Scarlett Jennings stood among the crowd at the door, discreetly withdrawing her hand that had just cast three Shadow Talismans.
Samuel Chalrs noticed her little gesture, his expression unchanged, casually pulling her hand over and holding it.
The two stood outside the crowd, both appearing indifferent to the situation as re onlookers.
But inside the shop, the Atkins family trio was nearly scared to the point of wetting themselves.
Who could have imagined that they would actually see a ghost in broad daylight?
When they ca over before, everything inside the shop was perfectly normal!
David Atkins looked at liora Torres and the man beside her with terror, his mouth trembling so much he could hardly speak.
liora was utterly bewildered and inexplicably tense, but kept up a hard front, saying,
"I have surveillance in my shop, don’t think you can scam here! Whether you want to reconcile or to target my shop is impossible, now get out!"
David still wanted to say sothing, but just then, the ghost standing beside liora spoke up, his words as cold as the ice shards of a northern winter,
"Leave, or die."
As if to complent the ghost’s words, the ghost on Lucius Atkins’s back slowly raised his hand, pretending to choke Lucius’s neck.
Already frightened enough, Lucius now felt a cold hand wrapping around his neck, and finally couldn’t hold it, his eyes rolled back, and he fainted.
The ghost on Lucius’s back seed to find this sowhat boring, and turned to look at David, his gaze dark and ominous,
"He’s no fun, then you can co play with ."
With that, it floated straight towards David and the old lady at the door.
David, upon seeing this surreal scene, finally couldn’t hold it anymore.
Ignoring the familiarity of the male ghost beside liora, not caring about his fainted brother and his petrified mother, he scread in horror, dragging his crippled leg, hobbling and shoving through the crowd towards the exit, while shouting,
"Don’t co over! Ghosts... there are ghosts! Don’t co over, I was wrong, ahhhh..."
The crowd originally there to watch was feeling a bit off when they saw the Atkins family with one fainted, one dumbstruck, and one running away.
Earlier, the youngest son of the Atkins family seed to be slapping himself and kicking his own brother, how couldn’t things be off?
All they wanted was to spectate, not to encounter anything unclean.
So soon, the crowd dispersed too.
liora originally didn’t understand what was happening, but hearing David screaming about ghosts seed to have understood sothing.
She got people to drag the two Atkins family mbers away before cautiously looking at the empty little shop, probing, her voice hoarse,
"Brother... is it you?"
Following her voice, a ray of light flew in through the door.
Then, before liora’s eyes, things seed to change—a blink later, she saw a figure slowly appearing before her.
Her pupils first dilated, and then seeing clearly who it was, her eyes instantly reddened.
There was no fear, only an overwhelming sense of longing and grievance,
"Brother..."
Though she always believed her brother’s soul was near, she never truly saw him, mostly using this belief to comfort herself.
Until now, finally seeing her brother, lost for half a lifeti, liora’s frailty, previously concealed from the Atkins family’s oppression, now utterly collapsed,
"Brother!"
Crying she lunged at Jeffrey Torres.
But unexpectedly, her body went right through his soul, as if hitting smoke.
Just like that, she passed through him, watching his soul dissipate like smoke and regroup again, she clearly realized her brother was truly dead.
And had been dead for many years.
Tears fell relentlessly, and facing Jeffrey’s soul, liora cried uncontrollably.
Jeffrey looked at his now aged sister, feeling indescribably sad,
"Little l, I’m sorry..."
This sentence ca twenty years too late.
...
When the siblings finally cald down from their emotional reunion, liora noticed there was more than just her brother’s ghost in the shop.
Clearing the misunderstandings of these past decades, Jeffrey and liora talked a lot more.
When they finally finished and searched out Scarlett Jennings and Samuel Chalrs, night had completely fallen.
Jeffrey briefly explained his plans for liora,
"I’ll have old friends from back then help look after Little l, I won’t let that Atkins household appear in front of her again."
Additionally was his legacy.
Though he died accidentally, he had set his will early on, dividing his posthumous wealth into two parts, one as a charity fund donation, the other to continue searching for his sister.
If in a hundred years his trustee hadn’t yet found his sister, the remaining fortune would be donated as well.
Now that his sister was found, he’ll find ways to transfer the remaining estate to her.
"eting my sister today and resolving these years’ misunderstandings is all thanks to you, Master Jennings. Thank you for helping find my sister."
Jeffrey solemnly bowed to Scarlett Jennings in gratitude.
Scarlett replied simply,
"If not for fulfilling my deal with the old ghost, I wouldn’t have invited you up. What I’m doing now is to have you help out. If you want to thank , then sign a limited edition autograph for the old ghost."
The old ghost was unexpectedly touched and excited by Scarlett’s rembrance of their deal.
Touched was towards Scarlett; excited was naturally towards Jeffrey.
Was his star-chasing mont finally coming for this ghost fan?
Hearing this, Jeffrey looked at the old ghost, eting his expectant gaze, yet didn’t sign any autograph, instead stepped forward and gave the old ghost a big hug with his soul body.
"Thank you! Thank you for saving my sister; from now on, you’re not just my ghost fan, you’re also Little l’s and my big brother."
Their bond originated from his act of rcy years ago.
He once gave the old ghost a puff of incense, the old ghost chased him for years as a ghost fan, and later, due to this title, saved his sister.
Afterward, he enjoyed his sister’s offerings for over a decade.
How couldn’t this be another unbreakable bond?
Listening to Jeffrey’s earnest words, the old ghost’s soul initially froze, then slowly turned red in the eyes.
Not just because the fan’s life ended perfectly, but also...
As an old ghost, having wandered the mortal realm alone for so many years, now... was he going to have a family too?
Heh, so nice.
Scarlett observed, as Jeffrey spoke the words, the old ghost agreed, a kinship line lightly forming between the two souls.
That kinship line connected the two ghosts together, and then subtly extended to another place...
Perhaps even Jeffrey hadn’t anticipated, because of his words, they and liora, in the next life, might truly have their own sibling bond.
As the thought flashed through her mind, Scarlett’s view suddenly revealed another scene—
In a cozy small courtyard, three children chased around, playing, suddenly the youngest sister ran too fast, slipped and fell on the ground.
The two boys who were running madly imdiately stopped, running over to the sister, one coaxing her, another lifting her up, both comforting her, and soon the three were laughing and running again.
Though their appearances were quite different, Scarlett unmistakably recognized that the three children were indeed the old ghost, Jeffrey, and liora.
The scene before her eyes...
Was their next life!
