Chapter 266: 266: Xu Fang Recognizes His Uncle (Part 1)

Zhou Xufang snatched the vase and smashed it right over Luo Huaiyu’s head.

His vision blurred as he fell to the ground, blood instantly streaming from his head to his neck, fear filling his eyes as he looked at Zhou Xufang, “You, you—”

Zhou Xufang threw the vase away, shattering it into pieces, “If you don’t crawl out now, I won’t be able to stop myself from killing you.”

She wasn’t joking; she never joked.

Luo Huaiyu, terrified to the extre, pressed his hand against his head, felt the blood, and started crawling out frantically, rolling and stumbling like a wriggling worm, completely undignified.

Zhou Xufang ignored him and crouched down to look at Zhou Qingrang, “Mr. Zhou.”

Zhou Qingrang, a broadcaster by profession, had a keen sensitivity to sound.

The room was filled with thick smoke, stinging his eyes, he reached out, and in the thick white smoke, he touched a hand, “Is that you, Zhou Xufang?”

Zhou Xufang nodded, her voice unconsciously choked up, “Mr. Zhou, could you tell where your hotown is?”

“Xiangnan,” he said, “Xufang Town.”

Xufang Town in Xiangnan, a place with flowers and bridges, looked beautiful in the pictures Zhou Xufang had checked.

She gripped Zhou Qingrang’s hand.

Perhaps due to years of pushing a wheelchair or using a crutch, his palm had thin calluses.

“My na is Zhou Xufang,” he knew her na but not how to write it; Zhou Xufang told him again, “It’s Xufang from Xufang Town.”

Under the enveloping white smoke, a pair of clear, handso eyes slightly reddened, “Is it Luo San?” His voice trembled a bit from uncertainty and exhilaration.

“It’s ,” her voice nasal, she quietly called out, “Uncle.”

Zhou Qingrang smiled at her, tears in his eyes.

His hand, pale and thin, felt cool against her face as he removed her mask and looked at her face through the hazy smoke, scrutinizing carefully.

He said, “You don’t look like your mom, you resemble your grandmother.”

Zhou Xufang wiped away a tear, turned around, “I’ll carry you out.”

“I’ll do it.”

It was Jiang Zhi.

He too had entered the burning building, crouched down, and said to Zhou Xufang, “You go first, don’t let people see you. I’ve called an ambulance; go wait at the hospital.”

Her identity was special, and getting involved with the police could complicate matters.

Zhou Xufang didn’t move; she looked at Zhou Qingrang.

“Go first.”

Zhou Xufang listened to her uncle, “Okay.”

Jiang Zhi, “…”, she had just recognized her uncle and now wasn’t listening to her boyfriend.

Zhou Xufang left through the rooftop.

Jiang Zhi carried Zhou Qingrang out, with a good reason to give—he had received a call to co and rescue. The ambulance arrived quickly; the hospital wasn’t far, and within forty minutes, he t Zhou Xufang there.

Zhou Qingrang had inhaled too much smoke, undergoing a laryngoscopy in the ergency room.

It was already late, and Jiang Zhi didn’t want Zhou Xufang waiting outside the ergency room: “I’ll have Vice President Sun clear a room for you. Go rest, and I’ll stay here.”

She shook her head, unwilling to leave.

“Just now, why did you go in too? It was so dangerous.”

Jiang Zhi held her hand, squeezing her little finger, “You thought of at last?” Little ungrateful one, forgot her boyfriend because of her uncle!

“I went in looking for you, knowing you wouldn’t just head ho.”

Back at the attic rooftop, he had asked her to go ho. She had turned around, and in the blink of an eye, she vanished. He wasn’t a good person; he hadn’t gone into the fire to rescue others but to find Zhou Xufang.

“Good thing I went back.” Zhou Xufang was relieved, or her uncle would have been in danger.

Jiang Zhi wasn’t surprised at all, “I knew you’d co back.” He knew her well; “Even if you were impulsive, you wouldn’t really commit arson and murder.”

Of course, it wouldn’t matter if she didn’t co back; he had already thought of all her possible exits.

At nine thirty PM.

Lu Sheng was at ho when his secretary called.

“Miss Two.”

She was sitting at the dining table, having a late-night snack, “What is it?”

The secretary said, “I’ve just received news that a big fire broke out at the Luo Family.”

Is that so? Lu Sheng felt good, “Heaven has eyes.” She took a sip of bird’s nest, “Did those disasters from the Luo Family get burned?”

Secretary, “No.”

Lu Sheng corrected herself, “Heaven is blind.”

The secretary added, “Mr. Zhou was also at the Luo Family.”

Duang!

The spoon fell into the bowl.

“Who did you say?”

Secretary, “Mr. Zhou Qingrang.”

