Chapter 72: 072: First Kiss, Here Goes (Second Update)

“Why is it so cold?” Shouldn’t you have a fever?

Zhou Xufang blinked her eyes, blinked again, and staggered backward.

She buried her head, staring at the rabbit head on her shoe, “My fever has already subsided.”

Outside, the heavy snow fluttered down, the hexagonal snowflakes landing on his hair, “Have you been to the hospital?”

Zhou Xufang shook her head, “I’ve taken dicine.”

The wind was strong, blowing against his tender neck, quickly turning it red. He looked away, coughed twice, leaned on the door to catch his breath, and said, “I’ll take you to the hospital.”

...

Zhou Xufang refused to go.

Jiang Zhi furrowed his brows in anger, calling her by her full na, “Zhou Xufang,” he wanted to scold her for not taking care of herself, but he still couldn’t bear to be harsh on her. The words lightened on his lips, and after much strain, he managed to choke out two awkward words, “Be good.”

Be good.

It was the first ti Zhou Xufang heard such pleasant words, like the curly-haired old lady next door cooing at her newborn grandson, incredibly gentle, incredibly loving.

She exhaled a breath of warm air, feeling as if her recently lowered body temperature was making a coback, a bit warm. She gathered her hair scattered around her neck and pulled it back, saying, “I don’t need to go to the hospital. I’m very healthy, completely recovered.”

Disobedient again.

Unable to scold or beat her, Jiang Zhi found himself at a loss, “Fine, we won’t go to the hospital.”

Then he’d have to stay by her side.

He brushed the snow off his shoulder, coughed a few tis, “Aren’t you going to invite in?”

Zhou Xufang blocked the doorway and didn’t move aside, her nails subconsciously scratching the door, too hard, leaving behind marks. She frowned in thought, then showed a troubled expression, “I’m sorry, my ho can’t entertain guests.”

He was rejected.

He! Was! Actually! Rejected!

Jiang Zhi licked his lips, silent for a long ti, then grabbed her wrist, “Then co with .”

She refused him again, “I can’t.”

And then, she remained immovable.

Jiang Zhi exerted force, damn it… he couldn’t budge her!

He was about to explode with anger! Still gripping her wrist, refusing to let go, pulling with all his might.

Zhou Xufang gently withdrew her hand, really, it was gentle.

Jiang Zhi stumbled from her pull, his shoulder banging against the door.

Zhou Xufang imdiately apologized, “I’m sorry, did I hurt you?”

Jiang Zhi: “…”

He turned his head away, not wanting to say a word, or he’d end up being a fool.

He seed mad.

Zhou Xufang felt very guilty.

“Ah Wan, could you please excuse us.” She looked at Jiang Zhi, “I have sothing to tell you.”

Jiang Zhi glanced at Ah Wan, and dismissed him, “Go wait in the car. Don’t co out unless I call you.”

Ah Wan: “…”

He found his employer obnoxious, as annoying as the petted and arrogant Shuangxi rooster at ho. Recently, Shuangxi had been Ms. Song’s favorite, becoming too good for rice and eating only at.

Zhou Xufang led Jiang Zhi to the community square, at the far end there were two swings. She walked over and brushed the snow off one swing with her sleeve.

She said to Jiang Zhi, “You sit here.”

Jiang Zhi didn’t sit, walked over, directly lifted her up, and placed her on the swing, then blushed and crouched in front of her, “I’ll just squat here.”

He was only mad at her for a few dozen seconds.

He couldn’t stay mad anymore.

She had only slipped on a pair of slippers to co down, and he, worried that she would be cold, took the scarf from around his neck and wrapped it around her ankles.

Zhou Xufang sat on the swing, swinging back and forth, her thoughts seemingly adrift.

This wasn’t the first ti Jiang Zhi had held her.

She had taken a long ti to snap back to reality, and she didn’t know what was wrong with her. All her usual defenses, her instinctive reflex to guard herself, had disappeared in Jiang Zhi’s presence. She would never have allowed herself to be this close to soone else, let alone let soone touch her body.

Jiang Zhi was different, he wasn’t like anyone else.

“At the film studio,” without much thought, she blurted out, “when you kissed my hand, did you do it on purpose?”

Jiang Zhi squatted beside her swing, looking up at her.

“I did it on purpose.”

“Then why did you kiss ?”

She had no parents or relatives, and not many friends. Before becoming a professional errand runner, she barely left the house, staying in a dark space cut off from the outside world. No one had taught her how to interact with boys or how to conduct herself in society. However, she had watched television and seen all of Jiang Zhi’s movies. She knew that boys shouldn’t casually kiss girls, not even on the hand.

Jiang Zhi, holding onto the swing’s rope, gently rocked it, his peach blossom eyes reflecting her swinging shadow: “You’re asking why I kissed you?”

He swallowed nervously.

“Is it because,” Zhou Xufang planted her feet to stop the swing, and looked firmly at Jiang Zhi, “is it because you want to bear you a child?”

“…”

Jiang Zhi was taken aback. He had only thought of convincing her to co over, and she was already thinking about having children. His mind involuntarily raced with the thought—having children, if with her, wouldn’t be so bad…

Zhou Xufang interrupted Jiang Zhi’s whimsical thoughts: “I’m sorry, Jiang Zhi, I can’t continue your family line. If your family truly doesn’t approve of you marrying a boy, you should—just—”

Jiang Zhi’s rising smile quickly fell: “I should do what?”

She wanted to say, you should find soone else to continue the family line.

But for so reason, she couldn’t bring herself to say it.

However, it seed Jiang Zhi understood; this girl with an IQ of over 130 was incredibly obtuse, so slow to catch on that he couldn’t afford to take it step by step any longer.

All this taking it slow like a boiling frog was nonsense; he couldn’t wait any longer.

He grabbed the rope of the swing and gave a strong pull, dragging her right in front of him. His ears flushed red with a mix of shyness and boldness, like a fairy just descended into the mortal world, naively flirting: “You think I kissed you just to find a woman to continue the Jiang family’s bloodline?”

Wasn’t it?

Zhou Xufang didn’t really understand n’s thoughts.

The shadows in Jiang Zhi’s gaze sunk and floated: “Zhou Xufang.”

Zhou Xufang stayed still, feeling like he might be angry.

“I’ve told you already, I’m not gay anymore.”

He looked up, snowflakes on his eyelashes, the world clad in silver, but a hint of pink blood at the corners of his eyes, his beautiful pupils reflecting her image.

Her beauty was paired with the gentle breeze, a face as lovely as peach blossoms.

Jiang Zhi was the most handso person Zhou Xufang had ever seen.

As he gazed at her intently, her mind turned to mush, muddled, and she struggled to keep up, hardly knowing what she was saying: “If you’re not gay, then why do you want to continue your bloodline?”

Jiang Zhi inhaled a gust of cold air, which made him cough so hard he nearly spat out blood, and blurted out without thinking: “Who said I want you to continue my bloodline, I’m infertile! Continue what goddamn bloodline!”

Zhou Xufang, frozen like an ice sculpture: “…”

Jiang Zhi, unable to continue the family line due to infertility: “…”

He was stunned; what had he just said?

The air beca dreadfully still…

After a long pause, Zhou Xufang stuttered out: “You, you, you’re infertile.” She fiddled with her fingers, “Sorry, I didn’t an to poke at your wound, I—”

Her left hand was grabbed.

Jiang Zhi pulled hard, leaned in close, and sealed her incessantly babbling mouth with his.
