Chapter 1036: Chapter 1034-Fuck Me Sideways!
A silence fell into the whole place. Elowen sitting silently, waiting for the time for her family to e and get her. And once she is out with the money she had saved up, she will put a hit on the head of this infuriating kid and she will relax and smile, watching and drinking as she enjoys the kid being ripped apart.
‘Ahhh….. the happy life~’
Just imagining that made her feel a sense of peace, the stress the kid had caused her melting away as she waited for her promised future. Sadly for her, she didn’t know that 2 god class beings had their eyes on her, and from here on out the words peaceful life would be ripped and torn away from her pletely and utterly and fully.
Thus while the turtle moved in its calm yet surprisingly fast fashion, suddenly it came to a stop. It wasn’t just a simple stop though….
Boom!
With that sound the whole turtle shifted as the two of them fell to the side. The sheer force had knocked the turtle sideways making it topple over, a loud roar of pain being heard from the side like something breaking.
Roar!
It was a roar of pain and anger. One should know the beast in question, the tortoise being an Origin realm 4 beast, one used towards defence. To push it aside pletely and to pull off such a move is no easy feat at all.
‘What the fuck is going on!?’
Elowen shouted internally, feeling quite depressed with this day in her life. She had been having such a nice, peaceful morning, winning money, planning her next drinking session, and generally avoiding anything that required actual effort. And now? Now she was stuck in a custody turtle that was apparently being attacked by who-knows-what, with a dramatic merman brother she never asked for clinging to her like a barnacle.
The turtle rocked violently again, sending both of them tumbling across the cell floor like dice in a gambler’s cup. Elowen landed on her back with a grunt, the mana-blocking cuffs digging unfortably into her wrists. The merman, of course, landed right on top of her, his face pressed against her chest as he let out a dramatic
“Oof!”
“Get off me, you walking disaster!”
Elowen hissed, shoving him away with her cuffed hands. The merman rolled off with a pitiful whine, rubbing his newly acquired black eye.
“But Big Sis, I’m scared! What if it’s the crab’s secret revenge squad? Or worse, my ex-girlfriend’s family? She was really mad when I borrowed her savings for that ‘sure thing’ bet last month!”
Elowen stared at him in disbelief.
“You have an ex-girlfriend? Of course you do. The universe really hates me today.”
The turtle shook again, this time with a loud cracking sound from outside. The walls of the shell cell groaned under the pressure, and Elowen could hear the muffled sounds of fighting, roars, splashes, and the distinct sound of something heavy hitting something even heavier.
The merman’s eyes widened ically.
“Big Sis, they’re ing for us! Quick, pretend we’re innocent! Or better yet, pretend I’m your emotional support brother!”
“You’re my emotional headache!”
Elowen shouted, pushing herself up and moving cautiously toward the cell door. The mana cuffs were suppressing her power pletely, making her feel annoyingly human and vulnerable. She hated that feeling. It reminded her too much of her previous life, the one where everything went to hell.
She pressed her ear against the shell door, listening. The fighting outside was getting louder, the deep roar of the custody turtle mixed with angry shouts and the sound of water being violently displaced. Whoever was attacking was strong. Really strong.
“Big Sis, what do we do?”
The merman whispered dramatically, crawling over to cling to her leg like a lost child.
“I’m too pretty to go to underwater prison! They’ll make me do hard labor! Or worse, munity service!”
Elowen looked down at him with pure exasperation.
“You are the reason we’re in this mess. If you hadn’t decided to turn our arrest into a family drama show, we might have just gotten a fine and been done with it.”
“But Big Sis, my acting was Oscar-worthy! Did you see how the crab believed me? I almost believed me!”
Elowen resisted the urge to kick him. Barely.
The fighting outside reached a crescendo. There was a massive crash, followed by the sound of the turtle’s shell cracking. The cell door groaned under the pressure, small fissures appearing in the reinforced material. Elowen backed away, her heart racing despite her best efforts to stay calm. Fighting with suppressed mana was not on her to-do list today. Or ever.
The merman, still clinging to her leg, looked up with wide eyes.
“Big Sis, if we die here, I want you to know that I always thought of you as family. Even if you did punch me in both eyes.”
“I will punch you in a third eye if you don’t shut up,”
Elowen hissed.
The door cracked louder. Then, with a final, violent burst, it was ripped away pletely.
