Upon hearing Noah Zimrman’s words, Camilla Sullivan looked at him with a more nuanced gaze.
He didn’t recognize such a big person like her, yet he recognized a surfboard instead.
Although this surfboard was indeed custom-made for her and her favorite, discovering that people noticed the board more than herself made her feel both annoyed and amused.
For so reason, even though Noah Zimrman hadn’t presented any strong evidence, Camilla Sullivan instinctively felt that this Noah Zimrman was the one who saved her from the sea and brought her back to the shore that day.
George Goodman, standing nearby, turned ashen upon hearing Noah Zimrman speak.
It really was him!
Why?
Why did such good luck fall on this person?
Anyone else would be fine, but it had to be soone that Ian Whitley brought out to get revenge on him!!
Why was his luck so poor?!
Years ago, he went through so much trouble, even framing Ian Whitley to leave that studio.
He thought he would be highly promoted and beco a superstar, but the agency treated him like a workhorse, constantly thinking of how to squeeze all the value out of him.
They gave him all sorts of jobs, claiming it would keep him visible, but what kind of lousy resources did they actually provide!
Heaven knows how hard it has been for him to barely maintain his popularity over the years, especially after Ian Whitley successfully brought out another newcor who could rival him, George Goodman was all the more determined to surpass Noah Zimrman.
Because if he lost to Noah Zimrman, the decision he made years ago, even backstabbing Ian Whitley to leave, would beco a complete joke.
George Goodman would not allow himself to be seen as a joke.
...
Perhaps by so divine intervention, a few months ago, he happened to take on an event in a coastal city and while relaxing on a deserted beach, he saw soone lying on a surfboard being pushed towards the shore.
At that ti, George vaguely saw a beautiful big tail subrging into the water, but he didn’t pay it much mind.
He ran into the sea and dragged the girl on the surfboard back to the shore.
It just so happened that she woke up and, seeing him, thought he was the one who saved her. George originally intended to tell the truth, but just then, the Sullivan family bodyguards arrived.
Only then did he realize the girl was the Capital tropolitan’s Sullivan family heiress.
Seized by a strange impulse, he accepted the identity of a benefactor.
Because of this, he received many resources from the Sullivan family, and the Jade Buddha was given to him by Camilla Sullivan as a token of gratitude.
Over the past few months, he fully experienced the benefits of clinging to the Capital Zone Princess. Directors and producers treated him courteously, and even the company that had been exploiting him showed a more amicable attitude.
George couldn’t help but think that if he could pursue and win over Camilla Sullivan, with the Sullivan family supporting him, he could have anything he wanted.
Unfortunately, even though he held the title of a lifesaving benefactor, Camilla Sullivan showed no intention of offering herself to him, and noticing his advances, she stopped eting with him as often. Although the resources she promised were still given, yet...
George wanted more than just those!
And now, if he were to be completely exposed, he might not even have what little resources he had left.
He might even face retribution from the Sullivan family.
Thinking of this, George’s heart sank deeper and deeper. Hastily, he said to Camilla Sullivan,
"Camilla, don’t listen to him! He and that Scarlett Jennings are both frauds! They, they actually want the Jade Buddha you gifted ; that Scarlett Jennings just scamd three million from ! If you don’t believe , look at my transfer records!"
As he spoke, he seed to rember sothing and hurriedly added,
"And this Noah Zimrman! He’s not even human! He’s so demon ghost! They admitted it themselves!"
George wholeheartedly believed that if he said this, Camilla Sullivan would doubt Noah Zimrman and Scarlett Jennings’ identity. Yet unexpectedly, when Camilla heard his words, after the initial shock, she suddenly seed to realize,
"So you’re not human. No wonder you could bring all the way back from such a distant sea."
When she was swept away, she knew how distant she was from the coast. Although she lost consciousness and didn’t see who saved her, she knew she was brought ashore by human effort.
Such a long distance would be nearly impossible for ordinary people.
After she woke up in the hospital, she also had soone investigate George’s background, knowing he had a sea lifeguard certification and excelled in various water sports, which is why she confird he was the one who saved her.
Camilla’s calm reaction made George, along with Noah Zimrman and others, pause, unable to help but ask her,
"He said I’m a demon ghost, aren’t you... scared?"
"Why would I be scared?"
Camilla was very composed,
"The authorities have confird the existence of supernatural studies. Even if you are a demon ghost, you saved , and as you said, saved so many others, you can’t be a harmful demon, right?"
Noah Zimrman couldn’t help but be convinced by her, nodding imdiately,
"Indeed!"
He was indeed a good, law-abiding demon.
Camilla smiled at him, but George, seeing this situation, had a huge unwillingness flashing in his eyes, still trying to salvage the situation. But Camilla, once she believed in sothing, wouldn’t easily be swayed.
In the past, she went all out to reward him with resources and connections—now it was the sa.
"George, I really don’t appreciate being played for a fool.
I may brush off the resources I’ve spent on you, but you shouldn’t always treat like an idiot."
Especially when he wanted to leverage his life-saving grace to develop sothing further with her; it made her feel disgusted.
"What you’ve taken from , I’ll have people retrieve bit by bit, but now, please return the Jade Buddha you deceived from ."
She reached out her hand towards him.
George instinctively covered his chest, shaking his head in refusal, "This isn’t possible..."
He already sensed the power of the Jade Buddha, naturally unwilling to return it just like that.
He tried to persuade her to let him keep the Jade Buddha as a souvenir, but Camilla was simply too tired to bother with his nonsense, directly signaling to the bodyguards,
"Go, take off the Jade Buddha hanging around his neck."
The bodyguards, who had been mulling over how to report back to Mr. Sullivan and the senior Mr. Sullivan about the potential that the person who saved their lady wasn’t human quickly shifted into bodyguard mode upon hearing Camilla’s order.
They unstintingly stepped forward, one restraining George making him unable to move, while the other quickly and carefully removed the Jade Buddha pendant from his neck.
Returning the Jade Buddha to Camilla, she took out a clean handkerchief from her bag, placed the Jade Buddha on it, then turned, unexpectedly presenting it to Noah Zimrman,
"This is for you."
Seeing Noah’s bewildered look, she asked back,
"Didn’t George just say you wanted this?"
So it turned out Camilla hadn’t completely disregarded George’s earlier words.
Noah looked at the Jade Buddha, feeling the mana upon it, not quite daring to touch it. Instinctively, he looked towards Scarlett Jennings, wanting to gauge her thoughts.
Then he saw Scarlett nodding, indicating to him,
"Take it."
The Jade Buddha is the fortuitous chance stolen from you.
Now, it is returned to its rightful owner.
