"What has happened now?" Sensing sothing amiss, Colin instinctively asked the wizard on duty.
"Councilman, both rredith City and Graham City are under divine attack again, and the wizards have rushed to their support," the wizard on duty replied with a look of concern on his face.
"I see..." Colin nodded, then suddenly thought of sothing and asked, "What about the Teiya Strait? Has there been any activity there?"
"The Teiya Strait... nothing has been heard of any activity there..."
Colin couldn’t help but knit his brows.
Compared to rredith City, the Teiya Strait was geographically more forward. It was sowhat understandable that the divine beings could use so thod to bypass it and catch rredith City off guard the first ti.
But now, for the second ti, even with the wizards on alert, they chose to attack rredith City directly... Didn’t they fear being caught in a pincer attack by the wizards defending the Teiya Strait and those from rredith City?
A shadow fell over Colin’s heart, but he quickly shook his head.
The divine beings’ intentions were so clear that if he could think of this issue, then the wizards closer to the war front with access to more information had no reason not to consider it.
He hastened out of the council hall.
Perhaps due to the series of bad news from the war, the streets of Neustadt had also beco quite deserted.
After flying for a while, Colin suddenly heard an intense argunt below, followed by a plaintive explanation:
"Wheat is now limited to a set amount per person, these are the new orders, I can’t do anything about it..."
Food was being rationed?
Colin glanced below, where a large crowd had gathered outside a grain store, and a middle-aged man in a black robe stood nervously in front, sweating even in the depth of winter.
Shaking his head, he looked away and flew at the maximum allowed speed towards the outskirts of the city.
Once he left the city, he called forth Silver Stream and sped at full pace, returning to the Tilai Plain.
...
The next day.
Just as Colin arrived at the warehouse housing the golden Insect Monsters, new information also ca through.
"The divine beings are suspected to have bypassed the front-line defenses from the deep sea... The wizards voluntarily gave up the Teiya Strait and have established a more extensive and massive defensive line on the borders of rredith... Graham City’s defensive forces are insufficient, and support is being recruited from all Wizard Cities, each wizard going will receive resources subsidies according to their abilities."
Morning sunlight stread through the high windows of the warehouse, casting bright yellow patches on the floor, as Colin stood by the golden Insect Monsters, calmly reading the latest ssage from the Supre Council.
"How is Tilai today? Are many wizards still fleeing to Miracle City?"
After reading the ssage, he turned to Lillian.
"There are still quite a few," Lillian sighed. "Partly because of the war, and partly because the various Schools in Miracle City have lowered their entrance examination standards, hoping to attract more wizards."
"I understand, no need to worry. As long as there isn’t a large-scale population drain, the departure of a few wizards is no cause for concern."
Colin turned to look at the golden Insect Monster before him, then said:
"For the coming period, I’m afraid I’ll need to go into seclusion, it might take a week or even a month... Unless there is so crisis that cannot be dealt with, try not to disturb .
Please relay this to Atbolde, Shelley, and Jennifer as well."
Atbolde was busy dealing with the daily administrative affairs of the Tilai Plain with Jennifer, while Shelley was continuing to test the spring harvest machinery that would be needed in just over a month.
Lillian nodded but hesitated for a mont before asking, "Will there be danger?"
"No, don’t worry," Colin assured with a smile, shaking his head. "Even if it’s not successful, I should be able to conclude my seclusion before the spring harvest at the latest."
"Mhm." Lillian cast one last glance at Colin before leaving the warehouse.
Silver light radiated from Colin, and the Silver Chamber unfolded, instantly transforming the warehouse into a tightly sealed laboratory.
The distant wheat fields, already slightly golden, rustled in the wind, stirring into waves of gold, hinting at the approaching harvest.
Standing outside, Lillian silently encouraged herself, "Hang in there, Lillian. Although I can’t enhance my strength in the short term, there are still opportunities to further improve those wheat seeds, and Colin ntioned rice, for which we’ve already found similar seeds..."
In fact, Lillian, particularly after purifying her High Level Elf Bloodline, was already considered exceptionally talented compared to the average wizard.
But compared to Shelley, a natural-born Elf, she still fell short, let alone compared to Colin.
However, when it ca to Talent in botany, few could match her.
...
Inside the warehouse.
Colin caressed the gleaming golden crystal in his hand, silently reflecting on what the Supre Councilman had said to him yesterday.
First, there was the enormous black sphere.
The Supre Councilman seed surprised when he ntioned it, but afterward told him that there was no need to pay it any further attention.
He said it was likely a mysterious creature accidentally born in the cave that should pose no threat to wizards in the short term... so it was left there for the ti being.
Given the ongoing war, it seed there were no resources to spare to deal with it.
Besides, since no one knew how long that black sphere had been deep in the cave without showing any sign of danger, it likely wouldn’t cause any problems anyti soon.
