Huria approached Skyla’s bed with a wounded heart. She was very suspicious of the way Skyla was found by the couple. Where was her phone or any other belongings? And what was she doing in that part of the city?
Skyla’s eyes were closed as Huria drew near and inspected her injuries. Her stomach clenched in agony seeing her friend like that. So she lightly touched her arm and softly called out.
"Sky!"
Skyla’s eyes slowly opened as they focused on her friend and a small whimper escaped her. All that bold facade she was trying to maintain shattered, her ruby lips wobbled so badly and she began to bawl.
"Oh! Sky, I am here," she carefully hugged her to avoid her injured body, consoling her extrely disturbed friend. Skyla clutched her shirt hard as if her life depended upon it.
She was broken today, so very broken. She thought she was strong but one could only take this much.
Huria rubbed her arm and held her close, settling beside Skyla she wrapped her arms protectively around her and asked.
"Tell everything that happened," she asked with clenched teeth, whoever did this was going to feel her wrath.
Skyla did without omitting any details, she was tired of hiding the truth and she needed soone to confide in. Doran was hell-bent on destroying Zyair and would stoop to any level to achieve his goals.
Huria was stunned beyond belief. Just when she thought that man couldn’t fall any lower he proved her wrong.
"That serpent belongs in the deepest part of hell. I am going to destroy him Skyla," Huria bellowed, her hands fisted so tightly that her nails dug into her skin.
"I can’t let him hurt Mr Zyair, I can’t let him bury my father’s company in the ground. He threatened to do both if I opened my mouth and revealed this to anyone," Skyla lanted in a grief-stricken voice. The tears wouldn’t cease flowing from her eyes.
Her husband had openly violated her and left her in a secluded place at night. He was supposed to be her protector and not her torntor.
"You need to tell Mr. Zyair, you can’t keep doing this. He will help you, Skyla. This is insane." Huria wiped her tears. For the past few months, she had observed how Zyair stared at Skyla. She was not a fool, the man held this sweet tender look in his eyes, which only descended when he peeked at her.
The way he spoke with her, his tone always gentle. The way he increased her salary every month with so excuse. It only showed Huria that he cared deeply for Skyla.
"I can’t, Huria. Not until I have sothing worthwhile in my hands. I will die before I let him destroy my father’s company." Skyla had stopped crying and that stubborn determination she carried had begun to resurface.
"Promise , you won’t say anything. Promise," Skyla requested her friend who unwillingly nodded. But in her mind, she had reached a decision she was going to liberate her friend. This abusive life needed to end.
"That couple I told them to stay put because I thought they might have done sothing to you. I guess I will let them go."
Huria finally spoke rembering them but she needed an excuse to get out of the room to take a breather and think straight. Skyla gave her consent.
She stepped out for a while to thank the couple who had actually rescued Skyla or who knew what kind of hands she might have fallen into.
They inquired about Skyla and Huria told them she was resting and not in danger.
The couple left soon after but Huria couldn’t even breathe, her mind replaying Skyla’s words again and again.
What kind of monster would leave his wife like that? He was getting bolder, his abuse was no longer hidden behind closed doors. Wasn’t it always about his reputation? Then how did he get so sloppy? Every step with Doran was ticulous. There was so big ga he was playing.
As if to answer her question, her phone rang and she plucked it out of her bag.
It was Zyair.
She deeply sighed and wondered why he was calling her in the middle of the night. Did he suspect sothing?
She picked it up and his deeply disturbed voice reached her.
"Miss Skyla has been kidnapped, Doran just called . She never made it inside her ho when she returned from the office."
If Huria was angry before, she was raging now.
"What are you saying Mr Zyair?" she asked, trying to not lose her sanity, she was very much on the border.
"Doran is doing a press conference now. It’s live. Can you turn on the local news channel and then we’ll talk? I will stay on the line."
Zyair was trying to keep his voice calm but the effort it was taking him was unfathomable. He could break any ti and if anything happened to that girl, he wasn’t sure how he would react. There was one person he would particularly murder, without remorse.
Huria rushed to the nearby waiting room where there was a TV, she asked the desk nurse for the remote and shuffled through the channels until she found Doran. Her eyebrows knit together in hatred that soared through her.
He was talking to a bunch of reporters and two police officers stood with him.
"I ca ho early and when I arrived Skyla’s bag and mobile phone were lying just outside our main gate. We don’t have a security guard, we never needed one so I am guessing when she got ho soone was waiting for her. They must have used a van or car and kidnapped my wife. I called her boss and she had left the office soti in the evening. Please, help find her. It’s the middle of the night."
He had a teary face and his voice slightly quivered as if he cared deeply for his wife. All act to gain sympathy, all lies to cover up what he had done.
’That pathetic asshole, that spawn of hell,’ Huria cursed inside her brain knowing too well that Zyair was on the line.
Doran’s lies continued but Huria had heard enough so she steadied her voice and spoke.
"Mr. Zyair, co to Curity Hospital. Skyla is here and I am with her. Don’t tell anyone, especially her husband."
Huria ended the call after that, she knew she had dropped a bomb on Zyair and now she had to weigh out her words very carefully.
