Perhaps it was Scarlett Jennings’ overly serious expression that made Dashiell gulp involuntarily.
"Why don’t we think it over again..."
If they use thunder to strike the National Protection Dragon Vein, would the Mystical Sect and the Demon Clan directly expel and ban them from both realms?
Moreover...
Back then, Samuel Chalrs secretly took many bolts of Heavenly Thunder for Scarlett.
If Scarlett were to strike him with thunder again now... Dashiell felt a bit reluctant.
He couldn’t help but think his brother Samuel seed a bit pitiful.
Maybe they should think of a slightly gentler way.
In the end, Scarlett Jennings was persuaded by Dashiell.
Dashiell transford back into a Flood Dragon, bringing Scarlett Jennings back to the Capital tropolitan area.
What they didn’t know was that within the barrier, in the part belonging to the main crown of the ginkgo tree, Samuel Chalrs stood beneath the original ginkgo tree.
Even through the barrier, he could still clearly hear all their conversations outside.
Including what Simon said, and...her words about wanting to use a Thunder Talisman to strike him.
He couldn’t quite describe his feelings, just sohow felt that this was indeed sothing she could do.
There was sothing Simon didn’t fully explain.
He did have mories of Scarlett Jennings and himself, but those mories were incomplete.
In fact, all mories of her in his mind were like fras of a black-and-white silent film.
He indeed didn’t have much feeling for this extra set of mories.
But... just as he had t her again recently, a tiny bit of color seed to finally return to a certain part of the mories about them.
Although just a little, in that black-and-white world, it still appeared extraordinarily bright.
Samuel Chalrs looked again at the ginkgo tree before him.
Observing the colors it displayed in this world, after a long pause, his dark eyes shifted slightly as if he thought of sothing. Lowering his head, he abruptly looked at his left wrist.
Only to see that what should have been a clean, white wrist was covered with dense black vein-like lines.
Those black veins were visible on the skin, presenting the pattern of thunderstruck lines.
That was... the residual marks of the Heavenly Dao’s thunder tribulation.
Also, the marks from when "he" once protected her from the Heavenly Dao’s thunder tribulation.
He wasn’t entirely sure about "his" feelings when protecting her from the thunder tribulation at the ti, but since he had already blocked so many bolts of thunder for her...
If Scarlett Jennings really felt dissatisfied and wanted to try waking "him" up with thunder, Samuel Chalrs thought, he couldn’t say he wouldn’t let her strike once.
...
Simon told Scarlett Jennings to think thoroughly before making a decision.
Scarlett Jennings thought about it for three days.
During that ti, neither Samuel Chalrs nor Simon Cassian Wolf appeared.
Scarlett Jennings also didn’t specially go looking for him.
Until the fourth day, she acted as if nothing had happened, going to the Academy of Mystique as she usually did.
anwhile, the eleven demons originally waiting for a new mber in the Special Demon Squad were waiting impatiently.
They thought a new mber had finally arrived.
But after the sparring match, she didn’t co to check in.
She promised to co the next day, but three days passed, and she still hadn’t shown up!
The most hot-headed blue-mirrored youth in the Special Demon Squad grew impatient, "Why hasn’t that Scarlett Jennings co?!"
He looked towards Hannah Hearne, "Did you not take the fight seriously that day, making her think the Special Demon Squad is at such a level?"
Hannah Hearne only gave him a chilly glance,
"Such a level? Want to go another round with at this level? Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to slice you into perfectly even pieces!"
The blue-mirrored youth imdiately jumped up, "Bring it on! You think I’m afraid of you?!"
The two were about to roll up their sleeves and start a fight.
The others in the classroom seed used to it; a girl with black-frad glasses sitting in the back row looked at the silent Callum Yuan in the corner and asked,
"You’re familiar with that Scarlett Jennings, do you know what’s up with her?"
Callum Yuan coldly glanced at her, then after a mont, only said one sentence,
"Not familiar."
