Chapter 60 : The Edge-Stopping Challenge ()

Just as Vivian erged from her mories and was about to close her eyes, she happened to notice the striking crimson eye on the white-haired maid’s profile.

“Heh, finally awake? You—”

Her words abruptly stopped. Vivian unconsciously clenched the bedsheet. Sohow… she realized she was afraid.

The face turned slightly further toward her, and with the lightning flashing outside the window, the sight was genuinely frightening.

“Hey, what is with that look? I have not even settled accounts with you yet, you bastard!” Vivian pointed at her nose and scolded — but in the next mont she could no longer remain triumphant.

Eve moved.

Not sitting up, but suddenly lunging forward like madness, pressing her down. Her strength was considerable; gripping her wrist painfully tight.

“Ugh… you are hurting !” Vivian struggled, kicking her legs, yet the difference in strength made it useless.

“What are you doing?!”

No response.

Only the body pinning her down, and those blood-colored eyes locking onto prey, their terrifying focus fixed on Vivian’s neck.

“I will say it again! Let go!” Vivian shouted sharply, but the silence frightened her more than the thunder outside.

That face was still beautiful, yet now seed masked. She could feel the body trembling, tense.

Then Eve slowly lowered her head, silver hair brushing Vivian’s cheek and sending a shiver through her.

“What are you trying to do…” Vivian’s body stiffened completely. Her pupils shrank and her voice weakened.

The next second, she saw slightly parted lips revealing teeth — white, but she had no ti to think about that.

By the ti she realized, Eve had already bitten her neck.

“Mm…”

It tickled, with a faint sting — strangely comfortable…

The fangs rely rested against the skin, then slid slightly in a brushing motion. The sensation was difficult to describe, both odd and intimate.

Warm, heavy breathing fell on sensitive skin. Vivian shuddered, goosebumps rising, and a soft sound escaped her.

All she heard was her racing heartbeat and the rain outside. The teeth pressed lightly, lifted, pressed again — never fully biting.

“You bastard… it tickles… ah… are you even listening to ?”

It was unbearable — both pleasant and frustrating, suspended without release.

Was this intentional? It had to be.

“Ha… ha…”

The increasingly obvious breathing was not Vivian’s — it was Eve’s.

Her face showed pain. The hidden mark at her neck burned like fire. Eyes tightly shut, sweat forming on her brow, as if suffering for the first ti.

Inside, a fierce struggle raged — reason fighting instinctive hunger.

Desire urged her to bite down, pierce the skin, taste life.

The remaining consciousness warned her not to beco a mindless monster. So she rely pressed against Vivian’s neck, trembling each ti the impulse surged.

What appeared intimate was in truth silent self-restraint.

Two and a half minutes passed — to Vivian it felt like an eternity.

Then a long sigh.

The pressure on her neck vanished. The tense body collapsed limply atop her.

The storm ended.

“Huh?” Vivian blinked, then sha and anger surged.

This… bastard! Reckless! How dare she treat her like this!

“You—!” She opened her mouth to curse, yet her throat was dry and the words would not co.

The body on top of her was exhausted and unmoving, silver hair scattered across her neck and pillow.

More importantly, Eve was holding her — not tightly, yet enough to feel their heartbeats.

Vivian froze, her thoughts disrupted by the sudden embrace. Only their gradually calming breaths and the rain outside remained.

She did not understand how things had beco like this. It did not feel intentional — only strange.

“So soft…”

Was she talking in her sleep?

“Sorry…”

Vivian clicked her tongue. So she was dreaming — and still apologizing?

After a long stalemate, her half-numb body forced a reluctant snort.

“Heavy… you idiot,” she muttered harshly, yet her movents were slow.

She relaxed, lifted her arm, and wrapped it around the powerless white-haired maid.

She stopped looking at Eve’s face and no longer tried to wake her. “Hmph. You are lucky. If you do not explain properly tomorrow, I will not forgive you.”

She closed her eyes, ignoring the lingering tingling at her neck and the unrest in her heart.

In Eve’s fading consciousness, the last trace of crimson disappeared, leaving only exhaustion.

A peaceful night…

……

Morning ca after the rain ceased, leaving only the scent of earth and grass filling every corner.

Eve’s awareness gradually returned — first sll, faint soap fragrance; then touch, warmth and softness in her arms.

Warmth? Softness?

Her eyes snapped open.

For a few seconds her vision was unfocused. Then mories surfaced — the crimson vision, uncontrolled impulse, thirst, trembling beneath her.

Thankfully… she had not failed.

As clarity returned, she realized she was lying on her side, arms wrapped possessively around a familiar figure.

Vivian still slept. Red hair lay ssy, strands clinging near her slightly parted lips.

All arrogance gone, she looked small, soft, defenseless within the bed and Eve’s embrace.

Entirely unguarded.
