow and bla for not being able to eat the dish.
Sun Jikai’s focus was completely different from Ji Yue’s: “Did Jiang Feng’s Buddha Jumps Over the Wall turn out right?”
“Yes, it did,” Wu Minqi said with a smile.
She simply couldn’t help but be happy, and her joy couldn’t be hidden, even in the simplest of phrases and tone.
Wu Minqi walked over to Ji Yue and started cracking a couple of sunflower seeds.
Sharp-eyed Ji Yue imdiately noticed the ring on Wu Minqi’s hand.
“Hey Qiqi, that’s a nice ring you have there. Where did you buy it?” Ji Yue, who had never been proposed to, didn’t understand what a ring on the left middle finger ant, nor did the other two single dogs understand it, as Zhang Guanghang had just been lured away by Wang Xiulian to fetch so seafood and hadn’t returned.
“Oh, this?” Wu Minqi raised her hand, “Fengfeng just gave it to when he proposed.”
“Oh, so Jiang Feng just gave it to you…”
Ji Yue’s seed-cracking hands suddenly stopped.
Sun Jikai’s hand, ready to grab seeds, hung suspended in midair.
Ji Xue wore an expression that said I knew my gossip was on point.
“Proposal?”
“Just now?!”
“And we didn’t even see it!!!”
