The helicopter steadied, and once Su Mo stowed away the vehicle, she spotted a person waving to them from beneath a house.

"These people are clearly ordinary folks," Jianxiong scratched his head, sowhat perplexed.

"There must be other people in this town," Su Mo said, standing at the edge of the rooftop and looking down.

Most of the ground within the small town was intact, but in front of so houses, there were dozens of large pits, revealing sothing bizarre.

After observing for a while, Li Qian comnted, "It seems there really is sothing beneath the ground. These people haven’t stepped half a foot out of their houses; they just wave without shouting."

"Should we go over?" Su Mo turned her head to ask Lu Chen beside her.

The man narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing closely until a door crack opened.

A man in a short-sleeved shirt walked out, stood under the door fra, and beckoned to them.

It was a superpower user, who then pointed to the electric wires beside him as a signal for them to co over by air.

Walking on the electric wires at such a height?

A twitch flickered at the corner of Su Mo’s eye as she directly took out a dish of stir-fried venison from Space, "Eat up, we’ll just teleport over."

After sharing the food, they descended from the balcony to a supermarket below.

Half of the items on the shelves inside were still there, but between the two rows of shelves near the entrance, on the dirty tile floor, there was a pitch-black hole. Su Mo peeked in as far as her line of sight would allow and could only see human tissue hanging over so rocky protrusions around the edge.

It was dragged down by sothing.

Li Qian scanned continuously with his spiritual power and shook his head at his teammates, indicating he hadn’t detected anything unusual.

Exiting the supermarket, the distance to the house across was about ten ters.

Two teleports would be just enough.

The man standing by the door also stepped aside slightly, his face filled with amazent as he watched them all teleport over in unison.

He pointed inside, "Let’s talk indoors."

"So you can talk after all. I thought you couldn’t," Su Mo said, looking at him. She thought he and Li Qian had a similar look, gentle and soft, but as a man, his body was a bit too slender and delicate.

"The creature senses us by the tremors on the ground, talking is fine, those ordinary people across don’t quite understand that yet," the man replied, leading them into the house.

In the small living room, several layers of soft carpets were laid on the floor, and three n were seated on the sofa—all males.

"You must be from P City’s refugee camp!" The n quickly stood up, their voices filled with excitent.

Lu Chen nodded, "Yes."

"I heard the helicopter. We’re planning to leave this cursed place first thing tomorrow morning!" They spoke with excitent.

However, Lu Chen’s gaze was fixed on the slender man, "Healing Superpower?"

"Yes, I’m Li He. These are my teammates, and it was who had them broadcast those ssages," he said, extending his hand for a friendly handshake.

"Tell us about that monster," Lu Chen said, pressing down on the soft carpet with his foot and finding a chair to sit.

"It’s massive, with a shell like a huge tumor. Its head is just a giant mouth, with five eel-like tongues inside that can easily drag a person underground," Li He said as he took out all their food to host them and lit a candle on the table, brightening the darkened room.

"We were just driving through here when you arrived. You must have seen the only road out has collapsed because of it, so we’ve been trapped here without a way out."

Su Mo looked around the room, feeling like soone was missing, and inquired, "We’re not just here for you—do you have a geologist among you?"

"He’s upstairs," Li He nodded, "resting. I’ll call him."

He turned and headed upstairs. Li Qian leaned by the window, watching the family next door continually holding up signs with pleas for help. He didn’t pay attention and drew the curtains closed.

As they sat around the table, a man in casual clothes quickly followed Li He downstairs.

"Let’s eat and talk," Li He said, pulling out a chair to sit down and distributing the few remaining stale bread and canned goods on the table.

Su Mo declined their offerings and just glanced briefly at the two n before asking, "Is this all you have been eating?"

"We can’t get to the supermarket across. As soon as we touch the ground, we get attacked. These are our last supplies," Li He replied sowhat helplessly.

Su Mo nodded and glanced at the open kitchen, stood up, and went over to check; indeed, there was still a lot of coal gas in there.

She helped herself to so rice and at, saying, "Let cook sothing else. Don’t eat that; I see the bread has gone moldy."

In doing so, she also intended to win them over.

Trapped here for God knows how long, their eyes shone a few degrees brighter at the sight of the food.

Lu Chen tapped his fingers on the tabletop, drawing back their thoughts and said softly, "Explain the crevasse situation."

He spoke to the doctor, who first ran upstairs to bring down a stack of docunts and laid them on the table, then began to explain, "We have a research station in Vichi. I was staying there waiting for rescue, and so still-working equipnt recently relayed data that seed unusual in the Earth’s crust movent. At first, I thought it was due to mutant creatures, but later on, I realized it was the tectonic plate movent speeding up—abnormal behavior."

Li Qian sat back down and added, "We’ve already noticed the extensive surface cracking, but it’s just that, with no other developnts."

The doctor seed conflicted, flipping through several pages of the report, and said, "Most of my equipnt is damaged, it’s just a guess, but I think it might be because of global warming. Despite the reduced human destruction due to rampant mutant creatures and the evolution of new ecosystems, the problem still persists. I also suspect that the Earth might enter a second ice age."

"Before that, tornadoes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions—all these disasters will happen."

"Mutant creatures are just a part of the new ecosystem. When the harsh winter cos, if there isn’t a safe haven, all ordinary people who haven’t evolved will die."

Handling the ladle, Su Mo’s hand quivered, and she couldn’t help but turn around to say, "Last year, didn’t it snow already? Then too, the temperatures were historically low, but the survival rate was still high."

"Although I haven’t lived through that period, I can tell you confidently it’s not the sa," the doctor shook his head and couldn’t help but grab a bag of bread from the table and start eating, "It’s just speculation, but since there are signs, better be cautious."

Inside, the silence and oppression lingered.

Su Mo set down bowls of cooked at porridge, fried so beef with pickles, and placed them on the table.
