Chapter 1035: Chapter 1033-Sigh……My Life….
The sharks had moved and crept closer, keeping the door closed tight. Surrounded from all sides, Elowen’s first gaze finally ended up on the merman in disguise lying on the ground, looking at her like she was his lost kin or something.
‘I am gonna beat the fuck out of him!’
Thinking that, Elowen didn’t hesitate as she jumped to beat the shit out of the male merman. Among the people gathered in the room right now, there is no doubt that she is definitely the strongest. The strongest here is the biggest shark sitting at the table, being at Origin level 6, and Elowen could easily crush him.
Thus, before anyone could react, Elowen was already in front of the merman male, while the two sharks that brought him in, standing behind him, didn’t even get the chance to blink. After which she was already in front of the merman, holding him by his neck, her fist held tight together as she punched.
“Since you are such a loving brother, take this fist of love from your big sister!”
Elowen shouted as her fist landed right in the kid’s left eye, which wasn’t already hit, soon forming a black eye on his left too, making him look a bit like a panda.
“Now hold your teeth tight!”
Were the next words Elowen screamed as she punched towards his mouth. And it was then that the door to the room was opened, and a bunch of strong-looking sharks and 2 mermaids rushed in. All four of them were wearing the uniform of the safety soldiers of this part of the city, all 4 of them at the peak of Origin level 6.
“Halt!”
One of the leading sharks shouted, and the next punch, which was headed towards the merman, stopped right before taking all his teeth as Elowen was surrounded from all sides. Sure, she was stronger than the 4 of them, but if she acted out now, the consequences would be far too annoying for her to handle.
So she let go of the merman as he fell to the ground with a thud, and she raised her hands in surrender.
“I won’t do anything.”
She said in a calm voice, but her eyes were spitting fire as she looked at the merman male lying on the ground, rubbing his bottom. Seeing that she was once again reminded to just beat the hell out of him, consequences be damned.
‘Tsk….. this is why men are the worst!’
Feeding her growing hate, the four of them moved quickly as one of them placed mana-blocking cuffs on Elowen, who didn’t resist at all. Her mind wandered towards how things got like this. The past month had been perfect, just shifting with the flow of water, and now she suddenly finds herself in cuffs even though she tried her best to stay away from trouble. It’s definitely a shitty situation for her from all sides.
“Officers! Thank you for your quick response! It would seem that these 2 are in cahoots and are cheating in my gambling den! And this one dared to attack too!”
Tim Kim the crab shouted with such indignance and grievance that for an instant Elowen thought she might have murdered his mom or something. The big shark sitting behind him on the chair was also nodding its head with bubbly, googly eyes of sadness.
“Such audacity! Do not worry, Sir Tim Kim, we shall deal with them to the fullest extent of the law, once we have all the information!”
One of the mermaid officers stepped up as she responded, his eyes filled with the greatest of vigilance and desire for justice. Though his eyes were shifting a bit between Elowen and the money Tim Kim was waving around. The two of them were acting so chummy with each other like they were sworn brothers or something.
‘Son of a bitch! They are in cahoots together! Fucking corrupt bastards!’
Elowen roared internally, already seeing the fact that she won’t be getting any kind of true justice here at all.
‘Sigh….. it would seem my family will have to step in.’
When Elowen thought of the word family, a great disdain burned in her, but she held it back. Only a fool won’t use the advantages they have, even if they hate the advantage in question. Sighing internally, she once again focused her eyes on the merman lying on the ground, looking all so pitiful like he didn’t belong there, and her anger only grew.
Thus, while she kept herself in check, the safety soldiers quickly got the rough statements and proof from the members and soon started to get taken out of the gambling den. The merman was also in cuffs as he was dragged away.
The walk out of the gambling den was humiliation mixed with Elowen’s growing desire to mit murder. The merman, still in cuffs, kept throwing himself dramatically against the shark guards, sobbing loudly enough to draw the attention of every single person on the street.
“Big Sis! Don’t let them separate us! We’re family!”
He wailed, his voice carrying like a bad underwater opera singer. Elowen’s face was burning with embarrassment as dozens of merfolk, penguin beastkin, and even a few octopuses stopped to stare at the spectacle. A group of young mermaids whispered excitedly, pointing at her like she was some kind of celebrity criminal.