Soone beside them wanted to argue but before they could speak, Hannah Hearne, who was about to start a fight, suddenly seed to sll sothing and stood up sharply.
"Finally here!"
As soon as she said it, she vanished from where she stood in a flash.
The others in the Special Demon Squad saw this and also left the classroom, shortly after all reappearing at the previous Trial Grounds.
There at the Trial Grounds, Scarlett Jennings stood, clearly waiting for them.
Seeing her, Hannah Hearne was surprisingly a bit happy, but said,
"What’s wrong with you?! You promised to co the next day; it’s been three days. Are you looking down on our Special Demon Squad?"
Scarlett Jennings looked at her calmly and said,
"Sothing ca up suddenly."
As for what, she didn’t explain but looked at her and the group of Special Demon Squad students behind her,
"You said before to co the next day and find another person for a new match, right? I’m ready, who do you want?"
The Special Demon Squad, including Hannah Hearne, didn’t expect her to agree so readily; the blue-mirrored youth sneered coldly,
"You think you can co as you please? The Special Demon Squad has its rules. You’re three days late; you’ll have to fight three rounds to be qualified to enter!"
In fact, there was no such rule, but the blue-mirrored youth wanted to intentionally dampen this half-demon imp sprite’s spirits.
But unexpectedly, Scarlett Jennings remained unfazed by his purposeful taunts.
She looked at him, gave it a brief thought, and then nodded,
"Three rounds, that’s fine too."
She ca today with the intention of fighting anyway.
Over these three days, she thought a lot.
About the past between her and Samuel Chalrs, about his gaze when she saw him again.
Also about what Simon said.
She was holding down a suppressed anger, unable to release, not knowing who to vent it on.
She didn’t plan on giving up on Samuel Chalrs; rather, she couldn’t possibly give up on him.
So, before seeing him again, she had to sort herself out.
She wanted to vent that anger.
This place was just right.
anwhile, on the other side, the group with the blue-mirrored youth felt a sense of provocation seeing Scarlett Jennings’ response, especially since the target was a half-demon with only a quarter demon blood!
The blue-mirrored youth sneered first, stepping forward,
"This is on you, don’t say later we’re bullying a demon."
Besides him, another mber from the Special Demon Squad ca forward, and after thinking, Callum Yuan stepped up as well.
Three people, three rounds, just like that.
...
Two hours later, the blue-mirrored youth sat amid the cratered and chaotic Trial Grounds, clutching his scorched tail, looking furious.
He glared at Scarlett Jennings, who stood there, wounded and disheveled but unyielding, and couldn’t help but shout angrily,
"Lunatic! You’re a lunatic! You can’t be a half-demon; no half-demon fights like that!"
It was just a spar; was it necessary to fight as if life depended on it?! She even scorched his tail!
This Scarlett Jennings must be genetically mutated!
In three consecutive rounds, he actually lost to her; who would believe it if told?
But Scarlett Jennings ignored him, disregarding the blood on her forehead and her wretched state, she rely asked him,
"Do you concede?"
The blue-mirrored youth instantly jumped up, "You’ve won, alright?! Have it your way!"
With that, he turned and walked back to the spectators; besides him, Callum Yuan and the other participant bore visible injuries.
The group simply watched Scarlett Jennings in the arena.
After a long pause, they stood up, stood respectfully, then slowly made an opening in the middle, addressing her,
"Scarlett Jennings, welco to the Special Demon Squad."
Scarlett Jennings looked at the opening they made for her, and finally, she slowly released all her strength.
Then, as if drained of energy, she fell straight back, arms and legs sprawled, onto the battered and pitted ground.
Above her, the sky was clear and blue.
Looking at it, Scarlett Jennings slowly smiled.
She had won again.
See, no matter how hard it gets, she always wins.
So, no matter how hard it gets...
She would not give up on Samuel Chalrs.
