Si quickly ca to his senses and didn’t allow his companion’s state to last too long.
He then used his other hand to cover the other’s mouth, and in return, received a bite from the shocked companion.
Si grimaced in pain imdiately.
Su Li, seeing the muscles on Si’s face twitching in pain, felt a tinge of pity.
She patted her chest with a look of relief, thankful she hadn’t ddled; otherwise, the one twitching ungracefully would be her.
"Eh, the wolf... The wolf has disappeared..." Just as Si realized that there was a hungry wolf up ahead and that they couldn’t always linger on little matters, he turned his head to look forward and, strangely, the hungry wolf was nowhere to be seen.
Si’s heart leaped to his throat.
He feared that the animal would suddenly appear behind them and pounce when they least expected it.
That would genuinely be life-threatening.
But Si’s worries seed to be unnecessary.
The group, with hearts in their mouths, cautiously gathered back to back, vigilant in all directions.
Yet after a long wait, the hungry wolf never reappeared, possibly scared off by their numbers.
But then ca the problem: Little Red Riding Hood had also disappeared.
Rourou called out anxiously, "Oh no, Little Red Riding Hood has run off. She might have encountered the wolf again... We should hurry to check."
With Si leading the way, they all ran directly towards the foot of the mountain with clear purpose.
Really...
With their sense of direction, they could walk for a day and a night and probably still not reach their destination.
Su Li kindly reminded them, "The path to the mountain top goes this way."

The window of the wooden hut was opened from the inside.
An elderly lady with graying hair stood inside, smiling kindly at the people outside.

The old lady indeed was sick; just a few words had drained much of her strength.
She held her chest, occasionally coughing, and it was evident she was trying her best to suppress the itch in her throat.
Little Red Riding Hood t the old lady’s rebuke with silence, her head bowed, lost in thought.
At this awkward mont, Si and his companions felt embarrassed and unsure of what to do.
They thought they were helping, but upon reflection, their uninvited actions were indeed annoying.
But they couldn’t just co out and say it.
Were they to say, "Soon, you’ll be eaten by a wolf, swallowed whole, and we ca to save you," they would likely be kicked out as madn.
In this strange silence, Su Li suddenly interjected, "Old lady, it’s better not to eat too much sweet food when you’re sick and coughing; it will make you cough even worse."
Su Li’s comnt made the old lady’s eyes snap in her direction.
Su Li blinked innocently, "Uh, isn’t what I said correct?"
The old lady coughed lightly, a smile appearing on her face, "No, you’re right. When you’re old, eating too much sweet stuff isn’t good for the body."
Anian, Si, and the others listened to Su Li’s conversation with the old lady, their faces filled with blank surprise.
They had no idea there was so much to consider.
Reminded by Su Li, Little Red Riding Hood then turned her head remorsefully towards the old lady and apologized, "I’m sorry, Grandmother, I didn’t know that you shouldn’t eat too much sweet food when sick..."
Following that, her face showed regret, "But these were all made by Mom and especially for you. I thought you’d like them."
The old lady’s gaze flickered, and upon closer inspection, her smile seed to carry a tinge of bitterness.
She changed the subject, asking, "Little Red Riding Hood, how are your parents doing lately?"
On hearing this, Little Red Riding Hood tried to smile, "Everything’s fine. Don’t worry about us."
"The cake on the table is a new recipe my mom learned recently. Try it, it’s really delicious."
"Just a small bite shouldn’t be a problem..."
