The monster stared at the group of humans, shivering in fear. He was searching for soone capable of killing one of his comrades, but none of them fit the criteria.

Afterward, he looked around the place, and as soon as he saw the monster corpse with five sets of wings lying in the near distance, he yelled.

"You guys here are nothing compared to Anreajhs; how did you manage to kill that filthy bird?" He asked, curious about what really happened to his companion.

"We’re not the ones responsible for his death," one of the Ruby-class rcenaries said, brave enough to answer the monster’s question.

"What did you say to this Lord?" The monster grunted.

Then he exhaled a deep breath, and clouds of smoke puffed out from his nose. However, the man didn’t speak any longer as the monster glared at him.

Upon hearing no reply, the monster stamped his right foot on the ground, which made the surroundings tremble. Fissures appeared while the part of the land underneath the monster caved due to the strength of his stomp. Most of the rcenaries fell on their buttocks, while others stayed standing still by sticking their weapons in front of them.

"Don’t let this Lord repeat his words!" The monster said while scanning his eyes through the rcenaries.

"It’s the demon! The silver-haired demon who went deep inside the dungeon killed your friend!" Another man yelled.

Then, as he captured the monster’s attention, he pointed in the direction where Zeno and the others were headed.

"W-we don’t have anything to do with that man!" Even Goor joined in the fray, hoping that the monster would spare them, even though he had a hard ti speaking.

He tried to move his fingers, and upon noticing that his strength was returning little by little, he glanced in the priestess’ direction, who was now lying in one of the rcenaries’ arms.

’Please just go and leave us alone,’ he thought.

’Even with my Legacy, I won’t stand a chance to win against this bull,’ he added, as cold sweat began to appear on his forehead.

"And how can this Lord make sure that what you’re telling him is the truth?" He asked.

Goor gulped as he heard the monster’s question, but he didn’t let his fear take over his ntality. He stood up, and stared at the monster.

"If I’m not mistaken, the great Lord had already grasped each of us here’s battle potential, and we fell short of your glory. This group of humans would not dare to trick the great Lord," Goor replied using his wits.

With flowery words, he tried to garner the monster’s good side, and he succeeded.

"Hmnn! For you to recognize this Lord’s greatness, I have decided," the minotaur stated, nodding while looking at him.

"D-Decided for?" Goor asked while hoping for his plan to work.

"I’ll spare you..." The monster paused and diverted his eyes to the humans staring at him, then began pointing at them before continuing his words.

"And the rest can die!" He added. Then the group of rcenaries began to fall to the ground; their mouths were foaming, and after a few seconds, their bodies began to tremble for a minute before they stopped moving.

"W-What h-have you done?" Goor asked, his voice quavering.

He looked at Rye straight away; his heart was pounding so fast, but upon seeing her still knockout and not having any bubbles in her mouth, he let out a sigh of relief.

The monster rejoiced, and his laughter sounded inside the place. Then he glanced at the human standing right before him and spoke.

"Do you like to co with this Lord and hunt that demon? Let’s avenge our comrades!" He exclaid.

Goor raised his hand and gestured with a no while shaking his head.

"It’s my pleasure to be invited and to witness the Lord’s overwhelming victory against that demon; however, I can’t live with these corpses lying around here so that when you return, this place will be glorious enough to welco you," he said and even bowed his head to totally convince the monster.

Upon hearing him, the smile on the monster’s face beca even wider.

"You’re correct! This Lord likes how you always praised him. Then wait for this Lord’s return. This Lord will definitely bring that demon’s head as a trophy." He bid his parting words and dashed towards the inside of the dungeon to hunt down the silver-haired man.

Goor was left there, looking at the monster’s silhouette as it faded from his vision. Afterward, he pulled his mask down and smiled.

"If you can still return after eting that bastard," he uttered, then he proceeded to check everyone’s pulse, but like he had expected, all of them were dead.

. . . . .

anwhile, Jez raised his arm, and a gigantic hand made of energy appeared above, protecting them from the sudden splashes of rain.

’What are these?’ Royle thought as he didn’t allow a single speck of water droplets to fall on his palm.

The tidal wave lasted for several seconds. Even though it was the first ti for Jez’s group to experience such a thrilling event, no one of them asked what happened.

They already knew the culprit and the one accountable for this level of destruction; it was none other than the demon who left them a few monts ago.

Then, as soon as the rain stopped, the psychopomp spoke all of a sudden.

"I’ll do it!" She said, which captured the three people’s attention.

Different emotions erged from Royle’s face, and he even asked again to clarify her confirmation.

"Did you just say what we wanted to hear from you?" It was Royle who initiated the conversation.

"I’ll give you a hand regarding your concerns," the woman said again.

"Is this real? Where’s the change of heart coming from?" Royle comnted, then he stood up.

He couldn’t hide his joy at what he heard from the woman.

’We’re halfway done saving you, Alles. Just wait a little longer,’ he thought.

Like Royle, the duke failed to hide his excitent upon hearing the psychopomp’s response to their request.

"That’s great!" Jez exclaid.

"That’s very good to know," even the man with the machete said, showing how glad he was.

The next second, Jez looked at where Zeno was previously standing, and a smile protruded from his lips.

’All that’s missing is that ball of fire,’ he thought.

Afterward, they traversed the path that the demon walked through; this ti, they beca more careful of their surroundings, especially the Ruby-class rcenary. They didn’t want to repeat the sa mistake they made last ti.

While the woman—the psychopomp—followed at them from behind. Jez was glancing several tis at his back to keep watch on her; in fact, there was no need for him to monitor her action, but he wanted to make sure that she wouldn’t leave any second from now and put them back to square one.

"Is detecting my presence not enough for you to keep in check?" The psychopomp asked as she noticed the duke’s little doings.

"I won’t run," she said, reassuring the group.

As soon as the duke heard her words pertaining to him, he lowered his head and scratched the back of his head. Then he started asking a question to divert the group’s attention from what the woman had said.

"Ahmmn, Miss Pyschopomp, can you please tell us your na? I am Jez," he asked, then introduced himself upon turning around and beginning to walk backwards.

"Does knowing my na have any importance?" The woman answered with a question.

Jez’s mind experienced a short circuit upon hearing the psychopomp’s reply; he didn’t expect such an answer coming from a living being.

"I guess knowing each other’s na gives us a better way of communicating, and everyone here will feel sowhat at ease," he tried to explain what he wanted to convey.

However, the Ruby-class rcenary chid in on the conversation all of a sudden.

"Is that really the case? But you guys do not even care to ask what my na is," he stated, which made Jez facepalm, and even Royle, who had been listening until now, let out a wide smile before shaking his head.

"Just forget it!" Jez yelled and was about to turn around when they heard the woman’s voice again.

"Heaire, you can call Heaire," she said.

. . . . .

"I-I will not dare talk any further," Tencent uttered, lowering his head after hearing the demon’s threat.

"Hmnn." Zeno nodded before speaking.

"There are things that are much better left buried in the past than spoken about, and let everyone know about them," he said, then he resud his steps towards the gloomy-looking swamp.

The giant snake stared at the demon’s back; his mind was filled with thoughts about him.

’No, you’re wrong; it’s not just your past that should be buried in the enigma of ti; your whole existence should,’ Tencent conveyed on his head before following the demon’s trail.
