Chapter 64: Chapter 64: The Fiancé Picked for Her Chapter 64: Chapter 64: The Fiancé Picked for Her Samuel Chalrs slightly furrowed his brow.

This wasn’t the first ti he had seen Scarlett Jennings make such a motion in front of him.

Only the last ti she had done it sowhat covertly.

This ti, however, it was out in the open.

His dark eyes narrowed intently, and he only asked, “What’s in your hand?”

Scarlett Jennings heard and imdiately knew that he couldn’t see it.

But that was normal.

Since she started practicing Mystical Techniques, she had t many people from the Mystical Sect.

Those people could at most see shadow energy and ghosts, but they couldn’t see all the “colors” like she could.

But since the topic was already brought up, Scarlett didn’t intend to hide it from him.

Her small face tensed slightly as she looked at him and simply said,

“I have a Golden Light in my hand.”

Paused, and then added, “Which I pulled from you.”

Samuel Chalrs: …

“You have a lot of Golden Light on you,” Scarlett said, “so every ti I see you, it stings my eyes a bit.”

Samuel Chalrs: …

He vaguely understood why each ti she saw him, she would blink forcefully.

“What is Golden Light?”

“Generally speaking, Golden Light only appears on people with considerable rit, but I’ve inquired, and aside from occasionally attending charity auctions, you haven’t had any outstanding deeds. This Golden Light is probably rit accumulated from your past lives.”

Scarlett Jennings explained,

“Golden Light protects against all evil. You were likely an extraordinary good person in a past life, and you can consider it a blessing.”

As for why she said “likely,” it was because Scarlett couldn’t see through his face at all.

In fact, just seeing his appearance through the Golden Light was already straining her eyes.

What Scarlett didn’t see was a faint, almost imperceptible trace of mockery flashed in Samuel Chalrs’s eyes when she ntioned “blessing.”

That trace of mockery hid within the Golden Light and disappeared in an instant.

When he looked at Scarlett again, his eyes were calm and serene.

“This Golden Light is useful to you.”

He spoke as a statent, his tone carrying an obvious certainty.

Samuel Chalrs was the youngest Family Head in the lineage of the Chalrs Family, much sharper than ordinary people.

From his brief encounters with Scarlett Jennings, he didn’t believe she was the kind of person who enjoyed helping people with clarity.

Yet she not only spoke up but was very detailed about it.

Combining this with the previous incident where she secretly pulled sothing from him, it was clear she had intentions concerning the Golden Light on him.

Scarlett didn’t expect him to easily figure out her intentions before she said a word, but this didn’t prevent her from admitting it openly.

“I am indeed a bit interested in you.”

Scarlett said solemnly, pausing as she t his deep, dark eyes, her expression awkward as she added,

“I’m very interested in your Golden Light.”

She was mostly sure that the last ti she was able to summon Purple Thunder, it was entirely due to the power of his Golden Light.

And adding to the fact that she just witnessed his Golden Light dispelling resentful energy that even professionals couldn’t eliminate, it was clear that this Golden Light did more than just drive away evil and shadow energy.

She was straightforward, but Samuel Chalrs didn’t dislike this kind of straightforwardness.

He continued watching her, seemingly waiting for her to continue.

However, Scarlett didn’t speak for a long ti.

Because just as she was about to say sothing, her attention was caught by an object on the antique shelf behind Samuel Chalrs.

Samuel Chalrs frowned, unable to hear her continue, was about to remind her, when he saw Scarlett suddenly stand up with a swish.

She bypassed him and headed straight for the antique shelf behind him.

Samuel Chalrs’s antique shelf was full of collectibles, but Scarlett’s gaze was fixed on a withered branch encased in a glass box in the corner of the shelf.

Blackened.

A thousand-year Thunderstruck Peach Wood.

It was her ntor’s branch!

At that mont, Scarlett forgot about the Golden Light. She pointed at the peach branch, her eyes blazing with a solemn intensity, and asked him,

“Where did this peach wood co from?”

Samuel Chalrs noticed the serious expression on her face and raised an eyebrow slightly.

Speaking of his collection,

Indeed, only that peach branch had a unique origin.

“A friend temporarily placed it here with .”

Samuel Chalrs’s voice was calm, yet it made Scarlett’s eyes tremble as she asked,

“What friend? Male or female, how old, what’s their na? Do you have a photo?”

A rapid-fire series of questions filled with obvious urgency, as if she had forgotten that she had barely known him until now.

Samuel Chalrs didn’t feel offended by her audacity, pausing briefly before saying,

“A woman, about my age. She didn’t ntion her na.”

Samuel Chalrs added, “She left the item temporarily with , saying soone would co to retrieve it for her.”

What he didn’t ntion was that when she gave him the item, she chose a spot on the shelf so casually, where an ancient dagger used to be displayed.

She took his dagger and placed what looked like a piece of broken wood on top of it.

As soone with OCD, Samuel Chalrs couldn’t tolerate the presence of such an item in his study, occupying a place on his antique shelf.

But…

He couldn’t remove it.

The glass case remained immovable no matter how much he tried to shift it.

Eventually, he resigned himself to leaving the branch there, gradually getting used to its presence.

Samuel Chalrs thought to tell Scarlett Jennings that the item couldn’t be removed.

But before he could speak, Scarlett had already reached out.

Samuel Chalrs watched as the glass case—unmovable by him—was gently lifted by Scarlett’s hand.

Then, he saw her take the peach branch, efficiently and decisively, into her grasp.

Samuel Chalrs: …

Witnessing this, how could Samuel Chalrs not understand?

The person she ntioned who would retrieve it undoubtedly referred to the Scarlett Jennings now standing before him.

But how did the other person know that Scarlett would see this item in his study?

“What is that?” Samuel Chalrs knew perfectly well what it was. He had looked it up online.

Thunderstruck Peach Wood.

While rare, it wasn’t seen as having much collectible value.

But people from the Mystical Sect seed to like it?

Scarlett Jennings responded,

“This is my ntor’s thousand-year Thunderstruck Wood.”

It was with her when she went missing.

It’s also what she said she would leave for her.

When Scarlett looked at Samuel Chalrs again, her eyes were full of skepticism and scrutiny.

What was her ntor’s relationship with Samuel Chalrs?

Why did she entrust this Thunderstruck Wood to his care?

And why did she ask her to retrieve it?

Could her ntor also see the Golden Light on Samuel?

Could her disappearance be related to Samuel Chalrs??

Thoughts tumbled wildly in Scarlett’s mind, and suddenly, as if realizing sothing, her eyes took on a subtle expression as she asked him,

“Besides this Thunderstruck Wood, did she leave anything else for you?”

Samuel shook his head, “No.”

Scarlett let out a sigh of relief, only to hear him continue,

“But before she left, she drew sothing on the palm of my hand that I still can’t wash off.”

As a person with OCD, this had tornted him for quite so ti.

Scarlett’s brow twitched. She stepped forward quickly, not caring about much else, and directly grabbed his right hand, looking at the palm.

In the man’s large and broad palm was unmistakenly a red Peach Wood Mark.

Scarlett’s mouth twitched.

She silently clenched her left palm, for in her palm there was an identical Peach Wood Mark to the one the major figure had.

Her ntor had said that if one day she t soone with a mark identical to the one in her palm,

there should be no doubt, as the person would be the one she chose for her… fiancé.