Lu Sheng abruptly stood up, knocking her knee against the table, hissing in pain, as she winced.

Her mother Yao Bixi was watching TV in the living room, her eyes covered with two eye masks. Hearing the noise, she asked, “What are you doing, crashing around like that? Did you hurt yourself?”

Yao Bixi was slightly overweight, with fair skin and a kind face, making her appear quite young.

“I’m fine.” She hadn’t hung up the phone yet and hadn’t changed her clothes. She grabbed a coat and hurried outside. “I’m stepping out for a bit.”

Yao Bixi followed her with a question. “It’s so late, where are you going?”

Lu Sheng brushed her off with, “On official business.” She rushed out in a hurry.

Yao Bixi muttered discontentedly and lifted her eye masks. “It’s not that you’ve started dating, is it?”

Her husband, Lu Jingsong, was sitting nearby. Upon hearing this, his expression hardened.

“Shengsheng is over twenty now,” Mrs. Lu had just co downstairs, dressed like a typical elderly woman with floral cardigans and wide pants, wearing reading glasses, “it’s ti for her to date.”

Lu Jingsong disagreed, “Just over twenty, how can she be dating? Today’s boys are so cunning, all they do is deceive young girls. What if our Shengsheng gets her feelings hurt—”

His wife chuckled from the side, “Don’t you know your own daughter’s weight? Who could deceive her? It would be sothing if she doesn’t deceive soone else.”

Lu Jingsong, a robust and tall figure in the military, who could send tremors with a stomp, was a man of integrity and seriousness, a highly influential figure.

—But he was afraid of his wife and also, he doted on his daughter.

Lu Jingsong turned his head. “Xinglan, is your sister dating soone?”

Lu Xinglan was lying on the dining table, half-way through her bird’s nest soup.

Yao Bixi applied another face mask, “Xinglan is asleep, don’t disturb him.”

Lu Jingsong: “…”

He felt his lack of authority in the family.

Around ten o’clock, Lu Sheng arrived at the hospital.

She was in such a hurry that she was still wearing her ho sweatshirt and without makeup, looking fresh-faced and like a girl-next-door, except that when she spoke, it was with the commanding presence of a CEO. “Can you check for , which room is Zhou Qingrang in?”

The nurse at the hospital ward lifted her head, “In the VIP ward.” She knew without checking; Zhou Qingrang was a public figure.

Lu Sheng was anxious, “What’s the room number?”

The nurse, being new and still unfamiliar with procedures, and because Zhou Qingrang was a public figure, needed to be cautious, “I’m sorry miss, I can’t disclose VIP patient information to anyone outside of family without permission.”

Lu Sheng, unflinchingly, “I am family.” She had been battling in the business world for years and had a formidable presence, she added for clarification, “I’m his girlfriend.”

Mr. Zhou is single!

Does she not watch the news at all? Who is she fooling?

The nurse remained composed, “Could you provide proof?”

“How so?”

“Like a photo.”

Lu Sheng, slightly frustrated, still pulled out her phone, opened the gallery, “This okay?”

She actually had a photo together.

The nurse looked, “This picture…” her lips twitched, “you edited this, right?”

Lu Sheng: “…”

Yes, it was photoshopped.

She had downloaded the picture from a computer, a photo of Zhou Qingrang with a female anchor, couldn’t resist, and edited the female anchor out and photoshopped herself in.

Was there a problem with that?

The nurse suddenly stretched her neck and yelled, “Miss Zhou, there’s soone here with a photoshopped picture, trying to sneak into Mr. Zhou’s room.”

Lu Sheng: “…”

President Lu really doesn’t care about face, huh!

Zhou Xufang approached without a mask, polite, “Hello.”

Lu Sheng, a bit embarrassed, “Hello.”

She had t Zhou Xufang before and at that ti, had claid to be Zhou Qingrang’s girlfriend.

Zhou Xufang was straightforward, “Are you my uncle’s girlfriend?”

Lu Sheng was shocked, “Zhou Qingrang is your uncle?”

She nodded.

Lu Sheng was even more embarrassed, her domineering CEO aura all but gone, awkwardly, “Not girlfriend, just friends.”

The nurse chid in, “I told you it was a photoshopped picture.”

Can you shut up!

“He’s not awake yet,” Zhou Xufang asked, “do you want to see him now?”

Lu Sheng nodded eagerly.

Zhou Xufang led the way, “I’ll take you there.”

Lu Sheng followed.

As the two ca out of the third floor elevator, they saw Jiang Zhi hurrying over, “Where did you run off to?” he addressed Zhou Xufang, “The mont you’re out of sight, you start wandering.”

Such a shrewish tone.

Lu Sheng doubted this was the Jiang Zhi she knew.
