When Ye Wanwan woke up, it was already past nine o’clock. There were dozens of unread ssages in the group chat, but she didn’t look at them and went to check on Zhouzhou first.

Zhouzhou was awake at that mont, and the maternity matron was amusing him with a rattle-drum. He was trying to grab the rattle-drum with his hands and feet raised.

But each ti he reached out, the maternity matron would lift her hand, preventing Zhouzhou from catching it.

Ye Wanwan stood at the door watching, and after several iterations, Zhouzhou didn’t want to reach for it anymore.

Even when the maternity matron placed the rattle-drum within easy reach, Zhouzhou was no longer willing to raise his hand to grab it.

The maternity matron found it sowhat amusing, and was about to put the rattle-drum away when she turned around and saw Ye Wanwan standing at the door. She quickly called out, "Madam."

"Mm." Ye Wanwan smiled and walked in. "I’ll play with him for a while; you’ve worked hard."

"It’s what I should do." The maternity matron was very embarrassed. Actually, her job here was quite relaxed; sotis she even felt she was being paid too much.

The two novice parents did nearly everything by themselves whenever they could and rarely left her alone with the baby. In fact, that was pretty good.

Though she was a maternity matron and taking care of babies was her responsibility, when parents do not get involved at all, the baby tends to not be close to them in the future!

At her previous jobs, the baby’s parents wouldn’t care for their child, doing nothing as if the baby were hers.

When she kindly reminded them, they even thought she was complaining on purpose, trying to get a raise.

Zhouzhou seed to sense the familiar presence and turned his head toward Ye Wanwan.

"Zhouzhou!" Ye Wanwan called out to him as she leaned beside the crib.

Zhouzhou once again reached out to Ye Wanwan, appearing to want to be picked up.

"Zhouzhou!" Ye Wanwan didn’t pick him up but just called him again.

Ye Wanwan still rembered the saying she had heard from the maternity matron a few days ago, "roll at three months, sit at six, crawl at seven, tumble at eight, and walk at the year."

Although Zhouzhou was only a little over two months old, he still needed to be guided to stretch his limbs.

So Ye Wanwan was deliberately teasing Zhouzhou, who was awkwardly leaning in one direction, using both his hands and feet as if it was quite the struggle.

He had raised his hands for quite a while, but Ye Wanwan still didn’t pick him up. Although he didn’t understand why his mother wasn’t holding him, he didn’t cry or make a fuss.

Eventually, Zhouzhou lost his patience and simply lay back down flat.

Ye Wanwan found it funny; Zhouzhou’s temperant was neither like hers nor Shen Yi’s!

Ye Wanwan reflected on her past life; she never really took Zhouzhou to heart back then, never properly cared for him or took part in his growth.

Now trying to recall, naturally, she couldn’t rember anything.

In her mory, it seed like Zhouzhou had suddenly grown into a big kid.

And as he grew up, Zhouzhou beca taciturn, not endearing to her at all.

Thinking of these things naturally didn’t put her in a good mood. Ye Wanwan took a deep breath, brought herself back to reality, and stopped thinking about the past.

Ye Wanwan smiled at Zhouzhou again and then picked him up. "Let mommy hug our little friend Zhouzhou!"

After playing for about ten minutes, a servant ca to remind Ye Wanwan that it was ti to go downstairs for breakfast.

Ever since Shen Yi started going to the company for work, the first thing Ye Wanwan did every morning after waking up was to visit Zhouzhou’s room, sotis even forgetting the need to have breakfast.
