Chapter 493: Chapter 491: Dog Food

January 17, 11:17 AM, Wu Minqi anxiously waited for Jiang Feng at the airport exit.

Wu Minqi’s hands were in her pockets because standing at the exit was quite cold, causing her face to turn sowhat pale. She wore the clothes Mrs. Wu ticulously matched for her, a fluffy scarf, black snow boots with two layers of insoles, and a red down jacket that was stylish but not very warm.

Worried that Jiang might be unfamiliar with the airport and couldn’t find her, Minqi intentionally stood at such a conspicuous spot at the exit, yet Jiang Feng hadn’t shown up.

Wu Minqi took out her phone, checking the ti for the 6th ti.

11:19 AM.

Even allowing for baggage claim, he should have been out by now.

More than 10 minutes ago, she had texted Jiang Feng, who had yet to reply. She had also made a call earlier, but although the phone was turned on, the call went unanswered, making Wu Minqi worry that sothing might have happened to Jiang at luggage retrieval.

Thinking thus, Wu Minqi decided not to just stand there, and instead walked inside to look for Jiang.

As she walked, Wu Minqi didn’t forget to take out her phone and make another call to Jiang Feng.

The exit was only so big, so Wu Minqi decided that if she couldn’t find Jiang after looking around, she would ask for help from the airport staff.

The airport bustled with people, nearly everyone in a rush dragging their luggage—either on the phone or looking for soone. Moving against the crowd, Wu Minqi didn’t attract much attention. She looked around, suddenly noticing that one corner was crowded with many people slowing down as if watching sothing.

Wu Minqi hurried to that corner and imdiately saw a familiar black suitcase leaning against the wall, adorned with a Peppa Pig sticker.

That was Jiang Feng’s suitcase.

“Fengfeng, Jiang Feng!” Wu Minqi began to push through the crowd.

“What is that person doing? Hopefully not so pervert.”

“Shouldn’t be, looks like he’s searching for sothing in the trash bin.”

Wu Minqi saw Jiang Feng.

Even though only half of Jiang Feng was visible with the other half in the trash bin.

The waste bin, about half a person tall—if Jiang tried, he probably could squeeze completely into it.

“Jiang Feng,” Wu Minqi called out.

Jiang Feng, absorbed in rummaging through the trash bin, didn’t hear her.

Wu Minqi silently took out her phone and dialed Jiang Feng’s number.

A familiar ringtone ca from the trash bin, and the person foraging grew more anxious, his movents becoming more frantic.

Wu Minqi: …

Alright, she knew what Jiang Feng was looking for now.

Five minutes later, Jiang Feng sat in another corner of the airport and sheepishly explained to Wu Minqi what had happened.

Simply put, as he got off the plane, he found the in-flight milk quite good, so he brought it along, sipping as he walked. When tossing out trash, he accidentally threw his phone into the trash bin while the milk carton remained in his hand, which led to the scene Wu Minqi had witnessed.

Jiang Feng should be grateful that this happened at the exit rather than in the terminal, for the trash would have been much more colorful than what he had just dug through.

Wu Minqi looked at herself, carefully dressed up, her hair curled, her outfit brand-new from head to toe, clean and neat, to the extent she had even applied a facial mask before leaving to prevent her skin from peeling due to the wind.

Then she looked at Jiang Feng, with ssy hair, disheveled clothes, and a down jacket with a piece of paper sticker from the trash bin still on it. Just five minutes earlier, half of him was in a trash bin.

Wu Minqi: …

Her feelings were so mixed that she couldn’t find the words to speak.

Well, she was the one who chose him, so she had to accept him.

“Qiqi, shall we now…” Jiang Feng looked embarrassed.

This situation where a woman happens by, discovers a crowd, looks closer, and finds a man buried in a trash bin digging through it, then, on closer inspection, realizes the man is her own boyfriend—if the protagonist weren’t her, she reckons he could laugh about it for half a year.

Resigned, Wu Minqi let out a sigh, “First let’s go to my place to drop off your things. You can take a shower and wash your hair, and change your clothes.”

“Your parents…”

“My dad is at the shop, my mom should be ho. My dad even asked Master Chen to reserve lunch for us today. If we head back now and you shower, we should be able to get to Master Chen’s place by 12:30 PM; that’s not too late,” Wu Minqi said.

“But with my current state, won’t your mom…”

Wu Minqi: …

“My mom won’t ask too many questions, and if she does, I’ll just tell her you accidentally fell into the trash bin. Let’s go, it’s already half past eleven, we need to hurry back.” Saying this, Wu Minqi started leading Jiang Feng towards the subway station.

Jiang Feng: ???

