"Nan Yu, be careful!"
From a distance, Xingzhou yelled in alarm, montarily disorienting Nan Yu.
By the ti she regained her senses, she had missed the best opportunity to escape.
The lion’s bulky body forcefully pinned her to the ground, leaving her unable to move.
Its jaws were wide open, displaying dangerously sharp teeth.
A re gentle bite would have been enough to completely sever her neck.
Nan Yu clenched her lips tightly, forcing herself to stay calm, with a dark cold light shimring in her eyes.
She discreetly moved her hand toward her waist, where a dagger was tucked away.
If the lion dared to bite down, she would not hesitate to slice through its neck.
"Roar—"
Another long, furious roar erupted.
Nan Yu drew her dagger, her eyes darkening.
Xingzhou’s frantic voice could still be heard nearby.
"Nan Yu, don’t move at all, I’m coming to save you right now."
"Xiaoba, co here quickly, your food is here, don’t bite her!"
Nan Yu observed the fierce lion nad Xiaoba with composure.
The lion also stared back at her, its deep black eyes reflecting an emotion she couldn’t decipher.
Neither of them moved, simply engaging in a silent standoff.
Descending from the tree, Xingzhou grabbed a piece of at from the basket and ran over in a hurry.
"Xiaoba, the at is here, co eat!"
The lion remained unmoved, its gaze still fixed intensely on Nan Yu, as if she were so delicious prey, its saliva dripping between its teeth.
It extended its crimson tongue, excitent swirling in its black eyes.
Nan Yu tightened her grip on the dagger as a murderous glint flared in her eyes.
The next second, the lion’s head moved.
Its tongue, long and red, lunged at Nan Yu’s face.
Xingzhou roared, "XIAOBA!"
Summoning all her strength, Nan Yu pulled out her dagger, only to feel moisture on her face and no pain as expected.
She hesitated, then looking intently, she saw the lion once again sticking out its tongue, frantically licking her face like a puppy.
Over and over again.
On closer inspection, one could see its tail wagging nonstop, its body radiating excitent.
"Roar~"
Even its roar sounded excited.
Seeing this scene, Xingzhou stood frozen in place.
After a long mont, he managed to say,
"Nan Yu, Xiaoba seems to really like you."
Nan Yu put away her dagger and tentatively reached out to scratch the lion’s neck.
Xiaoba instantly squinted its eyes, happily grunting.
A gleam sparked in Nan Yu’s eyes as she teasingly withdrew her hand.
Xiaoba, clearly dissatisfied, bowed its head and rubbed vigorously against her neck, continually licking her face, acting just like it was fawning for more affection.
Nan Yu burst into laughter, scratching its neck with both hands as it comfortably grunted.
She then turned to Xingzhou, "Brother Ren, this rumored man-eating lion doesn’t seem fierce at all. It’s even kind of cute, isn’t it?"
Seeing the spectacle, Xingzhou looked on as if he had seen a ghost, confused, "Every ti I co to feed Xiaoba, it’s not only aloof but also fierce. It bites whenever it’s dissatisfied, and I have a lot of scars on my hands from it."
With that, he showed the multiple scratches on his arm.
"But now, on your first visit, it likes you so much, almost as if you are its owner, which is really strange."
He frowned, "It’s only clingy like this when my wife cos here."
Upon hearing this, Nan Yu paused her actions briefly but soon resud, continuing to rub the lion’s neck.
"Maybe I just happen to appeal to it more."
