A few years ago.
"Rember to tell Yu Fangzhu to never let anyone else see this until the right ti," Concubine told her and closed the box again.
Xiaofei replied, "Why not just tell this to him now? Why keep it a secret from him?"
Concubine Xian laughed and shook her head as if she just heard sothing worth laughing at. "That boy is still too wet behind his ears. Do you think I don't know the truth behind his prestige? He is my son and I know him better than anyone. Nothing escapes my eyes."
Concubine Xian knew everything. She knew that all her son's achievents were not truly his to begin with. He might have so talents beneath that foolish mind and good-looking face, but compared to what he was putting on the table that ti, his mother was certain that he wasn't doing all the thinking and actions.
There must be soone who was behind him and naturally, the only person who could do all these was the woman before her..
Concubine Xian smiled at Xiaofei, who was getting the chills. The smile concubine Xian had put on her face was bone-chilling but there was a sense of her being proud that her son sohow found a shadow who could do all the thinking and our him to the dais where the crown was.
At that ti, Xiaofei couldn't say a thing after being found out. She was scared that concubine Xian would know all her plans. The plans she even hid from her own husband, Yu Fangzhu.
Thankfully, the older woman didn't say a word nor captured her as she continued to speak, "Anyways, you've seen the contents of the box now. You must also rember that your life will cease along with your loved ones when a word of this cos out of your mouth."
"Yes, Madam." Xiaofei could only bow her head to agree.
At that ti, Xiaofei didn't have any idea what was the importance of the items inside the box. She rely thought that it was sothing that was passed down to the descendants of concubine Xian's family and nothing more.
But that was until she found out that every item inside the box could bring down the entire empire in one stroke.
Not only that, but it would also cause a drastic change in the world. It would also beco the destruction of the current reigning royal family.
And one might even die if people were to know where it was and who possessed it.
Thinking about it again, this was also the main reason why Yu Fangzhu killed her.
Other than finding out that she killed concubine Xian, Yu Fangzhu guessed that she got her hands on the box and hid it sowhere.
Unfortunately, he was stupid enough to kill her slowly by torturing her. He didn't even know that she was the only person in this world who knew how to open it and what was exactly inside the box.
Laughing lightly, Lin Xiaofei raised her hand to touch the gun that was lying inside the box. The cold surface was oozing its deadly aura. This gun might not be rare in the Western regions and empires, this deadly weapon wasn't yet exported to the Four Kingdoms; Zheng, Chu, Great Liang, and Rei.
Because the trading of goods was abolished so years ago, no one has really exported guns and since the empires in the western regions weren't very willing to let the Four Kingdoms have their hands on these deadly weapons.
One must always guard themselves against potential enemies. That must be what the west empires were thinking when they decided to not export these guns.
But surprisingly, Qu Xing Xu sohow got his hands on a far more deadlier weapon than a gun. Bombs.
This only made her wonder what was his relationship to the western countries and who he really is. His purpose was also unclear, making one thought that he might be the most terrifying predator that was lurking in the empire.
"Was this a mistake?" Lin Xiaofei was talking about her being involved with Qu Xing Xu.
She was still uncertain about getting herself involved with him. Who knows if he was the oriole behind the mantis and cicada? (T/n: basically ans being unaware that while pursuing sothing, a bigger predator was watching.)
Lin Xiaofei softly put down the gun to the side and went for the scroll.
She checked it first to see if it has been tampered with and whether it was replaced. One can never be too sure about everything.
After checking that the scroll was safe and secured with the tie around it, and wasn't touched by anyone else, she started to unroll it.
Aside from the gold dust that was sprinkled on the parchnt, indicating that the person who wrote this was of the highest status, there were remarkable brownish stains all over the scroll.
It wasn't randomly put as well as these stains ford words. Imdiately, one would be able to tell that soone used his or her blood to write these words.
But why would anyone use their blood to write instead of the commonly used ink? It didn't look as if the person wrote it in a hurry as the words were written well and with great elegance as if soone who was educated enough wrote it.
This only made Lin Xiaofei think that the person already knew that his doom was about to co and did this beforehand.
Combined with the bloodletter and soaring dragon token, Lin Xiaofei, obviously knew who wrote it.
It was the previous emperor, Emperor Xiyin.
As for what words did he write in the scroll…
Only Lin Xiaofei knew what was really was said in the scroll.
Keeping her mouth shut, Lin Xiaofei didn't need to reread the words written on the parchnt as she already knew what it ant and how important it was.
So, she decided to touch the token and admire its beauty once again.
However, she didn't have ti to admire it for long as a knocking sound was heard from the door that connected her room and Qu Xing Xu's.
