And it was at this ti that Lin Xiao arrived in front of the Sky Blue Fortress.
The several wizards from the three major schools who were stationed at the fortress and who had been recently promoted to Rank 6 Sun Wizards in the past few decades imdiately rushed over. Upon seeing Lin Xiao standing before the huge Transport Sorcerer Array with his hands behind his back, they exchanged glances, nodded slightly, and quickly stepped forward to salute him.
Although the situation was complicated, he was still the Wizard King, and the necessary formalities had to be observed.
"Azure Sect’s Crane One pays respects to the Wizard King!"
"Galon School’s Koer pays respects to the Wizard King!"
"Gaius School’s Reno pays respects to the Wizard King!"
Lin Xiao turned to look at them, his gaze indifferently sweeping over them. The three of them trembled violently, their bodies suddenly sinking as if they were about to fall, beads of sweat appearing out of thin air on their foreheads and streaming down, their eyes filled with a look of terror.
"Activate the Transport Sorcerer Array, I need to go through!"
The three in charge, the Children of the Spirit Realm, imdiately nodded their agreent. The huge magic array slowly lit up. With a flick of his sleeves and a step forward, Lin Xiao appeared at the center of the Sorcerer Array, inside the faint and invisible distortion, and the space began to tremble slightly.
"Increase the energy input!"
The many wizards responsible for the magic array brought more magic stones and poured them into large troughs at the edge of the array. The array’s power forcibly extracted the energy from the magic stones to stabilize the space.
Accompanied by intense spatial vibrations, the gateway between the two worlds slowly took shape, and Lin Xiao walked into it and disappeared from sight.
After his disappearance, the many wizards responsible for activating the magic array looked at each other, one of them wiping the beads of sweat from his forehead, and looked back at the now half-empty box of magic stones in astonishnt, exclaiming:
"He is too powerful, it took so many magic stones just to send him away."
Another wizard, a Child of the Spirit Realm, flickered in his gaze and suddenly excused himself to his colleagues and left.
Inside the gateway between the two worlds, within the void through which Lin Xiao was passing, one could clearly see the surroundings of the transport channel and the seemingly fragile but in fact incredibly tough protective mbrane beyond the void.
There are two ways of inter-world transport: one is by using spatial rules to shorten the distance between the two worlds; the other is by creating a spatial channel. The transporter moves through it at super-high speed, and most inter-world gateways use the latter thod.
Thus, even though the stars in the void beyond the protective mbrane appear motionless for a long ti, in reality, he was moving through it at speeds surpassing that of light.
If he so wished, he could now tear open the protective mbrane and step into the endless void without any harm befalling him.
The void in the Wizard World is no different from the void in other Crystal Wall Universes, but it is far more dangerous. This is because of the complex and bizarre systems of the Wizard World, which have given birth to innurable strange monsters. These creatures lurk in the void or in so unknown worlds, constantly sending tempting and deceptive ssages to lure wizards into unknown traps.
In just this short period of ti, he had already received no less than a thousand ssages, most of which were obviously traps at a glance.
Under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t mind going to see for himself what sort of things were "fishing" in the void; honestly, he was quite curious.
"Perhaps, after defeating the Mushroom n’s world, I’ll take a look on the side!"
At the end of the inter-world gateway, within the small world called Deadleaf situated between the Wizard World and the Mushroom n’s world, the space where the fortress of the Wizard Alliance was located suddenly expanded violently, like a balloon suddenly inflated greatly. From afar, the space around the fortress appeared to swell up to a thousand tis its original size. The space was severely distorted but did not collapse.
Shortly after, space slowly returned to its original state. Most of the wizards stationed within the fortress were at a loss, only a few powerful wizards sensed sothing amiss. A few Rank 6 wizards stationed there placed their hands over their wildly beating hearts, looking up to a certain direction in the sky, but there was nothing there.
"What a weak world!"
At that mont, Lin Xiao had already left the fortress far behind and appeared deep within this small world. With every step he took, the space beneath his feet cracked like thin ice and would shatter with a little more force.
He looked up at the sky, the world will moaned, but it was completely unable to resist him.
In such a state, he didn’t even dare to move quickly, for fear of accidentally breaking the space.
His secondary True Body was just too strong. A world that could accommodate the hands of many Rank 7 strong beings couldn’t even contain his body. And this was when he hadn’t even revealed his True Body. If he did, he would be directly expelled from this world into the void beyond.
It took him nearly half a year to complete this small world. He reached the gate at the depth of the world that connected to the Mushroom n’s world. From a distance, he could feel the faint scent emanating from the transport magic array that originated from the Mushroom n’s world.
At this point, the colossal fortress appeared in utmost chaos, with troops continuously moving in and out. Most of them were injured soldiers retreating from the front lines. A large-scale retreat from the fortress seed to be in order to return to the Wizard World, indicating the intensity and brutality of the fighting.
Afonso was the captain of a small squad of the Wizard King’s Guards, which were permanently stationed there – a Level 4 Dawn Wizard. Usually, his task was to patrol the vicinity of the fortress, eliminating any remaining Mushroom n in this world.
But recently their mission had changed; no longer patrolling, they were now receiving injured soldiers withdrawing from the frontline, and their numbers were increasing.
