"This is not what I ant when I said yes!" Kizeler yelled as he ran away, the fastest he could, from a horde of rampaging ice bears wanting to eat him alive.

Seconds later, he glanced at the demon lying on one of the tree branches and sighed.

’Sleeping again in this broad daylight!’ He added to his thoughts.

They were in a snowfield filled with huge, scattered trees; clawmarks covered their trunks, indicating that the area was a territory of monsters.

The place was located several kiloters away from the town where they picked up the mission in regards to Kizeler’s upgrading of class.

At first, Kizeler intended to search for a group of rcenaries and join them on their hunt. However, he chose to go alone, rembering the chaos that the demon could bring.

Even until now, he had failed to understand his line of thinking. So he made up his mind and picked bear subjugation for his mission. Any Erald-class could do the task. Even though it was still not enough to make his class rank up, he thought that it was the best for now.

He looked back and saw the large beasts still chasing him with their wide-open mouths. Each of them was twice the size of an adult human, and there were almost ten of them running behind him.

"This is absurd," he uttered.

Then he surveyed the area to think about how he could fend off the bears. But aside from the towering trees and the thick pile of snow, he found nothing else.

’I think that will do,’ he thought as he focused his sight on a large tree with thick and wide limbs.

The next second, he concentrated his energy underneath his feet and ran up into its trunk. As he reached one of its branches that could handle his weight, he jumped into it without hesitation.

Then he looked down, and like he expected, he saw the bears growling beneath the tree. They looked at him with their furious eyes, and they began to climb by sticking out their sharp claws on its trunk.

Kizeler positioned himself in the middle of the branch. He intended to fight the monsters one after another in this narrow space.

But as he realized how high he was from the ground, he gulped. After all, creating platforms of energy to levitate up in the air was an impossible feat for him as of now; he would be done the mont he made a wrong step and fell.

As soon as the first bear reached the branch on which he was standing, it leaped into it and stayed for a mont. It checked its strength to see if it could handle its enormous size. Then, as soon as the monster realized that it wasn’t budging, it glared at Kizeler and lunged with its claws protruding from its large paws.

Kizeler raised his sword, enhanced it with his energy, and blocked the monster’s attack. He gritted his teeth as he felt the imnse strength coming from the creature.

Then he parried the paw sideways and ducked the other one coming at him before he spun around and pierced the bear’s chest with the tip of his sword in a backward motion. Afterward, he pulled it out with his left hand and swung it around him, decapitating the monster’s head. Blood gushed out and splattered on him while the creature’s huge body fell to the ground.

Then another one charged at him with its mouth wide open, almost biting his neck if he was a second late in raising his sword.

Kizeler was trying his best to push the bear; however, as soon as it shook its head, he had no choice but to let go of his blade and step backward.

"Damn it!" He cussed.

Without any weapon on hand, Kizeler prepared himself to fight using his fists and feet. Even though he only knew a little from hand to hand, he remained calm and studied the monster.

He inhaled a deep breath, and little by little, his left eye turned purple before a white hexagram pattern erged on its iris.

"Now, co at !" He exclaid.

anwhile, Zeno opened his eyes and stared at the leaves swaying in the sky. He was now wearing a maroon-colored coat.

It was a hooded one and long enough to reach his leg.

"He still used it," he uttered.

Then he sat up and stretched his hand upward, causing his sleeves to fall down, revealing the na ’Eliana’ written in red capital letters on his wrist.

Before they went to hunt monsters, he instructed Kizeler not to use his Legacy while fighting. Zeno believed that sotis having a unique and strong Legacy was a downside to an individual’s growth. They would keep relying on their Legacy instead of honing their fighting skills, and they would be helpless upon eting a being with a much stronger Legacy.

"Bringing him here would be pointless if I just let him do what he wanted to," he said before leaping down from the tree branch.

Without letting his feet touch the snow, he propelled himself in the direction where Kizeler was facing the group of monsters.

It took him more than a minute to arrive at the place, and all the bears were dead underneath the shade of the tree. They were lying on the red-colored snow while his human companion was up there looking at them with a worn-out expression.

As soon as Kizeler noticed the silver-haired man looking at him from a distance. He first hopped down on the tree trunk to decrease his montum before plunging downward and walking towards the demon.

"You failed," Zeno said while looking straight into the human’s eyes.

"But I would die if I didn’t use it," Kizeler replied, stating his reason to defend himself.

Then Zeno walked to his left and picked up Kizeler’s sword. He threw it at Kizeler, and as soon as the human caught it, he spoke.

"Activate your Legacy, and I’ll show you how weak you are," Zeno said.

Kizeler’s eyes widened upon hearing the demon’s declaration, but still, he did as he was told. However, as soon as he blinked his eyes, a palm obstructed his vision, and the demon appeared right before him.

"Your reaction speed..." Zeno said as he smashed Kizeler’s head into the ground.

"Is way too slow," he added before he stood up and looked at the human.

The demon’s surprise attack made Kizeler’s head tremble due to the sudden hit. He kept lying for a few seconds and just stared at the sky.

"You’re just too fast," he retorted.

Then he put his hand right beside his head and lifted his leg upward before pushing down on the ground to give him enough montum to stand up.

"Listen, an outstanding Legacy doesn’t always an that its user is powerful, but a fighter with great physique, trendous reaction speed, and vast knowledge regarding energy control could take down monsters much bigger than them in a matter of seconds," Zeno said after he started to walk away.

As he reached a certain distance, he turned around and drew a circle with his foot around him, then looked at Kizeler.

"Attack with all that you’ve got; if you manage to harm in any way possible or you make step out of this circle, you win!" Zeno exclaid.

"But what do I get if I win?" Kizeler replied, which made the demo burst into laughter.

"Keep dreaming, though for you to do your best, I’ll tell you a secret about your Legacy if you manage to," Zeno answered, grinning.

Then he raised his hand and signaled for the human to co.

’Secret?’ Kizeler thought.

The demon’s words intrigued him, and he decided to win this little bet of theirs no matter what.

The next second, he charged at Zeno with the sword in his hand. He aid it at his head without hesitation; after all, he was sure that the demon would evade or sohow block his strike.

However, as his blade ca closer to the demon, he noticed that he had no intention to move or dodge the attack. Instead, he yawned and closed his eyes, but Kizeler continued to swing his sword despite seeing his actions.

As soon as the blade ca into contact with Zeno, it shattered, and Kizeler saw it with his very own eyes. The attack didn’t even reach the demon’s skin; there was a few inches of gap when his sword broke.

"Are you done?" Zeno asked as he noticed that the human had stopped moving.

"And who said that?" Kizeler replied as he jumped upward to give Zeno a kick packed with almost all of his energy.

His next move had the power, though still not strong enough to make Zeno budge from his position. With his eyes still closed, Zeno blocked Kizeler’s leg with the use of one finger.

But the human spun in mid-air and proceeded to kick him with his other leg. However, a shockwave that ca from Zeno’s center sent Kizeler flying into the air.

His body drew an arc before crashing into a tree. Despite the pain he felt, he still looked at the demon after he fell, srized by the sudden outburst of energy.

"How is that even possible?" He asked, confused.

Then Zeno turned around to face him and satisfy his curiosity.

"With a sufficient amount of energy and timing, you can make your energy explode in the form of a shockwave; the strength will differ though in regards to the amount that you’ll provide," he answered.

Then he raised his hand and swung it at his side; the nearby tree was cut down in an instant, even though there were several ters between them.

"And with imnse energy control, even your finger can be a devastating weapon," he added.
