This voice sounded very pleasant and at the sa ti, it struck Ye Ming with an overwhelming sense of familiarity.

Following the direction of the voice, Ye Ming saw a familiar figure—it was actually his old classmate, Sun Miaomiao.

Ye Ming had a good impression of Sun Miaomiao, which was why he had helped her family out of a bind last ti. What he hadn’t expected was to run into her here.

At this mont, Sun Miaomiao had taken off her barbecue apron and was dressed in professional attire, wearing a light touch of makeup.

She was naturally cute, and even without makeup, she was quite appealing. Now with a bit of makeup enhancing her features and coupled with the exquisite professional attire, she practically shone in front of Ye Ming.

"Miaomiao? Is that you? Weren’t you in Hai City? What brings you to Yanjing, and dressed like this—are you in sales now?" Ye Ming asked politely.

Sun Miaomiao hurried over, laughing as she said, "I just felt like changing my profession. Staring at smoke all day, my dad was worried I wouldn’t get married."

That was what she said outwardly, but in truth, ever since the last incident involving Ye Ming, Sun Miaomiao’s family’s shop had closed down.

The reason wasn’t because of Ye Ming but because both Sun Miaomiao and her father felt they were not cut out for the cutthroat world of business.

Honest to a fault, they were always getting bullied. They had had enough of those days and, having received a sum of compensation money, Sun Miaomiao and her father decided to move to Yanjing in hopes of improving their lives.

Sun Miaomiao asked, "By the way, Brother Ming, what are you doing here?"

Ye Ming scratched his head, feeling a little embarrassed, and said, "What else would I be doing at the sales office? Of course, I’m here to buy a house."

"Buy a house?" Sun Miaomiao was shocked and could hardly believe her ears.

She knew Ye Ming was good in a fight, but she was equally aware that his family finances were modest and that he couldn’t possibly afford such an expensive house.

Especially since this wasn’t just any ordinary residential building—it was a villa.

At this mont, a sales colleague, Zhang Li, walked over with a snicker and said, "Oh wow, I thought this bumpkin was here to buy a house. Turns out, he’s here for you! If I’m not mistaken, this bumpkin must be your countryman from Hai City, right?"

"Just look at the way he’s dressed. You can tell people from small towns are all the sa—so unsophisticated it crumbles off of them. And then they pretend they’re here to buy a house, as if putting on airs won’t get them struck by lightning!" At this point, another colleague joined the mockery. Considering Ye Ming’s attire, she was utterly unconvinced that he could afford a villa here.

They were of average appearance but carried themselves with an air of superiority, barely giving Ye Ming a second glance, exuding an attitude of being above it all as if they had forgotten that they were just salespeople themselves.

Zhang Li sashayed over to Sun Miaomiao and, with a scrutinizing look, questioned her, "He’s buying a house? Sun Miaomiao, don’t tell you specifically hired a stooge?"

"I’m telling you, it’s pointless. If you’re going to hire a stooge, at least find soone believable. With this country bumpkin? He could afford a villa? Who would believe that if you said it out loud?"

"Everyone knows you’re just trying to fool the manager with this so you can get through your probation and beco a full-fledged employee here. We’ve all been there; we can see right through it. Do you take us for fools?"

The other colleague imdiately chid in, "Yesterday, Director Zhang personally approached you to sell that eighty-million villa, just to have you join a dinner, and you flatly refused. Now, afraid of being fired, you bring in a stooge to deceive us. Pretending to be a saint while playing the harlot, why act so pure?"

Subjected to such insults, Sun Miaomiao’s smile slowly faded and her eyes began to redden. Fearing that Ye Ming would notice, she hastily turned her face away.

Unfortunately, the glistening tears in her eyes were still caught by Ye Ming.

After their conversation, Ye Ming had almost fully grasped the situation.

Although they said it was just a drink, anyone with a brain could tell what was actually going on. It seed Director Zhang would only agree to buy the house if Sun Miaomiao agreed to sleep with him, an act Sun Miaomiao couldn’t bring herself to do.

"I didn’t..." Sun Miaomiao’s voice was laced with sobs, her face full of grievance, "that Director Zhang clearly had no good intentions, he didn’t want to just accompany him for drinks, he wanted to sleep with him."

Zhang Li sneered and said, "Then you should feel even luckier. With your looks, snagging a rich guy like that is like hitting the jackpot. Who knows, he might even buy a few more properties here in the future. Otherwise, with your limited abilities, you’d starve sooner or later."

Before Sun Miaomiao could even explain, a woman walked in through the door.

She said loudly, "Well said, that’s the awareness a salesperson should have!"

"We should all have the kind of awareness Zhang Li has. Only then will we make a profit, not like so people who mix in without wanting to pay the price, only ever idling around, scrounging for food and drink. Do you think I’m running a charity here?"

The woman strutted over and stopped in front of Sun Miaomiao, looking at her coldly and saying, "Your actions yesterday offended Director Zhang. It was only after I pleaded on your behalf that he agreed to give you another chance."

After speaking, the woman pointed outside.

Everyone’s gaze followed the direction of her finger and saw a chubby middle-aged man walking in.

His expression was stern, but his eyes revealed lust when he looked at Sun Miaomiao. After approaching her, he said harshly, "Little girl, consider yourself lucky that I’ve taken a liking to you. You should know, many people beg for the chance to join for a drink, and I don’t give them the ti of day. You’d better not push your luck!"

"I have plenty of money, and I don’t have to pick a villa from this place. I spend money just for pleasure. I’m giving you one last chance – are you in or out?"

The man speaking was none other than Director Zhang, who had co by the day before.

His words had already moved Sun Miaomiao’s colleagues deeply; they were envious and wished they could be in Sun Miaomiao’s place to have a drink with Director Zhang.

Selling an eighty-million villa would result in at least a six-figure commission, like a pie falling from the sky. With such a hefty sum tempting them, what was chastity worth?

Therefore, at this mont, they were even more hostile towards Sun Miaomiao.

Sun Miaomiao bit her lip tightly, her body shaking.

She had found this job with great difficulty, hoping to live a stable life in Yanjing, but now she was faced with this calamity.

There was absolutely no way she could agree to Director Zhang’s demand.

Just as the situation beca deadlocked, Ye Ming suddenly spoke up, breaking the impasse.

"Sell a villa. I want to buy one," he said.
