The Fate Of The World Is In My Hands, But All I Want To Do Is Eat! Chapter 214: Do you think a past enmity could’ve transcended
From outside, Clarissa, in the company of her friends, watched what was going on, and Clarissa frowned. Just why was Alice getting so much attention? It was irritating.
Alice’s ear perked up and she turned to look outside. There was Clarissa, Steph, and Maki, and among them was Clarissa, who was glaring daggers at her.
Ah, she found her very first potential hater once more.
’Oh, Clarissa, was it? Mind explaining why you hate so much? After all, we only just t today, right?’
Leo turned to look through the window as well. Maki and Steph noticed they were looking at them and urged Clarissa,
"Hey, Carissa, shouldn’t we get going?" Maki asked but Clarissa was so deep in her hateful gaze that she did not realize Alice and Leo were looking at them.
"Hey, snap out of it." Steph pinched her, which jolted her out of her thoughts. "People are going to start suspecting us for no reason, so let’s go."
"Oh, right."
They had still been in school to help Clarissa plan out her schedule since she was the team leader for Group A. And now, Clarissa was acting all strange again.
"I don’t know what’s co over you, all of a sudden." Maki said. "You just seem to hate Alice even if you just t. Why is that?"
"I wish I had the direct answer but it’s complicated." Clarissa said, dropping her hand on her head to clear her thoughts. "I just hate her."
Alice watched them leave and then said,
"It’s very uncommon for a person to hate you as soon as they et you, right?" She asked and turned to Leo, "So, from my mories of my past life, did I make a sworn enemy out of that girl?"
Leo shook his head right away. If there was such a thing as a sworn enemy then he would’ve surely seen her in her mories. But there was nothing like that.
A face like Clarissa would be difficult to pass too. She may not be the most beautiful but her blonde hair was definitely one to take note of.
"Do you think a past enmity could’ve transcended to this life?" He asked but she shrugged.
"I don’t know. You tell ." She dropped her hands. "Is it possible?"
"Well, it is." Leo answered. "But if that’s the case, then your actions must’ve led her to hate you, and she hated you in the background and never got to approach you with her hatred. If not, I would’ve definitely recognized her from your mories."
"Hm, I see." She glanced back at the window, even if Clarissa was no longer there.
The food finally ca in and their table was filled. Since they were trying all the dishes, they needed an extra table to drop the rest of the dishes and Leo said,
"I don’t want to hinder your work so you can keep the rest till we’re done with this here."
Alice took in one long sniff of the food, a good inhale, and exhaled in satisfaction. This was food heaven. There was spicy and greasy food, there was dry and hard food too, and... Well, she would just start with the soft ones.
They were there to check her appetite and if it was back to normal. Leo didn’t need to tell her that before she realized it. Ah, that was why he said she was just too lazy to use her brain, that’s all.
Once she tried to think of why he wanted her to eat out, she realized the reason.
’But really,’ she picked up her fork and spoon. ’He gives more credit than I deserve.’
Leo smiled at her, hearing her thoughts. Once she noticed his smile, she snapped.
"Leo, are you listening to my thoughts?" She asked and he laughed. "Quit it."
Alice ate the first few places and so far, there wasn’t anything to worry about. She was eating like she normally did but less rowdy this ti.
The people at the restaurant were shocked they ordered so much, but they couldn’t spend all their ti there so they had to leave after finishing their own al.
Alice ate everything and Leo sighed in relief.
There was no issue after all. Maybe she had just been under the weather after all. Then, was it the nervousness of starting school that made her unable to eat?
It was possible.
When under stress or pressure, one tends to feel full. But he just didn’t think that would apply to Alice.
"Thank you for the al." Alice announced, smiling happily.
The waitress was beyond shocked and so were the others who managed to stay from the beginning to the end of Alice’s ’eating-capade’. Never in their lives had they seen anyone eat so much and with such a small body as well.
"We’re ready to pay." Leo said, and the waitress finally tore her bewildered gaze from Alice.
"Ah, yes. Yes." She handed Leo the checkbook and Leo handed it over to Alice.
She took a look at the numbers and then handed it back to Leo.
"Is that okay with you?" Leo asked. "Or do you want to order more? We still have ti,"
"No, it’s fine." Alice said. "Once we get ho, I’ll reheat the food in the flask and eat that. I can’t let Mark’s efforts flush down the drain."
’She still wants to eat after getting ho?’ The waitress was beyond baffled. Where did this beautiful yet impossible girl co from?
And how was all that food able to fit in that flat stomach of hers?
Since they couldn’t pay in cash, it would be too suspicious if they took out a wad of cash out of nowhere, so Leo decided to use Mark’s card.
On their way out, he said,
"Hm, one of these days, let’s open a bank account and deposit all your money into it." He suggested but Alice was too satisfied to care. She clung to his arm and said over a sleepy yawn,
"Do whatever you want."
He looked down at her and smiled. She was so simple to satisfy.
He flagged a cab and they got in.
The day was satisfying for him too. As an immortal being, this experience was rather simple but enjoyable.
As soon as Alice got ho, she hit her bed right away.
"You still have to take your bath." Leo said to her while helping her take off her shoes.
"Yeah, I know." She said and dropped her hand. The flask appeared from her ring and she said, "I’ll eat this after taking my bath."
"I know, I know. So hurry up and take your bath. I can’t go down on my own, you know."
Mark wasn’t at ho. He was probably at work, as they presud, and so, they would do everything else on their own.
"Hey, we still have howork to do." Leo said while leaning on the bathroom door.
"Ugh, already?" She exclaid. "They won’t kill if I don’t do it, right?" Leo chuckled.
"They won’t." He said. "But don’t worry, I’ll do it for you."
"Thanks, Leo." He knew she wouldn’t do it even if he said it to her. He just wanted her to be aware of it, so she doesn’t get caught off guard when asked the next day.
He went silent, his expression going still and calm. He was still thinking of this simple and peaceful life.
If not for the monsters and demons posing a threat to this simple and peaceful life, it would’ve been perfect, honestly.
