According to Devon, the dungeon they were subjugating was a cave, and things were going smoothly, but then, after taking out the boss monster, the entire dungeon began to tremble.

"What... What’s going on?"

And before they knew it, tentacles sprung up from the thick floors and started attacking them.

They fought as hard as they could but the tentacles were next to impenetrable.

"Hold your ground," Devon yelled. "And head for cover. Do not fight the tentacles head-on."

But it was not as easy as it was said.

The tentacles didn’t even give them the chance to retreat.

And then, the tentacles stopped swinging about and stopped straight like pillars.

It gave them a mont to catch their breath but knowing they weren’t safe, Devon decided they had to head back to the gate.

Since the boss monster was killed, it was only natural for the gate to open but before that, their system screens ca up, displaying a red warning sign.

/Warning! Warning! An unidentified monster approaching./

"Unidentified? What’s that?"

It said it was an unidentified but while they were still confused, a figure walked out of nowhere and into the shadows, making its presence known.

The aura around him was rather ominous and while he stood in the shadows of the tentacle, he grinned.

The only thing they could see was its red eyes.

With this, they couldn’t even be sure if it was a man or a monster pretending to be a man.

The warning did say unidentified monster so they had to watch out.

"Hm, I sll it." They spoke, and their voice sent shivers down the spine of each and every one of them.

Even Devon, who was an S-class, trembled at its words.

"I sll that diabolic child on one of you. So tell , who is it?"

They spoke straight English but for so reason, the mbers could not understand what they were saying.

They were still hung up by the chills it sent down their spine.

But Devon knew that just being quiet would not solve their problems so he decided to step up as the leader and guild master.

"Who are you?" He asked and the figure disappeared from there, suddenly appearing behind Devon and binding his movent.

He could not even react when the threat was right behind him and all he could do was tremble in fear.

"Hm, I sll it so strongly coming from you." They said.

Devon could not even look back but the mbers who saw the figure right behind Devon were struck with horror.

Their weapons dropped from their hands, clattering loudly and they fell to their weak knees.

"Ah, have you been indulging with that thing because it slls so much on you?"

Devon had no idea what it was talking about or what sll they were referring to but... The situation was beyond serious.

They would all lose their lives at this rate.

"What... do you... want?" Devon managed to ask.

"I want ’it’." The figure said and only for a brief mont, Devon was able to glance back and see the figure for himself.

It was like a mass of shadow in the form of a man, and its eyes were glowing red. Dangerously red.

It was as if he could sll fear and that made it so delighted. But for so reason, Devon knew that ’fear’ wasn’t the sll that caught the attention of the figure and made it so delighted.

"It slls so strongly on you. Tell , are you its lover? Do you two indulge in each other’s bliss?"

"I don’t... Have a lover." Devon said. "And I don’t know what you’re talking about."

The dungeon once again trembled and rocks started falling from the sky.

"I think my ti is up," it said. "But I want to take back a souvenir," it added and looked at Devon’s arm. "It slls strongly over here." He said and in the blink of an eye, it had taken Devon’s arm and stood in the shadows of the tentacles.

For a minute, Devon did not feel the pain of losing just their arm; all he felt was the emptiness, but as soon as the figure smiled, blood splatted out, and imnse pain filled his entire body.

And at the sa ti, so of the rocks that fell landed on his raid mbers and while he scread in pain, they were almost crushed to death.

The rumbling stopped after the figure had disappeared and the tentacles had retracted back into the ground from whence it ca but... The aftermath was dire.

They were dying. The healer in their party was barely able to hold on with both legs crushed. Their tank, the one that could’ve lifted the huge rocks from on top of them, his upper body was crushed, but he was still breathing.

All were barely alive and Devon decided to make the sacrifice. He used the elixir for every last one of them, but what was left was barely enough to grow back his arm, so he kept it and let the healer heal him to stop the pain and the bleeding.

And just like Damian’s situation, the healer had also moved up from an A-class healer to an S-class. It was incredible and basically a blessing in disguise, but Devon asked him not to speak of it until he knew what to do about the situation they had encountered.

So, when he saw Damian and heard he had advanced in his rank after taking an elixir, he understood the effects only worked for healers since they had similar healing properties.

However, he was still shocked at how much his little brother had grown. He was now the sa height as he was. Was it still possible to patt him that way?

But moving on, the fact that sothing like that happened inside a regular gate and no one had noticed it from the outside was very disturbing.

And what did it an by sll? Devon still couldn’t understand it.

"The system said unidentified monster," Devon said, looking at the new arm that had regenerated thanks to the elixir.

The procedure of his arm growing back was disturbing to watch but he watched it till the end to remind himself that it was only possible to get a new arm thanks to Alice’s help.

So, he couldn’t do what Alice did not like.

"Alright, I’ve heard what you have to say but I do not approve that that was the best course of action." Alice said and got up. "You survived, yes, but in a situation where your life is on the line along with the rest of your guild mbers, make sure to think selfishly first. But if you can’t think on your own behalf," she clenched her fists, showing her slopped back as she said, "Think of how I’d feel if I heard the news that you suddenly died trying to sacrifice yourself." She walked away, leaving them to stare at her.

She didn’t even say anything about the mysterious figure that took his hand like she was trying to avoid the topic.

"Oh and, also think of this." She stopped at the foot of the stairs. "If you dare to die while sacrificing yourself for other people, I’ll make sure to kill them with my own hands, and then when you et up there," she pointed at the sky but then dropped her hand, her gaze turning ice cold. "... What am I even saying? There’s no way they’ll et you up there. They’ll go to hell because they’re the reason why a kind soul like you had to die." Her cold tone sent shivers down the spine of everyone who heard her voice. "Devon, if you die for anyone, I’ll send them to hell after you’re gone. Rember that."

With that said, she climbed up the stairs and shut the door of her room.
