This was why one should never provoke a smiling psychopath, Bree’s gaze fell on the spoon that was twisted and then crumbled into bits before raising her head to look at Yakov, he was still munching at the stew that looked more like at cooked in nothing but salt, pepper and water. If she was being honest with herself, it looked just as unappetising as it looked but there was no way she could have complained about the quality and taste of food when she was sitting in the middle of a forest after being attacked by a monster right?

She poked the big piece of at in the stew and then picked it up to take a bite, no point in procrastinating about it. She only had this and nothing else to eat, "You don’t have to look at like I killed your cat, I did what I thought a wise ruler would have done. You should be glad that I am doing a good job as the Queen, shouldn’t you?"

Yakov let out an inadvertent sigh as he looked up at Bree, he had to admit that she looked prettier with his clothes, pretty enough to make it impossible for him to get angry at her. Damn her.

" I know that you are right your majesty," with his jaw bunched, Yakov rubbed his chin ignoring the tension that was bracketed in his chest. Every ti he looked at Bree now, a subtle reminder of his needs was thrown into the mix, sothing that he didn’t like. He needed his head to work straight instead of working like a teenager in love when he was talking to her and yet ——

He tore away his gaze from Bree’s figure that sohow fit into his shirt as if it was tailor-made for her. " That’s why I am upset, what you did was the right thing to do but I cannot make myself understand that and maybe I don’t want to understand it either." He pressed his fist on his forehead and heaved a sigh. " As a chancellor of course I am happy that you did sothing right and I am glad that you have finally set your mind straight but as your husband..." his eyes darkened as a fiery glow lit them up. " All I want is to break that maid’s limbs and send her to the afterlife, I bet she would thank for helping her deal with the pain of the mating bond snapping."

Bree had only taken a bite of her stew and now she felt like hurling it out. This man, how can he talk about killing soone as if life was nothing to him? Bree placed her spoon on the table and nursed her temples feeling a headache coming. " You are not going to chase that maid down and you are certainly not going to ask Aileen or anyone to do anything to that maid either. If this bothers you so much then you need to find a way to get your hands on the dark wizard about whom Ashlyn told us about, if the dark forces are gaining montum then it would be better to put an end to them before they start another war."

Sel’s revival was not sothing that they could take lightly, the last ti the man was this active, they almost lost at least thousands of their knights and the number of innocent citizens being involved in the ss was simply uncountable. If Sel was back then they need to be prepared, the last ti neither of them knew what prince Leon was planning and suffered infinite losses.

Yakov’s eyes flashed, he took another bite of his unsavoury stew and frowned. " I will look into this matter, your majesty. This ti we cannot afford to have losses like before" —— an entire army being wiped out, in nurous deaths and the loss of many magical creatures. These losses were sothing that Yakov can never forget and maybe he will never forget them either till the day he died.

" It will be better if we catch him soon," said Bree flicking her hair behind her shoulders as she turned her head and looked at the chattering crowd. Her eyes softened by a degree before she turned her head slightly and looked at him in the eyes. " I don’t wish to see this peace getting disturbed again."

This was sothing that they have gained after many sacrifices, losing it again would be such a sha.

" I understand, your majesty." Yakov nodded after taking another bite of his stew but this ti he didn’t chew he simply swallowed it in one gulp.

Bree watched him and tried to copy his style as well but instead of swallowing everything in just one big gulp, she ended up choking on the lump of at that she has just gobbled.

" Is it that unappetising, your majesty?" asked Yakov with a faint glimr of amusent in his eyes.

" Why are we eating different als?" shot back Bree as she poked her spoon inside the bowl and this ti unearthed a talon from sowhere. Almost at once, Bree’s appetite vanished as she dropped her spoon and pushed it towards Yakov.

" What is the aning of this, your majesty?" Yakov was having a hard ti eating his own al what did Bree an by pushing her bowl towards him as well?

Bree arched a brow and tilted her head at the knights who were excitedly serving others seconds and said, " I don’t want to make them feel bad that’s why I can’t throw this away... so you eat it and tell them that the al was good."

" What?" For two seconds Yakov thought that he might have misheard Bree but the latter simply sucked in a breath and repeated what she just said, Yakov didn’t move nor did he take the bowl from her.

Seeing this Bree’s lips curled in a smile as she said, " Don’t tell that as my husband you can’t even do sothing this small for ?"
