Donovan Xavier glanced down. "I’m not hungry. I don’t want to drink."

Chloe Preston sat beside him. "It’s delicious. I spent a long ti simring it." She picked up the spoon, stirred the soup gently, and asked, "How about I feed you?"

Pressing his forehead against hers, Donovan Xavier whined like a child, "No."

"Just have a little, please?"

"No."

Chloe Preston pursed her lips, her patience wearing thin. "Then what is it you want?"

Donovan Xavier leaned in, his lips brushing against hers. "I want you."

A blush crept up Chloe’s cheeks. Donovan gave her a gentle peck on the lips before turning to kiss her ear. "Chloe, I’ve tried to hold back, but I want you. Right now." His voice was candid and fervent.

Chloe didn’t dare to et his gaze, stamring, "The... the soup is going to spill. Let go of ."

Donovan took the thermos from her, setting it aside. Then, he cupped the back of her head with one hand and brought his lips down on hers, leaving her breathless.

"Chloe, please let ?" he asked, patiently seeking her consent.

"Mmm..."

Chloe raised her fists and pounded on his chest in protest.

"Baby, I promise I’ll be gentle."

"Nghh..." Chloe struggled.

Donovan’s eyes reddened, and beads of sweat ford on his brow as he fought for control. "Chloe, why aren’t you saying anything? Do you still not want this?"

Chloe was panting, about to speak, when his mouth descended on hers again.

I give up, she thought in despair. He’s kissing so hard, sealing my lips completely. How am I supposed to talk? I can barely breathe! If this keeps up, he’ll be the death of !

Finally finding a gap to breathe, Chloe twisted her head away from his kiss and gasped, "Donovan Xavier, I know you’re impatient, but don’t rush! You... you need to calm down!"

Like an animal uncaged, Donovan pounced, laying her down on the sofa while being careful to avoid putting any pressure on her stomach. Chloe knew struggling was pointless, so she resigned herself to it.

Besides, I already asked the doctor. Doing it occasionally wouldn’t be a problem. I’ve seen how much he suffers holding back all the ti, so I might as well let him have his way today. I just pray he’ll keep his word and be gentle.

KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!

Suddenly, a series of sharp knocks ca from the door. The charged, intimate atmosphere shattered instantly.

Donovan ignored it, coaxing the woman in his arms. "Shh, baby, let’s continue."

"But..." Chloe began.

The knocking from outside persisted, and Liam Keane’s anxious voice cut through the door. "Mr. Xavier! Mr. Xavier!"

"Mr. Xavier, may I co in?"

It’s over if he cos in!

Donovan roared at the door, "Get out!"

"Mr. Xavier..." Liam persisted.

"Piss off!" Donovan bellowed. He then turned back to the woman beneath him, his voice softening. "Was I too loud? Did I scare you?"

After a few seconds of hesitation, Liam spoke again, his voice strained. "Mr... Mr. Xavier, I have no choice! Secretary Shaw is making a scene, threatening to kill herself if she can’t see you!"

Without a second thought, Donovan’s anger flared. "You useless thing! What good are you to ? Tell her to get lost!"

A few monts later, Aurora Sumrs’s voice, thick with sobs, seeped into the room.

"Mr. Xavier, I... I know I was wrong! Mr. Xavier, please don’t fire !"

"Mr. Xavier, please give another chance..."

"Mr. Xavier, I... I’ll never do it again, I truly know I was wrong!"

Listening to the commotion, Donovan grew increasingly annoyed. He pulled out his phone, intending to call security to drag her away.

Chloe placed a hand over his, stopping him. "Is that the woman who tried to seduce you?" she asked softly.

"Don’t worry," Donovan reassured her. "I’ll have soone get rid of her right now."

Chloe sat up, straightening her rumpled dress and hair. "I want to see this."

Donovan pulled her back down and kissed her forehead, his voice softening considerably. "Baby, don’t go. We have more important business to attend to." He paused, his voice turning husky. "I’m aching, Chloe."

As he spoke, he reached for his tie, tugging at it with growing impatience. Chloe’s heart began to race.

CLICK.

The door was suddenly thrown open.

A vein throbbed on Donovan’s temple. He clenched his fists and erupted in fury. "Liam Keane, who gave you permission to enter without my command?"

"Mr. Xavier, it wasn’t !" Liam said frantically. "It was... it was her! She forced her way in!"

Donovan got to his feet and strode forward. "Are you that useless? You can’t even handle one woman!"

Liam pointed at the woman. "Mr. Xavier, she threatened ! She said if I didn’t let her see you, she’d kill herself right in front of !"

Aurora Sumrs’s eyes were red and her hair was a ss. Clutching a shard of glass in her hand, she knelt before Donovan with a heavy THUD.

"Mr. Xavier..." she sobbed, completely broken, as tears stread down her face. "I was wrong, Mr. Xavier. I shouldn’t have had such improper thoughts. I shouldn’t have tried to seduce you. I was truly wrong! I need this job. I’m begging you, please don’t fire , okay?"

She knew with absolute certainty that if she was fired from Xavier Group, she would never find a better job. She absolutely could not be fired. She had to stay.

Still sobbing, Aurora Sumrs shuffled forward on her knees, crawling toward him until she could reach out a trembling hand to touch his expensive leather shoe.

"Mr. Xavier, I’ll never dare to do it again. Please, I’m begging you, just give one more chance!"

She was beautiful, and her tears made her look all the more fragile and pure—a sight that would evoke pity in most n. Anyone else might have pulled her up, held her close, and offered gentle words of comfort. But Donovan Xavier was ruthless and cold-hearted. To be precise, what little tenderness he possessed was reserved entirely for Chloe Preston.

He glared down at her, his dark eyes like a bottomless, icy abyss. "Don’t touch my shoes," he ordered, his voice laced with contempt. "It’s disgusting."

Intimidated by his frigid aura, Aurora shuddered and snatched her hand back. She remained kneeling, kowtowing repeatedly as she cried, "Mr. Xavier, I... I was really wrong. I’ll never do it again. Please forgive ! I... I’ll work diligently from now on. I won’t have any improper thoughts ever again!"

Liam watched with cold indifference. "A little late for regrets," he comnted flatly. How dare she even think of seducing Mr. Xavier? With his temperant, she was lucky to be alive.

Aurora remained on the floor, kowtowing again and again, the sound of her head hitting the floor growing louder each ti. Before long, her forehead split open, blood trickling down her face in a ghastly display.

Just then, security guards rushed in. "Mr. Xavier!" they announced respectfully.

Donovan showed no rcy. "Throw her out," he ordered coldly. "Throw her far away, and make sure she never sets foot in the Xavier Group building again."

"No, Mr. Xavier!" Aurora shrieked, her cries growing louder.

As the security guards moved to grab her, Aurora raised her hand and pressed the glass shard to her own throat. "Mr. Xavier, if you insist on throwing out, I’ll die right here in front of you!"

Hearing this, Donovan arched an eyebrow and glanced at Liam. "Is this how she threatened you?"

He then stepped forward, crouching down to et her gaze. A cold smile played on his lips. "What a pity. I don’t respond to threats. If you want to die, be quick about it." His entire being radiated a chilling aura, like a vengeful specter summoned from the depths of hell. "If that glass shard isn’t sharp enough, I can have soone get you a knife."

After a pause, Donovan added, "And rember, do it outside. I’d hate for your blood to stain my office floor."
