Agatha’s gone.

Having that thought in my head made realize where the fire originated. It was almost as if I could hear her screams of agony, or maybe it was my mind playing tricks on .

My head flashed through the mories, the last ti I held my mother’s hand as she left us alone in this world, she was mostly bedridden, and treated in the mansion, never leaving her room.

Athena and I would always stay by her and listen to her shallow breath until the mont it stopped.

Elias remarried. The first ti I saw Agatha, and how she smiled at . The first day she ca into my room.

Elias’ discipline as his cane struck my back and shoulders, as he enforced what kind of man he wanted to be.

After my expulsion from my boarding school, Elias was furious at for the Headmaster’s death. But I couldn’t tell him why I did it. The first ti I glared hatred at Agatha, her tears as she tried to blackmail emotionally to co back to her.

The struggle... the pain... the darkness... the cold, unwanted touch that has plagued for half my life. My effort as I built power to escape my demons. I thought I escaped them, because now the feeling taking over wasn’t like the one I felt years ago.

I felt like a free man for the first ti in my life.

A warm hand grasped my face, and my eyes connected with hazel eyes. Catherine used her thumb to brush the wetness away from my face.

"Even broken things can heal..." she said.

For once in my life, I believed I could heal.

In a rugged breath, I captured her lips in mine, rushed and passionate.

"I love you too..." she breathed, responding to my confession.

I smiled, kissing her more fiercely.

"We have made progress in the last month. Making this a couple’s therapy was the best decision yet. You were both able to heal, together."

"Thank you, Dr. Miller..." Catherine said with a smile on her lips.

He smiled back at her.

"I must add that your advice to burn away problems ca in handy."

I raised an eyebrow at her words and how casually they were thrown out.

"Did it? You an when I ntioned writing it down and throwing them into the flas?"

"Yes! That... I think that’s how it went."

I leaned close to her ear and spoke slowly in a way that only she could hear . "Is that so, baby? I see where you got the idea."

She tensed but kept her composure.

"I’m glad that could help." He pressed the end of the pen. "Shall we begin our session? I have a feeling today will go quite well..." He locked his gaze with , amusent drowning them. "As Mrs. King once said, you have bad juju, but now there’s none of it clinging to you anymore."

The last place I wanted to be was therapy, but Catherine talked through it, and now it has beco sothing like a regular occurrence.

After an hour of talking and other things that ca with it, we were done.

I watched as Catherine chatted with Dr. Miller. I couldn’t seem to get enough of her. Sotis, I wonder how I was able to have such a woman beside . It amazes up to this mont.

I pulled out my phone and dialed Nico’s number.

"Boss?" Nico was quick to answer.

"Tonight..." I uttered, and I knew he got my ssage.

"You wanna do this? I thought you were gonna... I don’t know... let it slide?"

"Not when it cos to my wife. You know the plan, make my movent known towards the underground fight ring. Have Carlo know I’ll be eting him in a few hours."

"On it, boss."

I ended the call just when Athena’s call ca in. I walked close to the window, watching my city as I answered.

"Sister..."

"Brother..." she said sweetly.

She sounded better. Happy.

It compelled a smile on my lips, only for it to drop the next second.

"You sound like a weak old goat."

"I’ll take that as a complint. How’s your trip?"

"Odd for you to ask that... wanna know who’s curled up on my sheets too?"

I frowned. "Spare the details."

"Whatever."

I was glad she finally gave Isaac the chance, although it was clear about my obvious distaste for him, but I was willing to set that aside. What Athena needed right now was a companion.

"How long will your vacation take?"

"As long as possible until I say otherwise. I think I’m better off taking as much sea air as I want... the view is nice, and it’s quiet."

"Athena..."

"Hmm...?"

When I didn’t say a word, I could tell she was smiling, and I knew she read my mind that mont.

"Have fun..." She blew a kiss before ending the call.

I slowly walked the corridor, stepping into the casino. I observed everything from the second floor until my eyes settled on Vixen at the table, talking with the dealer.

I pushed off the railing and ambled down the stairs, and before her n could step in, mine already acted.

She looked up, eyes going wide in shock as I sat opposite her.

"How about a ga, Vixen...?" I asked, picking up the cards. "You love gas, don’t you?"

She was yet to say a word, still gaping at like she had seen a ghost. It was expected, given the fact that my movent was claid to be at the fighting ring.

After Nico narrowed down Isaac’s movents, everything else fell in place. The caras in the penthouse had been ssed with, which ant most of the footage I saw while I was away was recorded. Catherine was never ho at night.

I think everything clicked in after the King’s estate fire.

I focused too much on trying to pin down a stranger, not knowing my closet associate was soone next to , which explains why her moves were done perfectly and felt like there was a mirror over .

There was only one person who had ever seen all of .

"The stakes will be higher... I heard that’s your style."

Have I ntioned how fucking sexy she looks in a black wig? And those green eye contacts made picture how they would look drowned in pleasure.

Her lips pressed together, two beats passed before an irresistible grin spread on her black painted lips.

"I have dread of this mont..." Her voice was softer, husky, and the urge to hunt down every male that had heard such a seductive voice was tempting.

"I knew you would figure it out one way or the other. I just wasn’t expecting it so soon." She leaned upright, and I got a good view of her dress, tight against her fra.

"Are you mad?" she asked.

"Maybe," I murmured. "I’ll tell you what I’m thinking... Only if you win."

"The joke’s on you Don King, because I don’t plan on losing."

I’d seen her angry, seen her soft.. but this? This is new. And I liked it far more than I should.
