Ren Xingzhou spat on the ground, his gaze foul as he stared at Sheng Ruoi.
"Nan Yu has you as a mother, truly a curse of eight lifetis of bad luck!"
Sheng Ruoi stood straight, unfazed by his words, a mocking smile appearing on her face.
"It’s , having her as a daughter, that’s the true curse of eight lifetis!"
Ren Xingzhou suddenly understood why Nan Yu didn’t show her any respect.
With such a mother, if he were in her shoes, even a thousand cuts wouldn’t be too much!
Ren Xingzhou raised his hunting rifle, pressing it against Sheng Ruoi’s forehead.
"Sheng Ruoi, are you going to move or not?"
Sheng Ruoi hadn’t expected Ren Xingzhou to be so bold as to aim a gun at her head.
She glared, yelling, "If you have the guts, shoot! I am a distinguished guest of your lady, practically her benefactor. If you kill today, do you think your lady will let you off?"
When Nan Qingqing saw this scene, she imdiately stood up from her seat, trying to intervene.
"Uncle Ren, please put the gun down. My foster mother only said those things for the safety of everyone; she is actually very worried about Nan Yu."
Seeing that Ren Xingzhou showed no sign of relaxation, she pursed her lips and added another sentence.
"Uncle Ren, Nan Yu is just a stranger to you, it’s not worth it to take a life over her. If you want to go save her, then go ahead, we won’t stop you."
With that, Nan Qingqing turned around and pulled Sheng Ruoi away from the door, clearing a path.
Sheng Ruoi wanted to struggle but, eting Nan Qingqing’s warning gaze, she closed her mouth and said no more.
Ren Xingzhou noticed the exchange of looks between the two, and considering Nan Qingqing’s status, plus the urgency of rescuing Nan Yu,
he spoke no more, stowed the hunting rifle, pulled the hood of his raincoat over his head, and left the house, walking into the rainy night.
He rode away on his motorcycle, leaving the place behind.
Watching him disappear into the rainy night, Sheng Ruoi turned to Nan Qingqing and asked.
"Qingqing, why did you let him go save Nan Yu? Wouldn’t it be better to take this opportunity to let Nan Yu die outside?"
Nan Qingqing withdrew her gaze, looking at Sheng Ruoi, "Mom, forcing him to stay here isn’t as good as sending him and Nan Yu to their deaths together. Then no one will know that we were behind what happened today."
Sheng Ruoi squinted her eyes, her expression serious, "I’m worried that if he rescues Nan Yu, our plan will fall through."
Nan Qingqing placed her hand on Sheng Ruoi’s shoulder, "Mom, as long as they co back alive, we’ll have Xiao Wang use the hunting rifle in the car and shoot them both outside."
Sheng Ruoi frowned, "Nan Yu can be sent for cremation imdiately, but what about Ren Xingzhou? What if Duan Zhu asks about it?"
Nan Qingqing patted her shoulder soothingly.
"For Duan Zhu, we can say that Nan Yu accidentally shot Ren Xingzhou, and then unable to cope with her guilt, committed suicide."
Sheng Ruoi’s eyes lit up, admiringly looking at Nan Qingqing.
"Daughter, you are much cleverer, unlike your mother’s dull brain, I’d never have thought of this in my life."
A fierce light flashed in Nan Qingqing’s eyes as she spoke, "Mom, just keep your peace, leave everything to ."
Suddenly, the mute Xiao Wang rushed to the window, frantically waving his hands, pointing outside repeatedly.
"Ah... ah..."
He let out an unpleasant sound, desperate to attract their attention.
Sheng Ruoi cursed, "You damn mute, what are you screaming about?"
Nan Qingqing, however, held her hand and looked outside with suspicion.
"Mom, what is that?"
Following her line of sight, Sheng Ruoi looked out the window and saw a pair of green eyes not too far away.
Then, as if a switch had been flipped, more and more pairs of green eyes lit up one after another.
In the darkness, those countless pairs of eyes all emitted a spooky green glow, truly chilling.
Sheng Ruoi’s legs went weak, and she spoke tremblingly.
"They’re, wolves!"
