Chapter 528: Chapter 71: Ancient Corpse, Dark Shadow, Holes
In the empty void, a sea of thunder rolled in the sky, thunderclaps bood, resounding through the Nine Heavens.
Li Qingming and the others stood above the azure long river, staring fixedly at the cataclysmic scene below and even now felt a chill at the bottom of their hearts.
Shakyamuni looked at the colossal creature that appeared intermittently in the sea of thunder, with a fluctuating expression of shock, and said: “Master Li, do you know what that is?”
“Yes, Master, it’s truly terrifying!” Yang Jian’s face was extrely pale, his forehead still streaked with sweat.
Fire Spirit was the first to notice the huge creature above them and spoke: “Master, just now I glanced at it. One of them looks very similar to the statue in the center of Fire Feather City. The other, due to the hasty glimpse, I didn’t get a clear look. But I vaguely rember it was a creature with eight arms!”
“Very similar to the statue in the center of Fire Feather City!” Li Qingming and Li Qingquan exchanged glances, their eyes flashing with shock.
“Big brother, could it be the Fire Feather Ancestor?” Li Qingquan said.
Li Qingming did not reply, just gazed at the raging thunder in the distance with a solemn expression.
“Boom!”
The final bolt of thunder rained down, Divine Thunder split the heavens, creating a spatial crack tens of miles long, cleaving the firmant asunder.
As the misty fog cleared away, everyone observed intently.
“Hisss!”
This observation took everyone by surprise, stunning all the humans and beasts from Hua Xia Heaven and Earth.
“Divine Beast, Vermilion Bird!”
“Eight-Ard Demon Ape!”
Two exclamations rang out from the mouths of Li Qingming and Shakyamuni.
Above the firmant, on the left floated a majestic Vermilion Bird Divine Bird. It was nearly a thousand zhang in length; its crimson feathers emitted a smooth red glow. The Bing Fire energy was rich on its strong and elongated talons, and its wide-open eyes brimd with anger, hatred, and sorrow.
To the right floated a Chaos Fierce Beast, the Eight-Ard Demon Ape. Its body was several hundred zhang in length with eight arms, and its skin was covered with thick, dark fur. Its muscle tendons twined around its body like dragons and snakes, bulging and powerful. From its eyes, large as bronze bells, cold beams shot forth.
However, these were not living creatures, having been dead for goodness knows how many years.
Even so, tens of millions of Yuqing Divine Thunders failed to leave the slightest mark on their bodies.
“Isn’t that the Fire Feather Ancestor?” Long Xuhu pointed at the corpse of the Vermilion Bird Divine Bird and exclaid in surprise.
Li Qingming signaled Long Xuhu to quiet down and cautiously walked over.
Approaching them, the pressure beca even greater, overwhelming and making it hard to breathe.
“Boom”
Suddenly, a terrifying flux emanated from the Vermilion Bird Ancient Corpse, the flas reaching sky-high, the divine might supre, as if the Divine Bird was awakening.
“Holy shit, you’re telling this old thing is still alive?” Li Qingming lost his composure, if that were true, with Fire Feather Ancestor’s Chaos God Demon strength, they’d stand no chance, not even The Three Pure Ones would fare any better.
Flas soared as high as the Heavenly Dao, imnsely vast, like a continent floating in the void, splendid and dazzling, with Divine Fire leaping about, burning fiercely.
The five humans and six beasts trembled uncontrollably; the terror of the Vermilion Bird Divine Bird was extre, each of its crimson, fla-like feathers flowed with Divine Radiance, containing waves of the Bing Fire Path, seemingly ready to burst forth at any mont, suppressing Heaven and Earth.
“Swoosh!”
Suddenly, two terrifying beams of Divine Radiance shot out like lightning from the eyes of the Fire Feather Ancestor, piercing the heavens and plunging into the starry sky.
At that mont, aside from Li Qingming, Li Qingquan, Shakyamuni, and Xiong Da, the other seven Quasi-Saints were immobilized, unable to move an inch.
These were beings that could challenge a Late Quasi-Saint powerhouse, but now they were locked in place by just two beams of light, which was beyond belief.
“Fellow Daoist, what do you think?” Li Qingming, seated on Xiong Da, emitted an imposing pressure that directly overshadowed the surroundings, clearly using his Primordial Spirit.
At this mont, Shakyamuni’s eyes displayed a golden hue, and his ever-smiling face took on a hint of aged solemnity.
He brought his palms together, chanted a Buddha’s na, and said: “Amitabha Buddha! Fellow Daoist, in my opinion, the Fire Feather Ancestor must have been filled with deep resentnt before death. Over the years, the corpse has been affected by this resentnt and has already developed spiritual intelligence. Our rash entry here has likely triggered its ferocity. It seems a bitter battle awaits us!”
“It’s just resentnt, even if one has high Cultivation, can they really control the Fire Feather Ancestor’s corpse at will?” Li Qingquan scoffed.
“We do not wish to disturb Fellow Daoist’s ditative peace, we shall take our leave here!” Li Qingming pondered for a while and still chose to retreat, for engaging in a fight now would only lead to needless casualties. This was only the first stop on the Path to Heaven, and he did not wish to waste too much ti here.
As his words fell, Li Qingming released the Sleeve Universe, gathering the seven immobilized individuals, and imdiately flew towards the misty Array in the distance.
