Capítulo 860: Luminous Moon Spin-off: Pearl (Part 3)_2

Xue Zhao chuckled bitterly, “Hai Tang, you’ve been with Jiuyue for so long, what do you think Jiuyue…considers to be?”

Hai Tang was startled.

“Although I always say that I have a dream of the martial arts world, in reality, I haven’t experienced much of the world’s affairs. That’s why I was easily fooled by Princess Yongning at the beginning. Jiuyue, on the other hand, truly grew up in the martial arts world since she was young. She’s seen much more than I have and might see as a naive youth who knows nothing about the world. If she doesn’t like , and I declare my feelings to her, I’m afraid that we may not even remain friends afterward. But I’m not willing to just watch her from afar, at least not now. I hope to stay by her side. After the situation in Molan has settled down, I’ll explain everything to her. That way, even if she wants to drive away and not see anymore, at least I can leave with peace of mind.”

Upon hearing this, Hai Tang remained silent for a long ti. She looked at Xue Zhao, her heart filled with a mixture of feelings. That bright and sunny youth from years ago had finally grown up. His deep affection seed naive and pure, but there was no doubt it was sincere. Hai Tang thought for a while before speaking, “Young master, you really are not clever.”

“Huh?” Xue Zhao said in surprise, “Why do you say that?”

“The young master has already guessed what the princess is thinking, but the conclusion you’ve co to is very far off the mark.”

Xue Zhao stared blankly at Hai Tang. He wasn’t stupid and caught the implied aning in Hai Tang’s words, but he still couldn’t believe it, saying, “What… what do you an?”

“The princess treats you in a special way, young master. You’re not as bad as you think. If you like her, just say it. Your feelings are precious. Actually… when the young lady and the Duke left Yanjing City, they ntioned sothing to this servant.”

“Sister?” Xue Zhao was taken aback.

Jiang Li and Jih Heng had already been traveling far and wide these days, and Xue Zhao had no idea what Jiang Li had said.

“The young lady guessed long ago that once the princess returned to Molan, the young master would surely follow her. She also guessed… that the young master would hesitate to reveal his feelings to the princess.” Hai Tang covered her mouth and chuckled at this.

Xue Zhao felt a bit embarrassed.

“The young lady asked this servant to tell you that you can be open about your feelings with the princess without any reservations. If the princess refuses to accept them and wants to drive you away, but you don’t want to leave and wish to stay here and help her, then just shalessly stay. With the persistence you showed back in Tongxiang, I’m sure the princess would be at a loss with you.” Hai Tang imitated Jiang Li’s tone, and Xue Zhao’s face turned even redder, but his eyes lit up.

It was his first ti liking soone, appearing sowhat clumsy, but with a little provocation, he suddenly saw the light.

“The young lady said if the young master wants to do sothing, he will surely succeed. It all depends on whether the young master is seeking the sentint or the outco.”

Sentint? Outco? But liking soone, that kind of emotion, isn’t it sothing where you don’t seek an outco? That worry, the yearning, the helplessness felt all alone, upon reflection, can also be joyful.

“I understand,” Xue Zhao said, “I’ll do as my heart desires.”

For a few consecutive days, no one saw Situ Jiuyue.

It was heard that Suo Jing had already prepared everything for the ceremony, and the next step was to announce the Royal Husband. Situ Jiuyue was walking alone in the garden, with everything about to be settled, and she was fully prepared. However, when the mont was truly upon her, she felt a little reluctant, as if she was waiting for so miracle to happen. To suppress this impractical thought, Situ Jiuyue deliberately avoided Xue Zhao; she was afraid that seeing him would make her heart waver again. Sadly, this was still a shaful, unrequited affection.

But the more you don’t want sothing, the more it cos to you. Before she could reach the pavilion, she was stopped by soone halfway there.

The person who appeared was Xue Zhao.

Situ Jiuyue furrowed her brows slightly.

“Jiuyue,” this ti the young man even dropped the words “Miss,” using an intimate form of address that made Situ Jiuyue pause. Before Situ Jiuyue could speak, Xue Zhao said, “I heard from Lord Suo that your Royal Husband has already been chosen.”

“Yes,” Situ Jiuyue suppressed the turmoil in her heart, replying with feigned calmness.

“You’ve only known him for just over a month, and there hasn’t even been ti to develop a relationship. It’s nothing more than a move to silence the ministers. Since that’s the case, can you choose to be your Royal Husband?”

Situ Jiuyue looked at him in surprise.

The young man’s face was sowhat red, but his gaze was very determined. He spoke deliberately, “Even if it’s using , be it for five years, ten years, or a lifeti, I am willing to accept. Although I am a cripple, I believe I’d probably get along with you better than that gentleman. And I am not a person from Molan; I won’t covet your status and wealth… I’m doing this not to ask for anything; I just hope to stay by your side.”

Situ Jiuyue’s heartbeat was extrely rapid. She asked, “Why would you do this?”

“Because I like Miss Jiuyue,” Xue Zhao said.

These were the words she had always hoped to hear, yet at this mont, she suddenly found herself afraid to accept them. She said, “It’s impossible.”

“I’ve fallen for Miss Jiuyue a long ti ago, from the first ti I saw you,” Xue Zhao said as if he had beco even more determined and courageous, laying his feelings bare.

When exactly he had fallen for her, he truly couldn’t recall. That day, when he had escaped from the dungeon and Jih Heng had brought him to the Duke Residence, he saw the girl. In his life, he had seen Xue Fangfei, so warmth and beautiful, and he had seen Qiongzhi, so enchanting and alluring, but it was his first encounter with such a cold and unyielding girl. Yet although she kept a stern face and remained silent, the actions she took were exceptionally gentle. She claid to be Poison Beauty, but she had saved him more than once. Everybody thought Poison Beauty was like a stony, stinking boulder on the riverbank, but only he felt she was a pearl unearthed after digging three feet into the earth.

He could glimpse the tenderness beneath her armor, even though she never admitted it.

“I know what you are worried about and what you are doubting, but it doesn’t matter. If you cannot co to my world, then coming to your place is not bad,” said the youth, his eyes gentle. “Let’s stay together, until you grow tired of .” He was willing to be used by others because, in other people’s eyes, it might be exploitation, but in his, it was nothing less than giving himself to the one he loved, a satisfying and beautiful matter.

“Your Highness,” he said with a warm, bright smile, “may I have your permission?”

Situ Jiuyue didn’t know how to respond until she saw Xue Zhao’s hand on his leg, clenched into a fist and slightly trembling. His ears were very red, betraying his nervousness. Like a gentle beast, he revealed his vulnerability, laying his furry head in the lap of the hunter. Even the coldest and most ruthless of hunters would be moved.

It was enough to make one incapable of refusal.

Besides, she didn’t want to refuse.

This was not a good idea; there might be endless troubles in the future, yet suddenly, she also wanted to act on impulse for once. After living cautiously for over a decade, to have soone to share the burdens with, especially soone she liked.

She would not shy away from her own feelings nor betray the sincerity of the one she cherished.

“From now on, you will be loyal to alone.” She turned her head away, like a proud princess, yet her tone softened, the corners of her eyes betraying an uncontrollable smile.

“As you command!”
