Yin Zhiqing felt the utmost sorrow in her heart, yet she didn’t know whom she could turn to talk about it. Without realizing it, she found herself outside Jiang Li’s tent.
Inside the tent, a figure sat quietly, and Yin Zhiqing walked in. The soldiers guarding the entrance did not stop her.
Jiang Li was sitting inside the tent, a lamp lit upon the table. She rested her head on one hand, seemingly lost in thought. Hearing a noise, she turned her head to look and her gaze froze upon Yin Zhiqing’s face.
Yin Zhiqing’s face was streaked with tears.
Jiang Li furrowed her brows, "County Princess? What’s the matter with you?"
It was just a simple question, but it triggered all the panic and helplessness, injustice and resentnt that Yin Zhiqing had suppressed over the past few days. She quickly took a few steps forward and said to Jiang Li, "Did you already know?"
"Know what?" Jiang Li looked at her, puzzled.
A surge of imnse grief exploded in Yin Zhiqing’s heart. She said, "Know that it was my father who killed Duke Su’s parents, and now it’s Duke Su’s turn to take revenge for his parents."
Jiang Li was taken aback. She knew about the feud between the Jih family and the Yin Household, but Jih Heng had not disclosed to her the details, including that her parents were killed by Yin Zhan. It seed that Yin Zhiqing had already found out.
"How did you co to know this?" asked Jiang Li.
"Yin Zhili told ," Yin Zhiqing slumped into a chair as if all her strength had left her.
"Why would Yin Zhili tell you about this?" Jiang Li asked. "Could it be that Yin Zhan..."
Yin Zhiqing burst into tears. Seeing her like this, Jiang Li guessed that her suspicions were probably very close to the truth. Yin Zhan had died? That would an Jih Heng was safe, and the heart that she had been holding tight could finally relax. She had been confined here for days, unable to learn news from outside, so the news that Yin Zhiqing brought, however it was considered, was a piece of good news.
However, for Yin Zhiqing, that might not be the case. She cried heart-wrenchingly, constantly muttering, "Why...why has it turned out this way?"
This was actually not Yin Zhiqing’s fault. Yin Zhan’s decision had ruined both Yin Zhili and Yin Zhiqing. From the looks of it, they were unaware, and rely because of Yin Zhan’s ambition, they had to bear such great pain.
Jiang Li said softly, "This is not your fault, you don’t need to bla yourself."
Yin Zhiqing did not stop crying upon hearing this, and Jiang Li continued, "Can you help leave this place?"
Yin Zhiqing’s crying suddenly stopped, and she looked at Jiang Li with confusion.
"Yin Zhili plans to use to threaten Jih Heng, which you know. I know you care for Jih Heng, and you wouldn’t want her to get hurt. If Jih Heng is hurt because of , I too will feel pain, and you won’t remain indifferent. I know you are unhappy here. If you rescue , I will leave with you, away from here. You don’t have to fulfil a destiny that should not be yours."
Yin Zhiqing looked at Jiang Li dumbstruck. Jiang Li had shown her a completely different path. In these murky, troubled tis, the path was so clear, so bright, so desirable that she almost couldn’t help nodding imdiately, escaping with Jiang Li to freedom.
However, she didn’t reply and after a long ti, she said, "I can’t do that."
Jiang Li watched her silently.
"These soldiers, they do not take orders from . Even though I have martial arts skills, I can’t fight against so many people. You are being watched by them; I can’t take you away right under their noses. And then there’s my mother; I can’t possibly take two people with . If I ran away with you, they would take their anger out on my mother. Yin Zhili might not do such a thing, but others... those who would suffer because of this might take all their anger out on my mother."
Her words were clear and distinct, her cheeks still wet with tears, but she did not continue to cry. Instead, it was as if she had thought everything through, and she said, "And I cannot leave. My surna is Yin; I simply can’t escape this fate. Where could you take ? Apart from the Yin family, no one would protect . People would consider a traitor and they’d rather kill quickly than keep alive."
Jiang Li sighed softly. Everyone had their own position, and what Yin Zhiqing said was not wrong. If Jiang Li were in Yin Zhiqing’s position, she would feel just as lost and struggling, and after all, the one to bla was Yin Zhiqing’s father, Yin Zhan. By reason and sentint, Yin Zhiqing would not accept the offer.
However, there was still sothing Jiang Li did not understand, and she asked, "Do you know what exactly is the cause of the feud between Jih Heng and the Yin family, if your father really killed Jih Heng’s parents back then, why did he kill them?"
