But Vera Xavier knew that if she offered to get him another room, given his personality, he might just decide to "deal with her" sooner rather than later.
So, with a heart full of trepidation, she led Nathaniel Nathan back to her room. When Aaron Cheney and Jack Judd saw the two of them enter the sa room, they exchanged winks, mischievous grins on their faces.
Nathaniel Nathan seed to sense it. He glanced back at the two of them as he turned. They chorused, "Good night, Young Master Nathan!"
Then, Aaron Cheney and Jack Judd scurried back to their own rooms and shut their doors with a loud THUD.
An icy expression ca over Nathaniel Nathan’s face as he watched them. He closed the door deliberately, then turned his head to look at Vera.
Vera Xavier bit her lip, steeled herself, and dove straight into his arms. "Nathaniel Nathan," she whimpered, "I missed you so much!"
She had only ant to appease him, but once she was actually in his arms, she realized she truly had missed him. Breathing in his unique scent, she felt an overwhelming sense of security.
And so, what was ant to be a quick, placating hug turned into a tight embrace she didn’t want to let go of.
Nathaniel Nathan glanced down at Vera Xavier, who was snuggling coquettishly against his chest. Whatever dissatisfaction he’d felt vanished without a trace.
Still, he felt that if he let her off the hook so easily this ti, she’d be walking all over him in the future.
So, even though every fiber of his being wanted to throw her onto the bed right then and there, he forced himself to hold back. He didn’t even hug her back, instead saying in a cold voice, "Vera Xavier, do you really think a little stunt like this will make forget that you ran off on your own and got tangled up with Alistair Forrest?"
His voice was cold, but because there was no real anger in his heart, the words lacked so of their intended bite.
Vera Xavier: "..."
’Young Master Nathan, must you call out on it?’
She peeked up at him from his embrace and saw that he was looking down at her. His expression was stern, but there wasn’t much iciness in his eyes.
She decided to continue placating him. "I swear, nothing happened between and Alistair Forrest. I already have you. A flirtatious fox of a man like him could never catch my eye. In my eyes, he’s a thousand, no, ten thousand tis worse than you!"
Nathaniel Nathan said coldly, "Did you show him my picture when you first t?"
"Huh?" Vera Xavier didn’t know what he was talking about for a second.
A flicker of displeasure appeared in Nathaniel Nathan’s eyes. "It seems you didn’t take my words to heart. That’s a minor derit for you!"
Vera Xavier pouted. ’Is he treating like one of his subordinates? Giving out derits!’
But then she finally rembered him giving her his photo back when she was taking her college entrance exams. She was speechless. ’I can’t just whip out his picture every ti I et a new guy and announce, "This is my boyfriend," can I?’
So, she cleared her throat and said, "I always carry your picture with ."
"Not good enough," Nathaniel Nathan said, glancing at her. "I think I should have a piece of clothing custom-made for you, with a line embroidered on the chest that says, ’Nathaniel Nathan’s wife.’"
Vera Xavier: "..."
Nathaniel Nathan added, "What’s with that look? You’re not still thinking of flirting with other n, are you?"
Vera Xavier thought, ’Nathaniel Nathan might as well be called Mr. Jealousy. Why is this man so hard to please!’
She decided to pull out the big guns. She took a deep breath, pushed Nathaniel Nathan onto the bed, and pinned him down. Stroking his face, she said, "Nathaniel, you’re so handso. What am I going to do? I just want to eat you up."
