"Yes," she ekly answered, her eyes wavering to Zyair and before he could stop himself he blurted out.
"Your userna?"
The sudden interest had Lawrence smugly smiling.
"Umm, EraldSky. It’s so cliché," she said in an apologetic tone and Zyair had to slightly shake his head.
She needed to stop being embarrassed by her choices. Years of judgnt had shattered all her confidence and for this reason, he hated that asshole who was her husband.
"It’s not, it’s very unique," ’Just like you,’ he wanted to add but refrained.
"Miss Skyla, kindly check his Instagram, I will forward you the link. See how much traffic he gets and if he makes a little effort his viewership can double," Lawrence countered clicking open Zyair’s Insta
"About that. I already follow Mr Zyair because of those ani cosplays..." she trailed, suddenly feeling very hot because of Zyair’s tender and yet curious gaze.
"Perfect, perfect, so you have seen the efforts I have been putting into his account. If only he would post so shirtless selfies every now and then, you can imagine how his numbers will skyrocket," Lawrence added as casually as possible, earning himself an angry grunt from Zyair. His eyes wavered to Lawrence, warning him.
Skyla’s ears burnt from the heat of embarrassnt that also travelled to her cheeks and turned them into cherries. Not having the guts to glance in her boss’s direction. She didn’t want to entertain the idea of picturing her boss like that.
"I am not posting half-naked photos just for the world to ogle," Zyair sternly added and Lawrence couldn’t help but be disappointed and turn to Skyla for help. He prompted her with his eye gestures to talk to Zyair. For the love of anything she couldn’t bring herself to look at him so she stared into her lap and humbly let out.
"I don’t think Mr. Zyair is comfortable with that. No one should be pushed to do sothing they are not comfortable with."
Skyla had no clue of the reasons Zyair held to be like this but she understood he was not at all an open person and respected his privacy a lot.
"This discussion is over. I don’t want to hear of it again," Zyair said with a stern finality, the razor-sharp edge to it was not directed towards Skyla but Lawrence and it still affected her. She had never seen him use such a tone before.
"Yes! Sir," Lawrence quickly added and let the topic go, returning to his tablet for work.
Skyla stole a small glance at Zyair, his bent arm had the muscles straining against his crisp white shirt. His masked face rested on his knuckles as he stared outside. The mask he wore today was white and a bit thin and the light showed her how carven and edgy his jaw was. Tightened due to his clenched teeth as a nerve seed to be pulsating in his temple.
His mood seed to have been soured and Skyla wanted to make it better, it saddened her that sothing had hurt him deeply. Was it sothing from his past? Or there could be bruises on his body he didn’t want anyone to see. So many miscellaneous thoughts rampaged through her brain.
"I have to use the restroom," Lawrence inford and hurried off, leaving them alone. The silence in the confined space was not comfortable.
"Sir!" She quietly called out to him and he turned to face her. There were these layers of vulnerability and defencelessness in his eyes, the ones he had never shown anyone before. It settled a profound uneasiness in Skyla’s heart. She hated seeing this look on him.
"Are you alright?" Deep concern, her concern for him was apparent in her soft voice and his heart lted.
He silently watched her for a few seconds. That was his forte to be patient.
"Yes!" He finally spoke, the edginess had disappeared from his deep voice.
"Can I show you sothing?" She was trying to bring him out of whatever depressing thoughts he had gotten himself stuck.
"Always!"
She composedly smiled at his answer and took out her phone, looking for an old digital drawing she had done of Kakashi. He curiously watched her scrolling through her phone until she fished it out and forwarded it to him.
"Please, check your phone," she asked.
Zyair frisked out his phone from his pocket and went directly to ssages.
He had broken that barrier of texting each other yesterday and now she had taken a step further by sharing her art with him.
He clicked open ssages and her na sat right on top. Zyair had this little anticipation building inside when he saw what she had sent him. It was a digital drawing of Kakashi but what startled him was the background. It looked like the Golden Room.
"I was in a very dark place when I drew him. He is like a beacon of hope for , the one who has pulled out from gloominess, uncountable tis," she explained, leaving Zyair speechless.
He could only stare in improbable silence. Two nights ago she had called him Calix and now this drawing, Zyair wasn’t sure how long he could go on like this because he understood what she was trying to say. He was still lost in the illustration when she spoke again.
"I don’t know anything about your life or the trauma you might have but believe when I say that I understand. There are aspects one can never speak about or erase from their past. But we should always keep the hope alive that life does take a turn for the better."
She graciously smiled at her boss and he couldn’t help but return it, his eyes speaking volus to her.
"Thank you, Miss Skyla, for your kindness and for showing this beautiful piece of art to . I will rember your words. If you don’t mind, can I keep it?"
"Of course, Sir. You have been very kind to , I just returned so of the kindness. Just like you said, I am also a good listener if the need ever arises."
Her gentle tone soothed his raging heart today. A few of the dark tentacles surrounding it withered away and died forever. She was slowly but steadily creeping her way into his beating organ and he was afraid of the day when she would completely occupy it.
Lawrence stayed behind the divider of the jet and listened to so of the conversation. A knowing smile rested on his face.
