Capítulo 859: Luminous Moon Spin-off: Pearl (Part 3)

“I ca for you.”

Situ Jiuyue was taken aback for a mont, looking towards Xue Zhao. For an instant, the girl’s face seed to redden, sothing unbelievable. Over the many past years, she had seemingly never shown such emotion. All the silliness and shyness that belonged to a young girl had long since been distant from her when her family was destroyed and her people were lost.

Her gaze t Xue Zhao’s. The youth’s eyes were clear, piercing through her, like a beam of sunlight, unstoppably shooting straight into one’s heart.

Situ Jiuyue paused, then asked, “What do you an?”

“You are my friend and you once saved my life. Back at the Duke Residence, if you hadn’t treated my injuries, I might not have survived.” Xue Zhao smiled slightly and said, “Now that you need help, how can I leave you here alone? No matter what my role is, I will do my best to assist, even if I’m insignificant in your eyes.”

A wave of disappointnt suddenly swept through Situ Jiuyue’s heart.

So it was friendship. It was because of the life-saving grace. That’s right, this young man had always been clear about love and hate, repaying good and avenging wrongs, so his thoughts towards himself must be the sa. He was a person of light and should not harbor any longing for soone like herself, who lived in darkness.

There might be a Jiang Li in the world to save Jih Heng, but there wasn’t necessarily a Xue Zhao to save Situ Jiuyue, especially since he couldn’t even save himself and would only be dragged down into the abyss by her.

“Indeed, you can’t help with anything,” said Situ Jiuyue icily, “so your coming here is a mistake. Go back. I will find a way to send you away from Molan. Don’t co back in the future. You and I are fundantally different; I am a princess of Molan, and you should go back to being a swordsman.”

Her dismissive attitude instantly stopped Xue Zhao in his tracks, leaving him sowhat at a loss. However, Situ Jiuyue did not give him another opportunity to speak. Instead, she instructed Hai Tang to take care of Xue Zhao, then left herself.

Xue Zhao sat in place, watching the figure of Situ Jiuyue walk away briskly, a surge of frustration flooding his heart. He couldn’t help but bang on the table, just like when he was a child, saying, “Xue Zhao, you’re really stupid…”

“Young Master,” said Hai Tang cautiously, “it seems the princess is angry.”

“I know,” Xue Zhao replied, “I…” He wasn’t a boy who was clumsy with words. On the contrary, he was always causing trouble in Tongxiang when he was younger and was quite articulate. Although he was a solid and honest person, he was not foolish. But in front of Situ Jiuyue, he always felt at a loss, as if there were words he could easily say to others that he couldn’t seem to utter in front of her.

Seeing him so painfully embarrassed, Hai Tang chuckled, prompting Xue Zhao to ask in confusion, “What are you laughing at?”

“You really like the princess, don’t you?” said Hai Tang.

Xue Zhao was startled; his face imdiately turned red, and he stamred, “You, what nonsense are you talking about…”

“So, the young master doesn’t like the princess? Well, she is always so cold.”

“No,” Xue Zhao hurriedly replied when he heard this, “she’s just cold on the outside but warm on the inside. Why wouldn’t I like her…”

“So the young master does like the princess,” Hai Tang interrupted Xue Zhao’s words, “doesn’t he?”

Xue Zhao fell silent, unable to deny it. Hai Tang had been with the Xue Family for so many years and, in so ways, was like the sister who watched him grow up. If Hai Tang could see it, then he must be making it very obvious. To keep hiding it would not be forthright.

“I do like her,” Xue Zhao wanted to admit it loudly, but as he continued speaking, he started to feel sowhat timid, “Is that not okay?”

“It’s not that it’s not okay, but if the young master likes her, why not tell the princess clearly?” Hai Tang asked with a smile.

“I…” Xue Zhao hesitated, looking down at his legs.

If only he weren’t such a cripple…

“Is the young master concerned about his own leg?” Hai Tang inquired.

Xue Zhao’s embarrassed look gradually faded, and he beca serious, saying, “No, it’s not that.”

Hai Tang didn’t understand.

“Even though my legs cannot stand, that doesn’t make feel inferior. It was Princess Yongning’s fault, not mine; I don’t need to bla myself for that. On the contrary, I’m working hard to do what I could do standing up, even without standing. Like the whip technique, like protecting those around . I believe, for anyone, whether disabled or not, the feelings one has for soone they like are precious and shouldn’t be viewed lightly because of one’s status.”

“Why is it, then… that you refuse to tell her?”
