Andrew was silent for a mont before he gritted his teeth and spat. " It was ...a Job, my guild hired for that job."
" A job, you say?"
" There has been a circular going around the dark guilds, every week a new job will co with that circular. I don’t know who sends it and why but they send it to every dark shifter guild, on that job pamphlet the address, na and where and how we will find our target is written out and it’s posted on our job boards. This ti the pamphlet had your na along with when and where you will leave the palace. The job was easy, I just had to drag you to the edge of the capital and dump you there after making a grab at you, I followed you from the palace to the guild and waited for you to co out of the guild."
Cian felt unease prickle his nerves as he narrowed his eyes when his Siren paused. " Who gave you the information about ?"
"As I said, I have no idea... it’s all written in a job pamphlet...I don’t know who sends it and when, I am only asked to pick up the job and get it done because that’s what I am supposed to do, I have tried reaching the one who is behind the pamphlet circulation but the thing is that I couldn’t ever get closer to him."
" Then how do you finish your job, when you haven’t seen them?"
Andrew hesitated before he licked his lips. " They ask us to drop the person that we have kidnapped on the location they share that is to say at the shore of the capital, or anywhere else they want ...it’s never the sa location mind you. And soone always waits there to pick up the creatures that I or my guild mates drop there."
" Who?"
" The person always changes, it’s never the sa guy ——— they change every ti and neither of them shows their face to or anyone else but I know the voices of those n and I think there is a total of six of them. When I arrive at the spot that they have given , they transfer whoever I have brought for them into their carriage and they leave with a magic talisman."
Cian too would have been taken away by those n in case he wasn’t fortunate enough to save his skin last night. " How do these people contact you?"
" They don’t, they contact the guild and the guild master tells where I need to drop the goods."
Goods? As if the kidnapped creatures weren’t rare beings but lifeless dolls.
" Who is your guild master?"
" I have never seen him," answered Andrew with a sigh. " The dark guild works really privately, we never see the faces of other guild mates much less the face of the guild master." He scratched the armrest of his chair and pursed his lips before continuing, " We are asked to wear a long cloak that will hide our faces, only our partners that work with us know how we look."
" Partner? like the one who left you behind?" Dominic cut in, running his hand through his hair, a smirk decorating his lips when Andrew shut his mouth at once. " Oh co on, Drew... don’t be like that, we are having such an amazing ti. I an why would you want to save a man who abandoned you to suffer all to save his old skin?"
A dark glint flashed in Andrew’s eyes before he sucked in a breath and muttered a low curse. " Lucius, his na is Lucius Reigns." He rattled the address of the inn where they were staying and then shook his head. " But he wouldn’t be waiting there for you to catch him, he must have packed his bags and left by now. He was always a cowardly, sissy thing to begin with."
"We will take a look just in case if he is as stupid as he is cowardly then maybe I don’t have to work hard while tracking him," he turned to Claus who nodded his head. " I have already sent Jake a ssage via mystical ssenger. He will go and take a look at the inn."
Cian turned back to Andrew before he pushed for the answers that he needed the most. " I need you to tell who and what kind of shifter have you kidnapped?"
" I don’t know, I don’t rember...I have been doing it for a very long ti and I can’t rember it anymore. I only rember that I was mostly asked to catch females and children, dominant males never made it to the list unless they really needed them."
Children? He kidnapped children? Fury coursed through Cian’s veins as he clenched his fists but sohow managed to keep his tone neutral. " Anything else? Because this isn’t enough to let you have a decent, painless death ."
Fear flickered in Andrew’s eyes as he swallowed hard. " Oh wait there is, one ti when I dropped off a girl on the shore, I heard that the males were talking sothing about blood and auction. They said sothing along the line ’ sha the blood of a rfolk is crazily priced,’ and his partner responded with, ’ And she is young too ..the auctions will be wild.’"
Cian tensed as he exchanged a look with Dominic who looked none as jolly as he usually was. " Auction?"
" Dark mages require blood to do sacrificial offerings for that they need the blood of innocent sotis but after the Dragon Queen rounded everything up that has to do with dark magic, it’s hard to get a good kill ...so the dark mages started an auction where they sell the blood of innocent. The males however said sothing about leader of dark knights and sothing along the line."
Eyes wide, Cian looked at Dominic who was looking back at him with a gaping expression. Oh, they knew the leader of the dark knights and neither of them was happy upon hearing his na again.
A bad premonition rising in their heart.
