"Are you now?" Lin Xiaofei narrowed her eyes infinitesimally as if she could pulverize Gu Yan with just a look
And honestly, Gu Yan wished he would too. If him being crushed to dust would an getting away from what's about to co to him and his master later, he wouldn't mind it at all.
"Yes, madam." Gu Yan continued to dig his grave.
A quicker death would be better than suffering from the wroth of a lady capable of bending his master to smithereens and turn him into a bride-slave.
Gu Yan was no fool in irritating Lin Xiaofei. This was his tactic to get ahead of his master. The sooner he ets his doom, the lesser the pain. He can only hope that his master's ending would be painful enough to make his senses return and apologize to Lin Xiaofei for fooling her into signing a marriage contract with him.
But according to his master's personality, he'll probably jump and ride on his cloud nine while he was suffering under his bride.. A true bride-slave indeed.
Lin Xiaofei wasn't buying this steward's words and had a deadpanned look on her face. She suddenly wondered whether all the people inside the Qu residence lost their marbles because of Qu Xing Xu.
Thinking like that, Lin Xiaofei found a reasonable answer to how she was feeling yesterday. That's right. It must be because of that.

A smile tugged her lips. Extrely satisfied that she got an answer to her ntal problem and internal troubles, Lin Xiaofei turned around with a bright smile on her face that could make the soldiers in war leave their swords, bows, and spears hanging in the air.
Gu Yan, who has been praying for his doom to co sooner than later, saw his madam turning around. He found her movent strange and wanted to ask. However, Lin Xiaofei was already a few ters away from him.
What in the world just happened?
Is she really leaving just like that?
But why? Did his lie work that well for her to leave just like that?
So parts of Gu Yan told him to force her to be done with it and let him et his maker ahead of his master. But the bigger part of him couldn't help but feel relieved that he passed the whirling storm unscathed.
But then, again. His fear for what's about to co when Lin Xiaofei finally found out the truth would be more frightening. Besides, his actions today were extrely suspicious. Stupid! Why did he have to act so suspiciously?! Now, he won't be able to escape and put all the bla on his master!
In despair, Gu Yan returned to his quarters with a forlorn look in his face. He plodded towards his wooden bed and brought his guisar to his lap before starting to gently and tenderly cleaned it.
Still outside the garden, Shen Mo looked to his left and right but found no one. He scratched his head and frowned.
Where's his young miss?
He clearly told the maid nad Lu Yi that he wishes to et Lin Xiaofei for an urgent matter.
However, even after waiting for a bit longer, there was no sight of his young miss who drove him to work like a horse on a battlefield.
Did she forget about him? This thought wasn't unlikely but Shen Mo wanted to rest. He had been skulking in and out of the Imperial Palace, putting his life in stake under Lin Xiaofei's orders.
And not only that, he had to go back and forth from the palace of the Empress to the ho of Prince Jing to get so information that could be useful to Lin Xiaofei. Unfortunately, he was held up several tis as every ti he would get closer to the people he was supposed to follow, he was almost found out by soone.
Unbeknownst to him, these 'soone' that he was talking about was employed under the man who will beco his young miss' husband.
Anyway, what was happening here? Shen Mo couldn't stop his eyebrows being drawn together as he looked around him. He certainly heard Lin Xiaofei getting betrothed to soone when he ca back to the Lin residence expecting that she would be there. However, when he ca to report, her courtyard was empty and only so of the servants keeping the courtyard clean were there.
He had to ask one of the servants and found out that Lin Xiaofei has already left ho and went to live in her fiance's residence. Saying he was shocked at this revelation would be the understatent of the century.
He was beyond that. He almost thought that the world was finally ending and everyone was dood. First, he was in disbelief then, mortified. And lastly, he sympathizes with the groom and sends his regards, hoping he will survive.
However, the surprises didn't end there.
The man who happened to be his young miss' groom was the Duke of Xin, the God of War!
Suddenly, Shen Mo felt like he wanted to faint and wake up to see that this was all a lie.

"Why is young miss back so soon?" Bai Lu asked with two innocent eyes staring at her young lady. "Did sothing happen?"
Pausing in her steps, Lin Xiaofei said, "Nothing. Don't disturb while I am inside my room. As for the guard who ca looking for ... Tell him to go to Bai Hua Lou and et with Miss Chu Chu."
The other mids didn't understand what she was talking about and who was this 'Chu Chu' however, Bai Lu understood the orders instantly and stood up to leave. She was the maid who went to Bai Hua Lou with her young miss while disguising themselves as n, how can she easily forget that event in her life?
"I'll go and tell guard Shen Mo imdiately."
