Chapter 839: Chapter 851: Midnight Terror
"Adrian, there’s something I need to tell you."
"What?"
Because Adrian blindly trusted Elliot, Sienna hadn’t planned on telling him about the suspicious powder found in Melanie’s room. But now that Adrian sees Elliot’s true colors, Sienna decided not to keep it from him.
"I had Sally search Melanie’s room and found some suspicious powder. I suspect it’s poison. I’ve placed those items in the safe, and I’ll have Reggie test the ingredients tomorrow."
Adrian abruptly lifted his head, "Are you saying Melanie is poisoning me?"
"I don’t know. It’s all just my speculation. I’m just giving you a heads-up. If Melanie indeed did this, then ruin her."
"I won’t have mercy on a woman trying to poison my husband!"
Adrian thought for a moment, then nodded, "I understand."
Sienna looked at Adrian, continuing her persuasion, "I know how you feel about the Carpenter Family. You’ve given them your heart, but how have they treated you?
Even if you owe them, you saved Elliot’s life, and I saved his life too. What you owed the Carpenter Family has long been repaid.
Moreover, that Elliot is an imposter!
If there are things you can’t harden your heart about, I’ll come forward to do them. After all, my hands are already stained with blood."
"I’m sorry..."
Adrian stroked her hand, lightly kissing it, as if trying to kiss away the blood on his hands.
"Pull yourself together, we have lots to do next."
"I know."
...
Once Reggie installed all the lab equipment, Sienna immediately sent the powders from Melanie’s room for testing.
The drug composition was complex, but testing revealed trace amounts of ****** toxins, along with other neurotoxins.
Melanie brought these things to the Desmond Family, giving Sienna reason to suspect her malicious intentions.
As expected, at dinner time, Melanie couldn’t resist making her move.
She personally cooked a fish for Adrian, and Melly saw her mixing the drugs into the water and sprinkling it onto the fish.
At the dinner table, Sienna and Adrian were having dinner as Melanie arrived, all dolled up.
"Sixth Brother, I made this flounder with my own hands, taste it and see how it is?" Melanie brought the dish over to their table.
Adrian didn’t even glance at Melanie, saying, "Just put it there."
"Sixth Brother, you don’t look well recently, are you sick? This flounder is very nutritious, eat more of it." Melanie gently said to Adrian, acting as if Sienna wasn’t even there.
"Do you have anything else?" Adrian finally gave Melanie a look, but it was a cold stare.
Adrian previously took care of and indulged the Carpenter Family excessively, but now he was equally disgusted!
"Sixth Brother, I fell into the river today, did you know?"
Adrian didn’t know, nor did he care, he just responded with a casual ’hmph,’ eager to send this woman away.
If Sienna hadn’t asked him not to tear things up with the Carpenter Family, he wouldn’t have subjected himself to such grievance.
"Sixth Brother, I almost drowned in Mirror Lake today..." Melanie said pitifully as she looked at Adrian, "She... she actually didn’t let people save me... Boohoo..."
Sienna was entirely unaffected, eating and drinking as usual, her confident demeanor further infuriating Melanie.
"Sixth Brother, if I continue to stay, I might just lose my life..."
Adrian replied, "In that case, go back to the Carpenter Family tomorrow!"
Melanie choked, not expecting Adrian to say this. She had fought hard to move in, there’s no way she’s leaving so easily.
She hadn’t made Adrian fall in love with her yet.
"...Sixth Brother, my father entrusted me to you. If I go back, aren’t you afraid my father will blame you?"
Melanie knew Adrian listened to his father, so she tried using Elliot to pressure Adrian.
This trick might have worked when Adrian was in the dark.
Now, it’s ineffective.
"Melanie, what do you want?" Adrian stared coldly at Melanie, with no trace of empathy left for her.
Even the best person can’t sympathize with someone trying to poison them, let alone someone who’s not good!
