"Why should I care for a pregnant woman who stabbed in the heart, cheated on and got pregnant with another man’s child? Why should I not strangle you right here and now with that bastard in your—"

The room suddenly went silent, Barak’s tongue rolled inside his mouth as he felt the reverberating sting of her palm that had landed on his cheek. His head that had turned due to the force of her palm kissing his cheek slowly turned back to her, both their eyes were red with anger.

His eyes remained on her as he watched her heaving up and down like she wished to strangle him and all of a sudden, he wanted to laugh... Sincerely this ti.

It was funny to think she still had the strength to lift herself high enough to strike his cheek. Even with that stomach that looked heavier than her, she could still jump high enough to slap him.

She never failed to amuse him, really.

He eyed her as he was suddenly wondering how in hell she was able to move around with that thing in front of her. It looked too heavy, it was so long and round that he was certain it would be very heavy for soone as tiny as her to carry around and yet she had managed to slap him.

She would never change.

"Again, that hand of yours will put you in a lot of trouble soday." He said. "Do you imagine what would happen to you if I were to reciprocate your actions?" At that mont, he saw her eyes look downward to where his palm rested by his side and it made him so satisfied to see that look of panic on her face. It was even more fun to see her try to hide that look.

"Say what you will and curse as much as you want," She said and lifted her eyes to et his own again... Defiantly as always. "But never talk bad about our child." She said and his pupils dilated and shook, but quickly returned to normal, followed by a boisterous laughter.

He stood to his full length once again as he backed away from her and laughed more to his heart’s content. "Oh Neriah, you really never cease to amaze . Everyti I think you cannot get any worse, you just go ahead and top it." He said and laughed again. "You must really believe I am a fool, right?" He asked and again laughed at his words.

"You clearly are a fool if you believe I am carrying another man’s child!" She retorted.

For so seconds, she felt as though her words had gotten through his head, but then he started laughing yet again and she knew he was going to believe whatever he wanted to. "Your lies just keep on coming." He said as he stopped his laughter and Neriah could suddenly see it again.

Beneath the anger was pain, real pain... And lords help her, she wanted to soothe that pain, she wanted to kiss them away if possible... At the very least she wanted to try to kiss them away, but he would not let her.

"You make really sick." He said.

"You are so rotten that it truly makes sick just by looking at you now." Dear gods, she hated him. She hated him so much for not believing her.

She knew it was not his fault, anyone who had been through what he had gone through would lose trust too.

But still, "I hate you." She said in tears.

"Believe woman, I swear by the gods when I say at this mont, that feeling is very much mutual." one last ti, his eyes swept her entire being and it felt as though he could see beyond her physical appearance. Saying nothing further, he turned his back to her and walked out of the room. Not stopping to look at her even once, he slamd the door shut.

He just walked, leaving her muttering to herself in tears, "Tis all going to fall into place. He will co to believe eventually and he will love our child too." Those words suddenly sounded like a distant dream, from a far distant future. One she was scared would never co to pass.

...

How could she do that?! How could she hurt him like that?! How could she go as far as to get pregnant for soone else?

It hurt him. It hurt him so much to think that all through the ti they spent together in Fortia, she was carrying the child of another while sleeping with him.

"Oh Narcissus, why have you afflicted with such tornt? One that is far too much for ." Barak cried out into the belly of the forest. After talking to her, he had mindlessly climbed atop the horse and had ridden long and hard until he was out of breath and standing in the middle of the forest.

"That woman—" He paused and buried his face in his palm, "Why did you allow to be bewitched by that woman? Why did you let fall into her snare? Why!! Why must she have the power to hurt so? And why?!! Why must I love her still?"

Barak knelt down on the slightly damp earth, crying to his creator in anguish and pain. Dear gods, he hated her. He hated her so damn much because his love for her was trying to force him to believe her even though he knew how deceitful she could be.

She was claiming the child was his...

Dear Narcissus, could it be true?

Could everything she claims be true?

Again, he’s reminded of the dream he had that morning and he is forced to consider the possibilities.

What if truly, he had missed all those clues? What if she had never truly betrayed him and the child in her was his?

He wanted that. Dear gods he desperately wanted that to be true, but...

After being hurt and lied to more than once, it was hard to believe now.