Although they had not entered the other world, they knew that the Allied Forces were in retreat.
"Have you heard? The enemy has counterattacked to the seventh level fortress, things are very fierce over there now."
Even the soldiers knew that the situation was unfavorable. After placing a small group of injured soldiers, a few soldiers taking a brief rest were discreetly discussing the situation. One soldier, after hearing his comrade’s words, looked sowhat dejected as he exhaled the cigarette from his mouth, saying:
"I heard that the enemy has spawned two new Emperor-Level Rank 7 strong beings, while we, despite plundering a huge amount of resources over the past few decades and giving rise to many new Rank 6 Sun Wizards, have not produced a new Rank 7 Wizard King. The enemy has one more Rank 8 strong being and also has the ho field advantage. It’s definitely not going to be easy."
"We haven’t produced a new Rank 7 Wizard King?"
The soldier took a harsh drag off his cigarette and said,
"You know what’s strange? We’ve seen a bunch of new high-level wizards of Level 4 Dawn Wizards and above being born, but not a single new Witch King."
"It is quite strange. Normally, that wouldn’t make any sense."
"I feel the sa way. Plus, I’ve heard a rumor that the energy we’re plundering from this world has been intercepted."
"Hmm!"
The tone suddenly beca serious:
"Who said that? Who intercepted it?"
"It’s unclear who said it—rumors, you know— but it was said with conviction. They claid that the energy we’re plundering from the world has been intercepted by the Chief Wizard King, so we... Wiz... Your Majesty the Wizard King!"
The voice abruptly stopped, and the soldier, in a panic, tossed away his cigarette and looked, horrified, at Lin Xiao, who had appeared behind him at so unknown ti. As a mber of the Wizard King’s Guards, even the lowest soldier would recognize his face.
"What is your na?"
"Dan, esteed Your Majesty the Wizard King, my na is Dan!"
"Very well, Dan. I shall bestow upon you my mark!"
Lin Xiao did not bla him, instead, he just patted his shoulder and pointed at his forehead. A spark of light ford on his forehead, quickly outlining a mark as he said,
"Pass my command, summon all mbers of the Guard Legions to assemble at the Seventh Level Fortress."
The soldier, his face bright with joy, snapped to attention and bellowed,
"Your command is my will!"
"Go."
With a wave of his hand signaling them to leave, the soldier, marked by him, had the temporary authority to mobilize all nearby Guard Legions. As long as the Guard Legions still recognized him as the Wizard King, they must obey his commands. It was a good opportunity to see exactly how many in the Guard Legions were still loyal to him.
Walking within the fortress, invisible to the surrounding soldiers, Lin Xiao made a round inside, pondering the soldier’s recent words.
The rumors were not wrong; indeed, soone had intercepted a large portion of the plundered energy.
Certainly not him—he knew best whether he intercepted it or not.
In the whole Wizard World, aside from him, only other Guardians had the qualifications and the capability to intercept it.
"Interesting!"
After making his rounds, he ca to the Transport Sorcerer Array at the center of the fortress and waited. Soon enough, Dan, the soldier from before, had gathered all the mbers of the Guard Legions within the fortress to converge there.
Their unusual gathering imdiately caught the attention of the guards near the magical array, and an officer quickly approached them and demanded sharply,
"Under whose order are you assembling here? Don’t you know that without a military order, it is forbidden to rally during the War?"
Dan held out his hand, and the mark bestowed by Lin Xiao lit up, emanating a power that made everyone’s heart palpitate. It was a mark unique to the Wizard King and could not be faked.
The leading officer imdiately looked around and, upon seeing Lin Xiao standing at the Transport Sorcerer Array, he quickly stepped forward and shouted,
"His Majesty the Wizard King!"
The voice stirred the people around, and they all saluted him, the sound spreading outward. Soon, everyone in the fortress was aware of the Wizard King’s arrival and showed utmost respect.
Despite various speculations and complaints in private, no one dared to be disrespectful in his presence, not even wizards from the Child of the Spirit Realm Schools or the Children of the Spirit Realm themselves.
"Prepare to activate the magical array. I am going over."
The on-duty officers and wizards did not dare delay and imdiately prepared for him.
The Huge Magic Array started up once again, and Lin Xiao walked slowly into it. Space began to warp instantly, and the wizards maintaining the formation looked at the terrifying presence in the twisted space and couldn’t help but swallow their saliva, ordering an increase in energy output.
In the Mushroom n’s world, at the Seventh Level Fortress, Mushroom n who had been suppressed for fifty to sixty years launched a counterattack against the Wizard Alliance Army after the ergence of two new Emperor-Level Mushroom n and consequentially dealt several defeats to the Wizard Alliance Army, splitting them in two.
Part of their main forces were stranded on a plain, fending off the Mushroom n’s main army with the power of a super-titanic magical array.
The other part, which had been attacking other Mushroom n territories, retreated to the Seventh Level Fortress. Most of the territories originally conquered were reclaid by the Mushroom n, and the lands plundered through decades of war were lost overnight.
Fortunately, the Seventh Level Fortress, having been reinforced over many years, had exceptionally strong defenses. With layer upon layer of magical arrays, even without a single Rank 7 strong individual inside, it could withstand the relentless assault of an army led by an Emperor-Level Mushroom n for many years without harm.
