The Fate Of The World Is In My Hands, But All I Want To Do Is Eat! Chapter 332: Devon lost an arm
That day was quite eventful, with a lot of bloodshed and such, but after all of that, Alice was able to sleep like a baby with no nightmares or discomfort after what she did.
She had Leo to thank.
And then the next day, at noon, Alice was woken by Devon’s voice. Honestly, she wouldn’t have bothered waking up, getting out of her bed, and just continuing sleeping.
But in that mont that she blinked, recognizing Devon’s presence in the house, she heard Mark ask in a rather shocked tone,
"What happened to your arm?"
And to which Devon answered awkwardly,
"Can’t you tell? I lost it."
These two lines prompted Alice to get up from her bed at once, and she dashed towards the stairs, panting like she had run a marathon to see for herself what exactly was going on.
"What’s this I hear?" She asked, staring at Devon who secretly tried to hide the fact that one of his sleeves had no arm in it.
Her eyebrows furrowed as she asked,
"What happened to your arm?"
Alice had given Devon an elixir when she distributed all of them during the crimson griffin and eclipse dragon attack.
There was one bottle left, so she handed it to him, asking him to use it whenever there was an ergency, and he lost a limb or two.
But here he was, standing in the living room of her house, missing an arm and behind him was... Damian who averted his eyes with a little guilt on his face.
"Can you please not tell you decided to play hero?" Alice said as she stomped down the stairs angrily.
"It was an ergency," Devon said. "The healer couldn’t do anything and my mbers were crushed. I had to save their lives..."
Alice grabbed his arm and asked,
"And leave yourself deford?" She yelled.
The anger on her face was scary. She looked like she would blow up any mont.
"Answer ," she demanded harshly. "Did you act so careless because you felt you would be okay so long you were alive? It didn’t matter to you that you’d live the rest of your life with one arm or..." Her eyes squinted. "Were you just confident that you would co back to and I’d give you another bottle to heal up your arm and give you a new one?" She yelled. "I won’t be able to heal you if you co back to dead!"
"Alice," Devon called, his face twisted in pain but he did not talk about that. "How will I answer if you don’t give a mont to speak?" He asked and Alice noticed the pain on his face.
"If you keep squeezing like that," Leo spoke from the top of the stairs. "You’ll help him get rid of the second hand as well."
She imdiately realized she was squeezing too hard on his arm and imdiately let go.
"Now, calm down and listen to what he has to say," Leo said with a lazy tone.
He had seen her when she rushed out of the room all of a sudden and wondered what got her all fired up.
He walked out and leaned on the railing while watching. Alice’s abnormal anger... What could be the cause this ti?
Well, she must’ve been acting on her fear or sothing like that.
If Devon could give up his arm to save his guild mbers then who’s to say he wouldn’t give up his life as well?
She must’ve been thinking of that when she heard his first explanation.
"Devon," Alice called after taking in a deep breath. "You said your life belongs to ," she looked up at him and the heavy rage in her eyes frightened him. "You better not forget that. I know I said I didn’t need you to pledge your life to , but I’m starting to think I’ll have to rethink that decision. Your life... Is too precious that I want to hold on to it myself." Her expression was serious and dark.
They had never seen Alice like that before. She felt so frightened and, at the sa ti, so cool.
"No matter what the situation, if I don’t allow it, you can’t make sacrifices, Devon. You just can’t." She said and walked away, leaving them dumbfounded.
Was that really the attitude of a hero? She would rather give up the lives of the masses and save the ones important to her. Kind of selfish, but she was still human, so who could bla her?
But this made one thing clear to them, Alice valued their lives far more than anything else. So long as the person she cared about was safe and sound, everyone could die for all she cared.
And this feeling... Made Devon feel special. Knowing she thought so highly of him that she wouldn’t let him go, she even thought of holding on to his life... His heart wouldn’t stop racing.
"What are you waiting for?" Alice yelled from the chair she had sat on. "Co, I can’t stand the sight of you with only one arm. It pisses off."
Though she was mad, she wouldn’t let it stop her from healing him. Thankfully, she still had a few of her potions and elixirs. She also got the one she sold off to the auction from their safe, so she restocked it once more.
"Can I apologize?" Devon asked, sitting next to her.
"Don’t. It’ll only piss off." She said. She was feeling very moody. "Now, start by telling what kind of ergency arose that you had to sacrifice your arm to save others?" She asked while taking out the elixir from her ring.
"But before that," Devon said, "I’d like to thank you for helping Damian advance to a B-class awakened."
"Oh, that?" She glanced over his shoulder at Damian who stood with his back slouched. "That’s right. That did happen."
"And thank you for taking care of him while I was aware. You’re doing more than I can ever repay for."
"And yet you co back to with a missing arm," she hissed and he smiled nervously. "But I’m surprised you aren’t taken aback by his appearance change."
"Well, no matter how his looks change, I can always tell my brother apart from others." He confidently said. "He’s my blood, after all."
’Yeah, and it’s making glad that I didn’t stain your blood with other people’s filthy blood.’ she thought and sighed.
Her anger had gotten the best of her for a mont. She was worried that this was just the first step and Devon would go as far as giving his life up.
If that was the case, she would rather have his life chained to her for good. No one was allowed to die this ti around.
"Now, tell , what was this ’ergency’?"
