“The baby just hatched fwom its egg, wight? So the fiwst person it sees becos its daddy.”
“So what I’m saying is, that’s just the writer being lazy and ignoring genetic logic.”
She figured it out just by his attitude and instincts. “Writer convenience” was a bad thing. Basically, it ant it was forced and didn’t make sense.
Guru’s eyebrows shot up.
“Den, den, da dinosaaw tawked too!”
“Exactly. That’s another reason it’s nonsense.”
Tssssk... She’d tried to join the debate bravely, but there was nothing to gain from it.
“Gwuu gonwe wead by hewsewf. You tawk too much.”
“Well, sure. I guess a baby could think soone’s their dad...”
Without further complaint, Jurim picked up where he left off reading.
The carnivorous dinosaur, flustered, took care of the baby who wanted to be just like him.
He saved the baby from a bad at-eating dinosaur, gave up at—his staple food—and ate the red berries the baby brought him ❖ Nоvеl𝚒ght ❖ (Exclusive on Nоvеl𝚒ght) instead. He taught the baby how to survive.
“There’s no more I can teach you. It’s ti for us to part ways.”
“Nooo, I wanna stay with you, Daddy!”
Not wanting to say goodbye, the carnivore suggested a race to the mountain.
When the baby dinosaur ran as fast as it could, not wanting to part, it found a couple of herbivore dinosaurs that looked just like it.
“Goodbye, Little Tasty. The Tyrannosaurus ate one red berry.”
The carnivorous dinosaur ate the berry and watched from afar as the baby was reunited with its real parents.

“......?”
Jurim’s mood took a steep dive.
“What the hell kind of ending is that?”
He flipped the page, but that really was the end.
“.......”
Wasn’t a fairy tale supposed to end with ‘and they lived happily ever after’ or sothing?
While Jurim frowned in confusion, Guru kept staring at the last page.
The baby herbivore returning to its real mom and dad.
“Guildjjjan-nim.”
“Yeah.”
“At Hyeonak... can you find peopow?”
“You wanna find soone?”
Guru hesitated. Jurim tried to guess who she might want to look for.
“Kim Garyeong?”
Jurim pictured the actor who played a Hunter on so kids’ show. He was known as the “kid president,” or sothing like that...
Well, in this house, he might as well have been the kid emperor. Lately, Guru’s been obsessed—buying photo cards, rch, the works.
If it was a celebrity, Jurim figured he could probably pull a few strings, make sothing happen. She’d love that, wouldn’t she? He was already imagining who he might have to guilt-trip into showing up in front of Guru.
“No, not him.”
“Then who?”
“I an...”
Guru’s eyes rolled slowly. Sohow, it was hard to say out loud.
Still, she mumbled carefully to Jurim, who was waiting silently.
“Gwuu’s mommy... and daddy.”
“.......”
“Can’t we?”
“.......”
Tok. Tok. Tok. His long fingers tapped the hardcover book, steady and tronomic.
After a mont of silence, Jurim opened his mouth.
“You’re really curious about your real mom and dad?”
“Yesh.”
It was a stupid question. Of course she was curious. Still, he had to ask. He didn’t even know what kind of answer he wanted to hear.
“They might not be like what you imagined.”
Guru blinked slowly, turning the words over.
Mom and dad from her imagination... who were they?
In her mind, her parents hadn’t even had human shapes. They were just this soft, idealized image of a happy, peaceful family.
“Dunno.”
“Dunno what?”
“I twied to imagine, but... it doesn’t wowk.”
“.......”
His own family was bound by blood. Because of that, he’d often wanted to cut them off entirely.
Even blood ties could create shitty relationships.
But what about this kid’s family?
He’d never wanted to know the whole sob story of why they abandoned her. That’s why he’d never tried to track them down.
And yet the child who’d been abandoned still dread of her parents’ embrace.
On the other hand, Jurim’s father—who had nothing but money—had already transferred two whole building deeds to Guru.
Said a kid needed a yard to run around in comfortably and sent Jurim photos of his houses, nagging him to pick one.
He liked Guru so damn much that at this rate, he was going to hand over the company too.
The girl who used to live in an orphanage now had too much.
She had awakened powers, adorable stubbornness, more money than she could spend, and people who doted on her like crazy.
If she ever went looking for her biological parents, whoever they were would probably be happy to take her in.
“You can’t. We’re not looking for soone without a known identity.”
At Jurim’s firm words, Guru puffed her cheeks and gave a small nod.
“Dat’s okay.”
“Co on now. It’s late.”
“Okaaaay.”
Guru slowly squird under the blankets. Jurim gently patted her little chest as she yawned.
If her birth parents ca and took her...
She’d be thrilled to have her mom and dad.
And Jurim? He’d be free of this constant ss, this troubleso kid always making waves.
He wouldn’t have to rush to finish work early, wouldn’t be scared shitless bumping into Guru in unexpected places, wouldn’t need to stay up researching parenting tips or argue in online mom forums...
But how could he know what kind of people her real parents were?
They could be awful people who only wanted what Guru had. They might hurt her in places he’d never see. They might be criminals. They might be in prison.
The kind of people who abandon a kid at an orphanage were probably exactly that kind of people.
Awful. Vile. The kind you shouldn’t ever try to find.
After Guru fell asleep, Jurim stared at the last page of the picture book.
The baby herbivore dinosaur returning to its real mom and dad.
He closed the book with a cold expression.
That lady... why the hell would she give her sothing like this?
His irritation, for no real reason, shifted squarely onto Harry’s mom.

Tears welled up beneath Woojoo’s long eyelashes.
You’re coming back... right?
The woman’s face, distorted by sorrow, turned around.
At the sa mont, a fat teardrop fell from Woojoo’s eye.
Large subtitles appeared at the bottom of the screen.
“Star-Crossed Family Living” — Premieres on NTV this November
👏👏👏👏!
Guru, sitting right in front of the TV, stood up and clapped.
“Woojoo jjang’s so coow! Gwuu’s cwyin’. Wanna see?”
Woojoo, sitting beside her on the couch, just shrugged.
“Eh, this is nothin’... Wait till the drama airs. I fild way better scenes than this. If that made you cwy, you’re gonna sob at the actuaw show.”
“Yupyup! Gwuu gonna watch! I pwomise!”

With a reaction like that... it’s gotta be, right?
The day Guru and Nayun visited the set...
Woojoo had ended up explaining their amusent park backstory in full to her manager.
And the manager had said—
“She hugs you? Keeps calling you cute? I think that kid’s into you.”
