Aurora Sumrs couldn’t believe the man could be so heartless. Her eyes were red, and tears stread down her face again. "Mr. Xavier..."

"Are you really this cruel? Without this job, I’ll die!" she cried. "Aren’t you afraid of having a death on your conscience?"

Donovan Xavier chuckled coldly. "The door is behind you. Please go out and die." He was even polite enough to say please.

Tears stained Aurora’s face as she continued, "I’m not joking. I’ll really... I’ll really die." As she spoke, she pressed the glass shard in her hand against her neck. She made a light cut, and a trickle of blood seeped out.

Ouch, that hurts!

Aurora stamred, "S-See? If you don’t let stay at the company, the whole of Kryton will know that soone died here by tomorrow!"

Donovan remained silent, lazily leaning against the desk and nodding his chin toward the security guards.

The guards understood imdiately. They stepped forward and easily subdued the woman from behind, reaching out to take the glass shard from her hand and aiming it directly at her throat.

"What are you doing!" Aurora was instantly terrified, struggling desperately. "L-Let go!"

"You say you want to die," Donovan said, "but you’re just dawdling. I don’t have the patience to wait around, so I’ll have the security guards help you."

"Don’t worry. I’ll have them be decisive. One strike and you’ll be dead." He gave a sharp command. "Do it!"

The guards responded in unison. "Yes, sir!"

Aurora’s pupils contracted.

She didn’t really want to die! She hadn’t spent all her money yet. She hadn’t lived long enough!

Aurora struggled desperately, swallowing hard as she cried out in fear, "Mr. Xavier, I was wrong! I’ll never do it again!"

With that, she fell to her knees, clutching the leg of his suit trousers as she pleaded through her tears, "Mr. Xavier, I... I don’t want to die... Please, Mr. Xavier, I want to stay at the Xavier Group. Forgive just this once. I wasn’t in my right mind. I’ll never dare to do it again!"

She kowtowed as she spoke, staining the smooth floor with a patch of bright red blood from her forehead.

"You can forget about staying at the Xavier Group," Liam Keane said indifferently from the side. "Who knows what kind of stunt you’ll pull next?"

"I recruited you because I thought you were capable," he added. "You’ve really disappointed !"

Aurora sobbed, a broken and pitiful sight. She reached for Liam Keane’s leather shoe. "Assistant Keane, I’ll kowtow to you. Can you please help plead with Mr. Xavier?"

"I was really wrong. I won’t dare again."

She kept repeating the sa few phrases. Donovan was sick of hearing it and glanced impatiently at the security guards. "Get her out!"

Aurora struggled forcefully but was restrained with absolute strength by the security guards, unable to move an inch.

Donovan turned, took a few steps forward, and took Chloe Preston’s hand, rubbing it between his. "Why is your hand so cold? Were you scared just now?"

When he faced her, he was always so gentle and affectionate.

Chloe shook her head. "No."

Aurora saw this, her eyes turning crimson with rage.

The man she could never have... why could this woman have him? Why could *she* beco Mrs. Xavier while I’m just driven away in disgrace? It’s not fair! I’m just as good as her. Why doesn’t he like ?

Jealousy exploded in an instant!

Aurora clenched the glass shard in her hand, her teeth gritted. With a scream, she rushed forward, aiming to stab Chloe in the stomach!

She couldn’t stand seeing others happy! I’ll kill her!

Liam Keane’s reflexes were sharp. With a WHOOSH, he lunged forward to grab the object from her hand.

In the struggle, his hand was accidentally cut, and blood began to flow freely. Liam sucked in a sharp breath, wincing in pain.

Donovan Xavier’s pupils contracted. His first instinct was to pull Chloe behind him, shielding her.

She dared to harm Chloe!

Liam Keane frowned and glared at the security guards. "Are you all dead?!"

The security guards stepped forward, forcefully pinning the woman down. One of them slapped her hard across the face. "How dare you try to harm Mrs. Xavier!"

Aurora’s cheek stung with fiery pain. "L-Let go!"

Chloe staggered back a step, her heart still pounding with fear.

Donovan held her steady, stroking her hair as he asked nervously, "Are you all right? Are you hurt?"

Chloe touched her stomach and took a breath. "I’m fine."

Donovan stepped forward. His entire aura turned frigid and terrifying, radiating undisguised killing intent as he seized the woman’s slender neck with one hand. He squeezed with enough force to nearly snap it.

Aurora choked, nearly suffocating. "COUGH! COUGH!"

Donovan’s eyes were bloodshot, his voice as cold and sharp as a poisoned blade. "How dare you touch her?"

She was his bottom line. She was his life. No one could touch her!

Donovan’s grip tightened, the veins on his hand bulging as he spoke, enunciating each word. "I might have let you go, but now... I’m really going to kill you."

Aurora struggled, her face turning purple as she was deprived of air. "I... I..." She could no longer form words.

Rage filled Donovan’s eyes. He slamd her against the wall and squeezed harder, fully intending to strangle her to death right then and there.

Truly afraid he would kill soone, Chloe rushed forward and tugged on his arm. "Donovan, don’t."

"She dared to hurt you," Donovan said coldly, his grip unwavering. "I have to kill her!"

"I’m fine, really," Chloe pleaded. "Just make her disappear. Make her leave Kryton. I don’t want you to have blood on your hands."

Only then did Donovan release his grip, leaving a deep, red mark on the woman’s neck.

Aurora couldn’t stand, slumping to the ground and gasping for breath.

That was so close. I almost died!

Donovan lowered his eyes, glaring down at her. "If my wife hadn’t spoken up, I would have really strangled you."

With that, he lifted his gaze to the security guards. A chill radiated from him, so intense it felt like it could swallow them whole.

How terrifying.

The guards understood his unspoken aning. They swallowed nervously, a tremor running through them as they corrected themselves, "M-Mr. Xavier, rest assured. We’ll make sure she disappears without a trace. We won’t disappoint you."

"Hmph. Go," Donovan said, turning away. He casually dropped the command as he took Chloe’s hand and led her toward the sofa.

The security guards dragged the woman out.

Donovan sat on the sofa and glanced at Liam’s injured hand. "Good thing you were here. Go get that wound treated before it gets infected."

Liam paused, pursing his lips. "Since you put it that way, does this an you won’t dock my half-year’s salary?"

Donovan grunted. "Just make sure you have better judgnt when hiring in the future." He then added, "Are you still here?"

Liam took the hint and scurried out without another word, gently closing the door behind him.

Donovan raised a hand, his rough, warm fingertips gently stroking Chloe’s fair, beautiful face. "You scared ," he murmured. "If anything had happened to you, I would have gone insane..."

Chloe leaned into his arms, playing with his slender fingers. "I was the one who was scared to death. I was really afraid you were going to kill her."

"My Donovan should be clean, without a hint of blood."

Donovan quietly gazed at her without uttering a word. His embrace was warm and strong, making her feel incredibly safe.

Chloe looked up, her eyes lively and clear, just about to speak.

An unexpected kiss landed on her lips, sealing her soft, rosy mouth as he began to suckle gently.

"Mmm..."

"Donovan... mmm..."

He kissed her hard, his movents becoming more insistent until he parted her teeth. Chloe’s hands clutched at his suit.

The air in the room heated up again.

"Mmm... Donovan... that tickles..."

Donovan eased his kiss slightly, his dark eyes deep as he panted softly. "Be good," he rasped. "Call husband."

As he spoke, he loosened his tie with one hand, then shrugged off his suit jacket, letting it fall to the floor.

"Chloe, be a good girl. Let hear you say it. Call husband."