“Is that the famous cheater Big Sis?~”
One of them giggled.
“I heard she scams the crab boss every week!”
Another added.
Elowen wanted to die. Or at least disappear into the nearest trench and never e out. This was supposed to be her peaceful second life. Instead, she was being paraded through the streets like a criminal mastermind with her fake little brother crying about their “special sibling bond.”
“Shut up,”
She hissed at the merman under her breath.
“I don’t know you. Stop calling me Big Sis.”
The merman, of course, ignored her pletely. He turned to the nearest group of onlookers with big, tear-filled eyes.
“My Big Sis is the best! She taught me everything! Even how to cry on mand to get out of trouble! But now she’s abandoning me because I got caught! Big Sis, how could you?!”
The crowd let out a collective “Awwwww” of sympathy. A few older merfolk shook their heads at Elowen disapprovingly.
“Such a cold-hearted Big Sis,”
One grandmother muttered loudly.
“Abandoning her poor little brother like that.”
Elowen’s eye twitched so hard she thought it might fall out.
‘I am going to murder him. Slowly. With a spoon. Underwater. So he feels every second of it, and why the fuck are all of them acting like it’s from a fucking script!?
The shark guards were having the time of their lives. One of them was openly laughing as they dragged the two “criminals” toward the waiting custody turtle, a massive, enchanted sea turtle with reinforced shell cells on its back, used for transporting dangerous offenders. The turtle itself looked bored, chewing on a piece of glowing seaweed as if this was just another Tuesday.
“Get in.”
One guard said, shoving Elowen toward the turtle’s shell. The merman was shoved in right after her, still sobbing dramatically. As the shell door closed behind them, trapping them in the same custody cell, the merman immediately turned to her with a bright, innocent smile, all tears gone like they never existed.
“So… Big Sis… that went pretty well, right?”
Elowen stared at him for a long moment, then slowly reached out and grabbed him by the collar.
“You absolute menace.”
She growled, shaking him like a rag doll.
“What the hell was that? I was trying to live a quiet life! Gambling! Drinking! No drama! And you turn me into the star of some bad family drama play!”
The merman grinned shamelessly.
“Hey, what else was I supposed to do!? I saw a way out by catching onto some powerful thighs, and I tried, man…you folded after that more than I thought. And now we’re together in this nice, cosy custody turtle. Free ride to the station and everything. You’re wele.”
Elowen’s grip tightened.
“I am going to kill you. Slowly. Painfully. I will make sure your next life is as a plankton.”
The merman just laughed, pletely unbothered. The custody turtle started moving, its massive body gliding through the water currents as the city lights faded behind them. Inside the shell cell, Elowen sat in the corner with her arms crossed, glaring daggers at the merman who was happily humming a cheerful tune while picking at the mana-blocking cuffs like they were annoying jewellery.
“You know.”
The merman said casually.
“This is actually kind of nice. Free transport. No rent. Three meals a day. Maybe we can be cellmates forever. I’ll call you Big Sis; you can call me Little Bro. We’ll be the most famous criminal siblings in the ocean.”
Elowen buried her face in her hands.
‘This is my life now. This is what I get for trying to enjoy a peaceful second chance.’
Outside, the shark guards were laughing and chatting about how this was the most entertaining arrest they’d had in months. The crab boss was probably already counting his “victory” money.
Elowen let out a long, suffering sigh as the custody turtle carried them deeper into the city’s justice system.
Her peaceful life? Officially dead.
And somewhere in the back of her mind, she was already plotting exactly how she was going to make that merman pay for this. Slowly. Creatively. And with maximum annoyance.
The custody turtle suddenly hit a small current, jostling the cell. The merman fell over dramatically into Elowen’s lap, looking up at her with big, innocent eyes.
“Big Sis… I think I’m in love with our new life together.”
Elowen’s scream of frustration echoed through the entire turtle shell as the guards outside burst into laughter again. This was going to be a very, very long ride to the station.
And Elowen was already regretting every decision that led her to this point in her second life.
