He Aiguo went back to rest.

Jiang Xiaoxiao glanced at Song Moting.

She looked at the thermoter again; the temperature seed to be dropping.

Even though reducing the fever physically and eating a peach didn’t seem to be particularly effective, it might still have so small effect.

She nodded in satisfaction.

After a little while, when she asured again.

Song Moting’s temperature had already dropped to 37°.

Jiang Xiaoxiao finally felt relieved.

At dawn, Jiang Xiaoxiao suddenly woke up.

She had been watching over Song Moting, but who would have thought that after being tired all day, sleep would eventually overco her, and she ended up dozing off next to him.

She opened her eyes and was startled.

What if sothing happened to Song Moting while she was asleep?

She doubted soone as irresponsible as herself could have kept him alive last night.

She hurriedly placed her hand on his chest, then moved it to his neck, feeling for his pulse.

Although it was a bit rapid, it was at least still beating.

The temperature was also within a reasonable range.

She sighed with slight relief.

"I won’t... die here, doctor."

His voice carried a hint of teasing, mixed with fatigue.

Jiang Xiaoxiao looked at him in surprise and joy.

"You’re awake? How do you feel?"

Being able to wake up was a good sign.

Song Moting was startled awake from sleep, his pulse rapid, but his muscles remained still.

He rarely slept so deeply, but as soon as he woke up, he rembered last night’s events.

He surveyed his surroundings while secretly reproaching himself.

His body seed to have recovered; at least compared to last night, he could now clearly sense everything except the pain from his wounds, which was not too bad.

Jiang Xiaoxiao was leaning against his pillow, on his right side, her head resting near his pillow.

Her face was pressed against his pillow, her eyes tightly closed, and he saw her ssy hair and pale face.

One of her hands was on his shoulder, tightly holding his shoulder to prevent his body from moving.

The wound made him frown, but his heart felt warm.

Even under these circumstances, she hadn’t forgotten to protect his wound.

The thick hair lay across his cheek, and he could feel her soft skin, her sweet breath.

He took a deep breath slowly, not wanting to wake her.

Her other hand was on his head, but it felt as if it was on his heart, spreading a warm, pleasant feeling throughout his body.

Now he didn’t need to imagine the strange, exciting feeling of touching her; he could genuinely feel her warmth and softness.

Lying there enjoying their touch was an irresistible pleasure.

He gently pulled her hand to his lips for a soft kiss, then tenderly placed it back.

And then, as if under a spell, she woke up.

She opened her drowsy eyes, blinked a few tis, and closed them again.

The darkness of her eyes carried a mysterious laziness, and it was the first ti he had seen her so clearly in the light.

At such a close distance.

And then...

Jiang Xiaoxiao realized that half of her body was numb, and as she tried to get up, she almost fell onto Song Moting’s face.

Just barely managing to avoid it, she reacted quickly, otherwise Jiang Xiaoman would have been mortified today.

"Other than the shoulder pain, it seems pretty good, really good. You took care of all night last night!"

This was an affirmative statent.

Song Moting felt quite apologetic.

Jiang Xiaoxiao rubbed her numb arm, smiling as she spoke.

"Well, it was the right thing to do! You got hurt saving , and if I didn’t take care of you, I’d be heartless, and I’m not that kind of person. Do you need a drink of water?"

Jiang Xiaoxiao had fed him quite a bit of water last night.

Song Moting blushed and shook his head.

What was there to blush about?

Jiang Xiaoxiao wondered.

"Call Gu Dali or even He Aiguo."

Song Moting said softly, a hint of urgency in his eyes.

Jiang Xiaoxiao was puzzled, "What do you need? I can help, no need to bother them. They were shoveling snow off the roof all night, exhausted. He Aiguo even helped with the ice towel last night, running back and forth all night, they’re probably still asleep."

Song Moting was speechless; this was sothing Jiang Xiaoxiao truly couldn’t help him with.

"Just help up. I need to go outside for a bit."

"It’s not ti for you to get up with your wound; it could tear open. What exactly do you need? I can help!"

Jiang Xiaoxiao was not pleased; what could a patient need that he couldn’t say?

Why the secrecy?

Song Moting felt frustrated. How could he say it?

"Just help up. I need to relieve myself."

Jiang Xiaoxiao looked at him blankly, trying to figure out what had turned his face dark, and his once gentle eyes turned stern?

Then, hearing this, she understood.

And giggled aloud.

Goodness, she was a doctor; how could such a basic human need surprise or embarrass her?

"Alright, Brother Song!"

Her playful expression made Song Moting blush bright red.

He knew this would happen.

This is so embarrassing.

That he had to say such things to a woman, he’d never been this embarrassed in his life.

Jiang Xiaoxiao helped him up, and Song Moting felt that he was actually recovering well.

He didn’t feel the dizziness or lightheadedness from blood loss.

Truly miraculous.

He knew what state he was in yesterday.

One night later, he was still this strong.

Jiang Xiaoxiao helped him out, but the bathroom was too far to reach.

The bathroom was a public one, about five hundred ters away.

Song Moting leaned against the wall, and Jiang Xiaoxiao brought him a certain sothing...

She had walked a few ters away, close enough to turn around and see him.

She would be scared if she went further, fearing that Song Moting might faint.

Then she heard the sound of rushing water and beca curious, staring at the glass window of the commune house in front of her. When there was no more sound, she turned to et his expressionless face, and imdiately she blushed and lowered her head.

In a sneaky thought, at least from a dical perspective, his high fever hadn’t damaged his kidneys.

Song Moting tried his best not to make a sound, but ultimately accepted the embarrassing fact.

He couldn’t make no sound at all.

He stood there, his eyelids swollen from the fever, his massive body trembling slightly.

Jiang Xiaoxiao tried her best not to laugh; it would be very rude.

"Let’s go! I’ll help you back in."

Jiang Xiaoxiao reached for him, almost losing her balance under his weight.

"I’m sorry." His breathing was heavy.

"Song Moting, you’ve actually gotten up? Don’t you want to live!"

Gu Dali’s startled voice filled the yard, instantly gathering a dozen people.

Everyone was astounded, watching as Jiang Xiaoxiao struggled to support Song Moting, the two almost holding each other.

"Why don’t you co and lend a hand? I’m about to drop him."

Jiang Xiaoxiao felt like dying; she didn’t realize Song Moting’s weight would almost crush her.

He wasn’t this heavy just now.

Gu Dali and He Aiguo rushed up.

The addition of the two n imdiately relieved Jiang Xiaoxiao.

Finally, they got him back inside.
