"The past?" The heretic frowned, unsure why the son of the Demon King would ask such a question.

He had not even been born back then, so why was Caliste asking questions about it and being so invested in everything surrounding it?

Those were questions that always circulated in the back of Fleur’s mind. But she had never gotten the guts to ask them. After all, she was almost sure that Caliste would simply dodge the question and never answer it.

"Yes, the past. Within your group of heretics, do you have any information on what went down?"

The guy frowned even more. "Ugh... I only know that we made peace with humanity for a strange reason. It was very strange since we had just killed their strongest asset. The Demon King should have continued the conquest of the world after that."

Caliste had a small reaction when he ntioned the "strongest asset," since the man was talking about himself.

Still, it seed like he would not get any information from this man.

It was clear that he was low-ranked and wasn’t privy to such information.

’The heretics. They might be the way for to gain knowledge of the past. They might not have been affected by the changes to history. The Demon King might have even overlooked them back then...’

Caliste started to think that maybe they were the key to everything.

He needed to find out why his past friends had betrayed him without a second thought.

There had to be more than peace at play.

Caliste knew that his friends hated the Demon King. All of them did.

They had betrayed him, but it had to be for a good reason. Caliste was their friend; they had joked for so many years that there was no doubt about it.

And while he wanted to take his revenge, he wanted to know the behind-the-scenes of what happened back then. It wouldn’t change the fact that he would take his sweet revenge on them, but it would better explain their choices.

The life of a man for the life of many.

A sacrifice in a way...

"Would the one in charge know more about this?" Caliste asked with a frown as he was already getting ready to kill this man.

"M-Maybe... he’s higher ranked than . So, there’s a chance that the organization had told him about it."

Caliste nodded as he killed the man in cold blood under Fleur’s gaze, who seed perturbed by how coldly he was acting.

She had never seen anyone kill soone so easily. There had been no hesitation. It was as if Caliste had killed countless tis in his life. But such a thing shouldn’t be possible considering who he was...

Fleur knew there were a lot of strange things about Caliste, and she would keep supporting him. But the way he acted was very strange. There was no doubt about that part.

"D-Do you want to attack their camp head-on?" Fleur asked, her worry growing.

Caliste was not acting like his normal self. He was a lot more aggressive than usual, almost impatient all of a sudden. He wasn’t spending any ti to think about his actions; he just acted on his impulses, and such a thing was dangerous for a quest of this difficulty.

"Yes. You saw how weak those two were. There’s no doubt that the rest of them will also be pitifully weak."

Caliste started walking south, the opposite direction of what the man from earlier said.

He knew that he was close, so he was discreet about it. However, he couldn’t wait to deal with everyone hiding in that camp. It was ti for them to receive a good beating to put their ideas back in place.

’Let’s see just how much your dumbasses know about the past and history.’

He walked forward without a single doubt in his mind as Fleur struggled to keep up with his pace.

’W-What’s happening to him?’

"W-Wait for ," she tried to say; however, she couldn’t even talk normally because of where they were.

If soone from the enemy camp heard her, then she would be in deep trouble.

A few minutes later, they arrived at the camp location. Caliste waited for Fleur, who was starting to be out of breath from the constant walking.

"L-Let’s take a small break... please," she whispered as she rested against the tree, even sitting down.

Caliste had moved extrely fast, like he had no ti to waste at all.

Fleur wasn’t sure if that was related to seeing his sister again, but she didn’t like this new version of Caliste.

It was not the person she knew.

"Five minutes..."

"C-Can I talk to you about yesterday?" Fleur suddenly asked, thinking that this was the best ti she would be able to speak on it since once they went back, Caliste would be spending his ti with his sister.

"Sure... what about it?" Caliste asked as he rembered how long of a night he had spent with her mother.

"I just wanted to apologize. I was rude to you, and I thought that you were lying to . But... I know that I was wrong, and I’m sorry about it."

Caliste smiled, as it seed that Fleur believed she was the one in the wrong for yesterday.

That was better than he could have ever imagined.

Now, he truly had both mother and daughter. However, Caliste knew that the shock would be big once she found out that he had slept with her mother.

There was a chance that she might be devastated about it. Actually, it was almost certain, but Caliste didn’t care.

"It’s fine. I accept your apology."

Fleur was happy that Caliste didn’t seem to mind her behavior from yesterday as she blushed.

"Y-You still like , right?"

Caliste and Fleur were currently hiding behind a sowhat large tree, their bodies touching against each other.

He just smiled as he turned his head and kissed her on the lips.

"Of course."

However, as Caliste gave her a kiss, soone who had been watching nearby started frowning—his sister.
