Leon had to ask Jet if they could take a break. It was too difficult for him to process the information given by Dibella while walking around. All of this was mind blowing news. The thing that had touched him the most was that when he asked Rebecca to explain a few more things in detail, he was able to find out that during her ti, there was no System!
This was shocking news that changed the way he looked at things. Perhaps Dibella's ti and the battle between Michael and the Gods had marked the end of the Era of Gods. And to usher in a new era where they would not be challenged, the System was brought in. He believed it was an effective way to keep an eye on the progress of everyone, but even then, it must be an absurdly difficult thing to do. What kind of monster could handle such load?
Another thing that pushed Leon to the edge was the fact that Michael was a mortal once upon a ti. The Michael he knew now was a God, but the description of the person in Dibella's tale was exactly the sa as the God that he had t in the ruins in the Desolate Lands.
He was confused. Dibella had been a powerful A rank mage, but after suffering a defeat and punishnt by the Gods, she had regressed into a powerful B rank being. All of her skills had been lost, and she had now beco a dungeon boss. For hundreds of years, she had waited for Michael to co and save her from such a disgraceful fate, but nothing had ever changed. No one had co to her rescue, and most of all, she did not know what had beco of her beloved Darwin.
Leon felt her pain as she recalled her tragic past. She had lost everything she had by rebelling against the Gods. If there was anything that surprised Leon the most, it was that there had even been an organized group that had been capable of standing against the Gods. If they could do it, then that would an that he should be capable of the sa thing.
But first, he needed to think about this a lot deeper. There had been no System during the Era of Gods. That almost certainly ant that the System had to have been implented by the Gods as a way to cap the power and strength that was achievable by the mortals. So, his goal would be to break out of the hold of the System. How he would do that, he had absolutely no idea.
"Is everything alright?" They had been seated for up to ten minutes now and Jet was getting more worried. He feared that Leon's over exertion from the third floor might have been more fatal than they had thought.
"Yeah, I was just thinking of sothing important." Leon replied.
"Sothing... Important?" Jet probed, trying to see if he could get anything out of Leon, but Leon just shook his head. He was not sure if this was sothing he should share with others at this ti. If word got out that he knew sothing from the Era of Gods, then who knew what kind of cataclysmic reaction he would spark. He definitely could not be careless with this information.
But this information made Leon see this world in a new light. Its history and background was rich, and if he wanted to survive in the long term and achieve his goals, then he would need to know more about it. When Divinity's Bout ended, then he would do his best to collect knowledge about the world.
Co to think of it, he had always wanted to travel the world back on Earth, but now, he had a much more exciting reason to beco a traveler, and this world was a hundred tis more exciting than Earth.
"Let's go." When he had recovered from his shock, Leon stood up with Jet, and they continued walking. He pushed the thoughts to the back of his mind so he could focus more. When he survived this bout, then he could delve deeper into that aspect.
Kiiek!
All of a sudden, a strange screech echoed through the tunnel. In the distance, a duo of Skara were approaching. But these two were much more different. Unlike their more ta looking relative, these ones looked fierce and enraged. The bone spears that they held in their grasps made them look even more fearful. But Leon and Jet had seen a lot so far and were not deterred by the fearful visuals on display.
Jet brandished his twin swords, a dark, turbulent wind blowing around it. Space bent and cracked wherever he waved those swords. A black, malevolent fla brewed on Leon's own sword as he charged it with black magic. The Abyss Set appeared over his robes, giving him a boost in his Dark magic aspect.
The two young n turned to exchange a glance as a similar thought crossed their minds. "Let's see who can kill more!" They both exclaid like foolish children before dashing forward, weapons swinging.
The two Skara screeched in anger. Their spears stabbed forward, spinning around in their hands like a drill. The air around the spears twisted and bent as the spears passed through.
Ding!
A spear clashed against Leon's armor, resulting in a flurry of sparks as it tried to break its defenses. But it was not able to do so before the hand that held it was sliced off from the rest of the Skara's body. Leon's sword danced through the air, following the retreating Skara like a hound out for blood, until it severed the monster's head from its neck.
Beside him, Jet flickered like a firefly, appearing and disappearing in the blink of an eye. With the rapid movents, the Skara he was fighting was unable to follow his movents. All it knew was that it felt a sudden sense of detachnt, and that its body was getting distant from its line of sight. Its severed head drew an arc in the air before falling with a squelch and rolling away.
