The emotionless electronic voice ca, causing Michael Jennings to furrow his brows instinctively. He didn’t care that Magnolia Hearne was still next to him and put on a stern face,
"You mustn’t be willful! It was one thing when you were unwell before, but now that you’re healthy, are you still going to do nothing at ho all day?
You’re already an adult, acting like this, how do you expect your younger siblings to see you? I don’t expect you to compare to Donovan, but at least..."
Michael Jennings started enforcing his dissatisfaction instinctively.
Although he knew that Kingston was different from the other two children, his attitude always made Michael feel like his authority as their father was being challenged.
Kingston, though he could speak, wouldn’t easily speak up over such things. In such situations, he usually either turned to leave or chose to ignore.
But this ti, before Kingston could react, Magnolia Hearne had already thrown a pen at Michael Jennings’ feet, forcibly interrupting his words,
"Can’t you see Kingston is painting? Don’t disturb him."
Michael Jennings was startled by her action but dared not speak up against this sister-in-law. He barely managed to say,
"Sister-in-law, I’m concerned about Kingston’s future."
"Got it, but you don’t need to worry about his future."
Magnolia Hearne waved her hand dismissively,
"If you really want soone to educate, go to the turtle room. There, didn’t Scarlett just adopt a Crocodile Tortoise? Go talk to it."
Michael Jennings twitched, "Sister-in-law, I’m discussing a serious matter here."
"I’m discussing a serious matter with you too."
Magnolia looked serious,
"You’re an adult now, yet every ti you speak, you irritate people so easily. Have you ever considered it’s your problem?
I suggest that when you want to preach to the kids, first go talk to that Crocodile Tortoise. If you still want to talk after the first round, then say it again. When you feel your tone is right, then talk to the kids."
Embarrassed by Magnolia Hearne’s earnest lecture, Michael Jennings, at his age, was used to being reprimanded by his father and older brother, but even this long-lost sister-in-law did it. His temper flared.
"Sister-in-law, this is a matter of our second house, you’re overstepping here."
As soon as he said it, Michael Jennings seed to realize sothing, and instantly regretted it.
But words once spoken could not be taken back.
Sure enough, in front of him, Magnolia Hearne narrowed her eyes dangerously upon hearing him,
Then, she took out her phone and dialed a number directly.
Michael Jennings wanted to stop her, but it was too late. Magnolia Hearne’s expression imdiately changed, and she said into the phone,
"Yu Cheng, your younger brother was harsh with . It seems he really isn’t satisfied with as a sister-in-law. How about letting him move out?"
Scarlett, watching all this, was stunned.
This scenario didn’t seem like what she knew??
Others report complaints in a green-tea style: "He isn’t satisfied with ; should I leave?"
But her mother’s complaint was: "He’s not satisfied with ; let him leave."
Michael Jennings realized this sister-in-law was using this trick again. Anxious, he nearly stomped his foot, "Sister-in-law! When was I harsh on you?!"
Magnolia Hearne looked at him expressionlessly, "Your current tone is harsh on ."
She said this, putting the phone down with one hand and pointing towards the turtle room with the other,
"Leave before I truly lose my temper."
Michael Jennings ca in full of vigor but left dejectedly.
Scarlett finally walked over slowly. Without comnting on what had just happened, she silently handed Kingston a Silence Talisman,
"Want one? Eight hundred a piece."
Kingston: ...
[Make it two.]
Magnolia watched the two quickly complete a transaction right in front of her, feeling a bit speechless,
"Your thod is too simple and brutal. When dealing with family disagreents, we should use emotions and reason."
If reasoning fails, then suppress with strength.
Scarlett paused for a second and said, "Didn’t you previously teach to resolve situations without much talk, just take action?"
Magnolia Hearne: ...
"That was as a master; now I’m teaching as a mother. They’re different."
"...Oh."
Without continuing the topic, Scarlett briefly ntioned her trip to Peaceful City and was about to leave, but Magnolia stopped her,
"Wait, take Kingston with you on this trip."
Her words surprised not just Scarlett, but also Kingston.
Scarlett was going to find soone, and taking along another person wasn’t a big deal. But, would Kingston agree?
Of course, Kingston was unwilling.
He didn’t like going out.
Just as he picked up his phone to type a ssage, Magnolia had already decided,
"Young man shouldn’t stay ho all day, now that you’re healthy, go out more and see different things."
After saying this, she firmly concluded,
"That’s settled, go pack your things now."
Although Kingston disliked being arranged, since it was his aunt, he listened.
He quietly put away his phone, went upstairs, and packed his things.
Within half an hour, Kingston pulled a small suitcase and left with Scarlett.
After eting up with Gregory Xander, the three headed straight to the airport.
The Chalrs Family’s private jet was ready. As Scarlett boarded, she saw Samuel Chalrs already on the plane, with a seat reserved beside him.
Scarlett naturally sat down and asked him,
"You’re coming with us?"
"It concerns the Security Bureau and you, so I have to follow."
Samuel Chalrs said, "It’s convenient to visit Peaceful City for so anomalies as well."
Scarlett knew that aside from occasionally acting together with her, Samuel mostly communicated directly with Simon, the head of the Security Bureau.
Although she didn’t know the details of what Samuel did for Simon, she had ntioned before not to ask too many questions, so she didn’t continue to inquire.
The plane quickly landed in Peaceful City.
This ti, Scarlett didn’t alert the Peaceful City Security Bureau but led the others to first find the house previously arranged for Elysia Xander, using the address Gregory provided.
Since Elysia Xander had disappeared, the house had been unoccupied for over a month.
However, the mont Scarlett stepped into the house, she vaguely sensed an anomaly.
"Residual Shadow Energy?"
Gregory Xander, after carefully sensing around, said, "There must have been sothing of the Shadows lingering in this room."
But it should have already left.
Scarlett didn’t deny Gregory’s words, only said, "It might not have left."
She looked up at the ceiling of the house and slowly added, "But might have been eliminated by soone."
Following her gaze, the others looked up to see an obvious water stain on the ceiling that appeared to have been soaked and dried.
And that watermark clearly resembled a twisted, struggling human figure.