It seed the resentnt hadn’t fully awakened from its slumber; although it was still incredibly imposing, its eyes flashed with fear and relief.
“Fear? Relief? Wait, that’s not right!” Li Qingming glanced back hurriedly, shook with realization, then suddenly slapped Xiong Da, halting in his tracks.
Seeing Li Qingming halt, Shakyamuni and Li Qingquan who were following him also stopped imdiately.
“Big brother, what’s going on? Are we going to fight?” Li Qingquan’s eyes shone brightly as he stared at Li Qingming.
Li Qingming didn’t respond to Li Qingquan but flew directly towards that gigantic corpse.
“Big brother, be careful!” Li Qingquan cried out anxiously in his heart, hurriedly chasing after him.
Li Qingming waved his hand, indicating for Li Qingquan not to co closer, and said to the massive corpse only an arm’s length away, “Are you coming out on your own, or should I force you out?”
The space fell silent, except the overpowering aura seed to weaken slightly, displaying noticeable fluctuations.
“I’ll give you one last chance! Are you coming out or not?” Li Qingming’s expression grew colder by the second, now truly furious. With his own eye power comparable to the Heavenly Dao, he’d almost been fooled by a re imitation.
In the vast emptiness of heaven and earth, silence still reigned.
At this mont, Shakyamuni and Li Qingquan also noticed sothing amiss. To be fair, if one possessed such imnse strength and was provoked by re ants, who would care for any asured response? They’d have lashed out imdiately, blasting the provocateur to dust. Yet here it was dragging out the confrontation, full of bluster but hesitant to strike.
“Damn it! You’re forcing my hand!” Li Qingming roared in fury, unleashing his full power in an instant without holding anything back.
“Boom!”
Li Qingming crazily circulated his Mystical Skill, transforming into a hundred-foot-tall giant, surrounded by terrifying Tao Runes. His surging Blood Qi and physique were his most fearso weapons.
With a single punch, he aid directly at the scarlet translucid shimr floating over the Vermilion Bird’s body.
With a loud crack, his massive golden fist, weighing millions, penetrated the shimring screen, rapidly shattering the glowing shield that had existed for who knows how long into pieces.
Everything happened too quickly, Li Qingming’s attack was overwhelming, shattering all resistance on impact!
“Crack!”
The gigantic corpse, which not even Heavenly Thunder had damaged, didn’t even manage to put up the slightest defense and was pierced through the heart and lungs by Li Qingming—a surge of blood gushed out as its crimson heart crumbled to dust.
“Roar!”
The lying Vermilion Bird corpse suddenly shook violently, letting out a sky-shattering howl; curiously, the sound did not co from the massive corpse, but from within it.
“Whoosh!”
A black shadow around ten feet tall burst out from within the Vermilion Bird corpse, quickly fleeing towards the Eight-Ard Demon Ape’s body.
“Thinking of running? Stay!” Li Qingming shouted explosively, his body swirling with Qing-colored True Essence, as he stretched out his right hand, breaking through space.
A vast, starry-sea-like Yuqing True Essence flooded out along his fist, sweeping forth like the Nine Heavens Milky Way.
The Jade River was incredibly agile, twisting as it wrapped around the fleeing shadow.
“Roar, roar!”
The shadow began to struggle frantically, but no matter how hard it tried, it couldn’t escape the binding of the Jade River.
anwhile, the appearance of the shadow beca gradually clearer in everyone’s eyes.
“How co this thing resembles the Eight-Ard Demon Ape so much?” Li Qingquan remarked as he watched the continuously howling and struggling shadow.
Li Qingming was about to say sothing when he noticed the Yuqing True Essence binding the shadow suddenly swelling.
“Xiao Er, get out of the way, this guy is going to self-destruct!” Li Qingming shouted, lightly waving his sleeve and grabbing Li Qingquan, retreating at high speed.
The Yuqing True Essence around the shadow swelled, and through the dense black fur, one could vaguely see a pair of eyes filled with mockery and relief.
“Boom!”
The shadow exploded violently, and everything detonated.
Suddenly, a terrifying fluctuation descended, Swallowing Heaven and Devouring Earth, shattering the vacuum.
A pitch-black, imnse black hole, carrying a hint of the Great Dao’s divine might, appeared in mid-air, like a piece of the Heavenly Vault crashing down—its divine might was imposing and irresistible.
An unparalleled suction burst forth from the black hole, a ten-mile radius of space could not withstand this force, crumbling to pieces, even dragging the nearby Vermilion Bird Ancient Corpse and Eight-Ard Demon Ape’s body into it.
“Boom!”
In an instant, the Primordial Energy scattered, and the black hole disappeared without a trace.
Once again, the simple space beca empty—no more ancient corpses, no more fog, no clouds in the sky.
Letting go of Li Qingquan whom he was holding in his left hand, Li Qingming gave a wry smile and shook his head, “It seems all our hustle was for naught!”
“Damn, that was brutal!” Li Qingquan cursed as he looked at the empty Void.
Shakyamuni gave a slight smile, “Amitabha, what is lost is gained, with loss and gain interchanging, who can really say for sure!”
“Ha ha ha, Fellow Daoist Shakyamuni sure is open-minded! Alright, let’s go have a look at that Ancient Bronze Temple, maybe we’ll find sothing of value!” Li Qingming laughed heartily, waving his sleeve to bring out the people within, and headed towards the distant Ancient Bronze Temple.