Four assailants stood in the opening, all at peak Origin level 6, their auras radiating dangerous power. Two were shark beastmen with razor-sharp teeth and muscular builds, one was a massive eel-like creature with crackling electricity dancing along its body, and the last was a humanoid with octopus tentacles for arms, each one holding a wicked-looking blade.
They looked ready to kill.
Elowen’s heart sank.
‘This day just keeps getting better.’
The lead shark beastman grinned, revealing rows of sharp teeth. The merman let out a terrified squeak and hid behind Elowen, still clinging to her leg.
“Big Sis, protect me! You’re the strong one!”
Elowen wanted to scream. Instead, she raised her cuffed hands in a placating gesture.
“Look, this is all a misunderstanding. I don’t even know this guy. Just let me go, and you can have him. He’s the one who caused all the trouble.”
The octopus-armed assailant laughed, his tentacles writhing. The four assailants moved forward, weapons raised, ready to attack.
Elowen braced herself, mana suppressed and options limited. This was going to be ugly. She was calculating her chances of surviving long enough for her family to intervene when a new voice cut through the tension.
“Enough.”
A handsome Bloomkin man in his early 30s stepped into the broken doorway, his presence manding immediate attention. He had the same rich bronze skin as Elowen, with elegant fin-membranes on his shoulders and glowing bloom spots along his arms. His amber eyes were sharp and confident, and he moved with the easy grace of someone who knew exactly how powerful he was.
Elowen’s eyes widened in recognition.
“Kal?”
The man Kael Vidre, her childhood friend and one of the stronger warriors in the Bloomkin tribe gave her a small, wry smile.
“Looks like you’re in trouble again.”
Without hesitation, Kal moved. He pushed the four assailants back with a single, powerful burst of symbiotic energy, the living coral patterns on his skin glowing brightly as he created a protective barrier around Elowen and the merman. His hands moved in a fluid motion, and the mana-blocking cuffs on Elowen’s wrists shattered, releasing her suppressed power in a rush that made her feel alive again.
The four assailants recovered quickly, surrounding the three of them with hostile intent. The merman, sensing safety, immediately moved around cautiously, looking around funny before quickly catching onto Elowen’s leg again, crying dramatically,
“Big Sis, don’t leave me! My Big Sis! Save your poor little brother!”
The assailants looked around curiously for a moment, then their bloodlust exploded fully focused on the three of them but especially on the merman, who was still clinging to Elowen’s leg like a barnacle.
Elowen felt her life flash before her eyes again.
‘This is it. This is how my peaceful life ends. In a custody turtle. With a fake brother.’
Kaelan sighed, cracking his knuckles. The four assailants lunged forward, and the fight erupted in the cramped space of the custody turtle’s broken cell.
Elowen, power restored, moved with graceful efficiency, her Bloomkin abilities blooming to life as glowing floral patterns spread across her skin. She dodged a shark guard’s attack and countered with a powerful strike that sent him crashing into the wall. Kaelan fought with calm precision, his symbiotic energy creating living coral shields and whip-like vines that restrained the attackers.
The merman, still clinging to Elowen’s leg, somehow managed to trip one of the assailants by “accidentally” extending his tail at the perfect moment.
“Big Sis, I helped! Did you see that? I’m useful!”
Elowen wanted to scream. Instead, she kicked another attacker away while trying to shake the merman off her leg.
“Get off me! You’re making this worse!”
The fight was chaotic, funny in its absurdity, and far too loud for Elowen’s liking. The custody turtle rocked violently as the battle continued, the four assailants proving to be surprisingly resilient despite Kaelan’s intervention.
Outside, the sounds of fighting echoed through the water, drawing curious onlookers from the city streets. Elowen could only hope her family could solve this, because this day had gone from bad to worse to absolutely ridiculous, and she had a very strong feeling that her peaceful life was never ing back.
The merman, still attached to her leg, looked up with a bright smile.
“Big Sis, this is the most fun I’ve had in ages! We should do this more often!”
Elowen’s scream of frustration was lost in the chaos of battle as the fight continued, the custody turtle rocking like a ship in a storm, and her second chance at a quiet life officially declared dead on arrival.
The ocean had other plans for Elowen Vossara, and they were loud, chaotic, and apparently involved a dramatic merman brother she never wanted.
