" What do you an that the entire place will collapse if not for the blood of a mystic creature?" Yakov asked his voice filled with annoyance as he looked at the bar of the cells like he was wishing to snap them into half and then force his way inside, most probably he was getting annoyed with all the magic enchantnts that the Duke has placed all over the orphanage. They were supposed to get hold of the phoenix offspring and leave but now they were stuck taking care of the enchantnts that the Duke has placed all over the entire building. " Can’t you just make do with the magic spells like you did earlier in the forest?"
"That’s now how magic works," Blaise replied, a low growl rumbling in his chest as he looked at Yakov with impatience in his eyes. He too seed to have understood that they have hit a dead end, the magic potion that Blaise gave to the duke and the rest of his guests was supposed to be effective for only three to four hours and they have already wasted at least two hours while searching for this orphanage. With this enchantnt, they wouldn’t be able to save the Phoenix offsprings as they intended to and that will only give the Duke a chance to escape if he was to find out sothing was wrong. " This is more of a curse than an enchantnt, like the one you read in children’s stories. Have you ever heard the princess waking up because of a magic spell when she was cursed to wake up only with a kiss of her true love? If the curse’s condition is not t then we can’t open this prison’s door."
Yakov frowned and so did Bree, she turned to look at the small children who were lying on the prison’s floor and then took a deep breath before she turned to look at Blaise and asked, " The mystic beasts, dragon shifters also count as one right?"
This world was ruled by dragons, given that they were the top predators...her blood should count for sothing right?
" Your majesty, you cannot do that," Yakov was the first one to refuse, his brows furrowed as he looked at her with disapproval. " Your blood cannot be used for sothing like this, for you to shed the blood of your ancestors in a prison-like this ... it will be a disaster."
The ruler of the dragon empire wasn’t supposed to bleed without any rhy or reason, they were supposed to bleed on war fields and for their people with dignity and pride, bleeding in a prison-like this wasn’t suitable for a ruler. This was the law, if the council was to find out or anyone was to get hold of the drop of Bree’s blood then they will be in trouble.
" Do you have any better idea?" She asked, it wasn’t that she wanted to be rude but if they were to continue like this then they will be only wasting their ti, after all, other than her the only mystic beasts were the children inside the prison, they couldn’t reach them and even if they could, she wouldn’t ever agree to let them bleed for the sake of opening the door. " If we stay here like this then we might as well drop the Duke to the boundary of our empire with our own hands. Because that will be happening anyway if we go out to look for a mystic beast."
As she spoke, she already took the dagger out from her side pocket and then placed it against her palm. " I am not willing to waste my efforts."
With that she slashed her hand, red, hot blood oozed out of the cut and then Bree raised her hand to pour blood on the lock of the prison door. The lock that was shut tight slipped and then opened with a hiss, Blaise and Yakov eyed the prison lock with anger blazing in their eyes and underlined the Duke’s na with another redline. They were going to teach that man a lesson for making their wife hurt like this.
The prison door glowed before the bars vanished as they retracted in the tal bar over the ceiling giving them enough space to walk inside. Bree walked inside while Yakov turned to look at Blaise, " I thought that you were coming here to be useful, I think I expected too much of you."
" Says the one who only knows how to run away at every possible turn," sneered Blaise. " And why are you talking with , I thought you didn’t want to do anything with ? Are you missing the past or sothing of the sort?"
Yakov stiffened as he looked at Blaise and then hissed at him. " Don’t be foolish and don’t talk about the past like this, we were young and it was an honest mistake."
" I hear you loud and clear," Blaise smiled at him but his eyes were chips of cold ice. " You were young and foolish which was why you had a relationship with , you kissed as a mistake and when you found out that I was the son of a wild one you went away without saying a word and got engaged with another woman in just a week. Believe , if you had any sha then you wouldn’t be acting as such in front of Yakov, stay away from , if you hate my wild blood so much before I do sothing that both of us will regret, do not act as you know !"
With that, he ignored the ashen look on Yakov’s face and walked inside the prison right after Bree. He didn’t want to acknowledge their past either, they have been doing just fine pretending that they were strangers but given how Yakov was going against him at every turn, Blaise couldn’t help it anymore. The man owed him, his first heartbreak and yet here he was acting as he has never done anything wrong to him. If not for the queen he wouldn’t have agreed to be with this man in the sa place much less breathe the sa air!
He would always condemn him for the blood in his veins but what about him? Was he not in the wrong for what he did?