“Fell into the trash bin? Do you think your mom will believe that?” Jiang Feng, dragging his suitcase, followed closely behind.

Turning her head, Wu Minqi gave Jiang Feng a very fake and forced smile: “She probably won’t believe it if I told her I saw you rummaging through the trash, so it’s all the sa. Let’s go, I think falling in sounds better.”

Wu Minqi’s ho was very conveniently located near the subway station; a 10-minute walk from the exit.

For his first visit, Jiang Feng felt that even if he had just scrambled through trash bins, he had to maintain his basic image. Therefore, he tried his best to tidy up his hair and clothes before going upstairs. Despite the sll of milk, coffee, and so unidentifiable odors clinging to him, Jiang Feng pretended as if he had no scent at all.

Just as Wu Minqi opened the door, and Jiang Feng hadn’t yet stepped in, Mrs. Wu ca to the doorway.

“Qiqi and Jiang are back, eh? Put down the luggage and go to Chen…” My mother’s voice seed to hit the mute button the second she saw Jiang Feng.

“Little Jiang, it seems you had quite a rough trip. The airport must have been crowded, right?” Mrs. Wu struggled for a mont to keep the smile on her face; Jiang Feng, even after an attempt to look presentable, still appeared quite disheveled, like soone who had just been chased for a debt.

“Your room is that one, and the bathroom is there. There is water in the water heater, so you can go straight and take a shower,” Wu Minqi whispered.

“Auntie, I’m going to sort out my luggage first!” After saying this, Jiang Feng ran into the room with his suitcase as if he was fleeing for his life.

A minute later, he dashed into the bathroom with clothes in his arms.

Mrs. Wu: …

“What happened to Jiang? Why is he in such a ss?” Mrs. Wu asked, “What caused this? ”

“There were so many people at the airport, he accidentally fell into a trash bin,” Wu Minqi said expressionlessly.

Mrs. Wu: …

“Tell the truth.”

“When he was throwing away trash, he accidentally threw his phone into the bin. When I saw him, he was digging through the trash,” Wu Minqi explained.

“Pfft.” Mrs. Wu couldn’t hold back her expression and laughed.

Wu Minqi hadn’t found the situation funny at all. As Jiang Feng’s girlfriend, she was helpless and speechless when she saw Jiang rummaging through the trash, and even a bit embarrassed. But now, back at ho thinking about it, she found it quite funny after all.

She couldn’t help but laugh along with Mrs. Wu.

“Qiqi, what were you thinking when you saw Jiang digging through the trash?” Mrs. Wu inquired.

Thinking it over, Wu Minqi said, “At first, I felt pretty embarrassed, but now looking back, I find him quite cute.”

Especially when she called Jiang Feng, and he heard his phone ringing inside the trash bin, he was so anxious that he seed ready to dive into the bin just to find his phone—it was particularly endearing.

“Don’t tell your dad about this; let’s just laugh it off between us. We don’t want him to start disliking Jiang, and we don’t want Jiang to feel embarrassed,” Mrs. Wu said, barely able to suppress her smile. “I never noticed before, but the kid Jiang is actually quite interesting. Digging through the trash bin, only he could co up with sothing like that. No wonder I thought there was a strange sll on him.”

“Jiang probably wasn’t thinking much when he was digging. I’m going to pour him a glass of water,” said Wu Minqi, rushing over to get the thermos from the dining table.

“I’ll call Master Chen to tell him you’ll be late. Sigh, where is my phone? Where did I put it? What was I just doing?” Mrs. Wu began searching around the living room for her phone.

“Oh right, Qiqi, do you want Mom to wash so cherries for you? Grab a handful each on your way to eat, okay?”

“No need, Mom. Let’s eat them when we co back tonight. Jiang and I are going to have dinner at Master Chen’s place soon,” Wu Minqi replied.

Picking up the kettle, Wu Minqi could see the steam gently rising from the water, freshly boiled by Mrs. Wu. The cork had just been removed.

Staring at the kettle and clear glass, Wu Minqi thought for a mont and took out so lemon slices that Mrs. Wu had bought earlier in the year, placing two slices into the glass.

Hot water poured into the glass, and mist quickly ford on the sides. Rising with the steam was the fresh scent of lemon.

Looking at the lemon in the glass, Wu Minqi suddenly recalled a long-ago conversation with Ji Yue, who had explained the differences between Japanese and Korean dramas.

Korean dramas are about shining in everyone’s eyes, except when you look at .

Japanese dramas portray us as ordinary and insignificant in everyone’s eyes, yet we sparkle in each other’s eyes.

I like you because you dazzle with your liking.

I like everything about you, even if you’re half-buried in a trash bin.
