Chapter 830: Chapter 846: Coward Afraid of His Wife

Elliot Carpenter saw Adrian Desmond, snorted coldly from his nose, and reproached,

"Adrian, you’re increasingly disregarding me, your uncle. I came specifically to find you, and you made me wait for so long?"

Adrian explained politely, "I’m sorry, I’ll make sure to be more attentive next time. Uncle, what are you here for?"

"The woman in your family can’t tolerate Melanie, and I’ve given up. I asked you to help introduce some good men to Melanie. How’s that coming along?"

Adrian put away his smile, fiddling with the ring on his ring finger, "Uncle, some of our relatives and friends are aware of my history with Melanie. I don’t think I’m suited to be a matchmaker."

"You also know she was once your wife. Now you have a wife and a child, while Melanie is still all alone. Can your conscience bear that?"

"Uncle, most of the people I know are already married, and there aren’t many suitable ones. You know a lot of people too, why not help find one for Melanie among them?"

"Adrian, I understand now!" Elliot Carpenter was completely angry.

"..."

"Adrian, all my care for you was for nothing. You’ve grown wings; I can’t control you anymore. Whatever Sienna Johnson says, you just listen to her. Adrian, are you even a man?"

Once again, Elliot Carpenter brought up past feelings, and Adrian started losing patience. He knew he owed them, but in his mind, everything he could do for them, and could not do for them, he had already done.

The situation reached a stalemate.

Adrian pressed his lips together in silence, and Elliot Carpenter said nothing either. This state lasted about ten minutes until Elliot Carpenter spoke first.

"I’m going on a trip soon to visit some old friends, and I can’t feel at ease leaving Melanie alone at home. Let her stay at your place for a while?"

"..."

"Drive, go to the Carpenter Family, and pick up Melanie." Elliot Carpenter made the decision for Adrian directly.

"Uncle, I have several properties in Abyanabad. Why not let Melanie choose one to stay in?" If she stays at home, wouldn’t Sienna Johnson raise hell with him?

"Are you saying my daughter, Elliot Carpenter’s daughter, has nowhere to live? Do you have to offer her a place?"

"Uncle, that’s not what I mean!"

Elliot Carpenter snorted, "If your father were alive and saw you become such a coward afraid of his wife, wouldn’t he die of anger?

We Abyanabad men mean what we say, and a daughter is just a toy! If she’s disobedient, you hit her until she obeys.

If you can’t be ruthless, I’ll do it as the elder!

I refuse to believe I can’t handle a woman!"

"I’m not afraid of her, I just love her!" How could he bear to hit her? There’s barely enough time to care for her.

"Hmph! This matter is decided!"

...

Adrian said he would be back soon, but it was already ten o’clock, and Sienna Johnson couldn’t hold back from yawning repeatedly.

"Madam, do you want to rest first?" Sally said.

"No, I’ll wait a little longer."

"Then I’ll go to the front to see if Sixth Master is back?"

"Alright."

Sally went to the front yard and saw Housekeeper Adolph Desmond. She walked over and asked, "Uncle Desmond, is Sixth Master back?"

"He’s back." Adolph Desmond sighed.

"Where is Sixth Master now? Madam is still waiting for him."

"Sixth Master is with Miss." Adolph Desmond sighed again, and Sally looked at him curiously, "Uncle Desmond, what’s wrong? Why are you sighing?"

"I feel sorry for Sixth Master. He’s emotionally driven, yet none of them understand him, and they even blame him. These days, it’s hard to be a good person."

Sally listened, confused, as someone called Adolph Desmond away.

"What is Uncle Desmond talking about?"

Sally continued walking forward, and as she passed the front hall, she could hear arguing inside.

"Brother, what are you thinking? How can you let Melanie Carpenter stay at our house?" Paige Desmond said.

"Uncle said I’m going away, and he’s worried about Melanie, so she will stay at our house for a while. What can I say?"

"..."

"Didn’t you have a good relationship with Melanie before? Why is your relationship with the Carpenter Family so strained now?" Adrian thought of Sienna Johnson and felt a headache coming on, "Even if it’s just an ordinary relative staying for a few days, she shouldn’t have a problem with that."

Paige Desmond finally understood why Sienna Johnson was too upset to eat, "Brother, what’s happened to you lately? You’re not yourself anymore."

"..."

"You know how much Sister-in-law minds Melanie Carpenter, yet you let her stay with us. Have you considered Sister-in-law’s feelings?"

"I’ve thought about it; Sienna and I will go back to the island tomorrow. If Melanie wants to stay, she can stay here."

Adrian never intended for two women who couldn’t stand each other to live together.

"Brother, Sienna Johnson is the mistress of Desmond Manor! In Abyanabad, the women run the household affairs.

You let someone stay without Sister-in-law’s consent; where does that leave her dignity?"

Adrian said angrily, "Then what do you want me to do?

Uncle pressures me with his status; am I supposed to be an unfilial man because I’m afraid of a woman?"

His nose felt a rush of heat, and Adrian abruptly got up and left with big strides.

"Brother..."

Adrian left in a hurry, heading to the nearest bathroom, where he saw his nose was bleeding again.

He rinsed with cold water, watching the bright red blood flow in the white sink. Adrian felt dizzy; he tightly gripped the sink to keep himself from falling.

He looked at his reflection in the mirror, his expression somewhat confused. Recently, his mind often felt unclear, and many words slipped out without thought.

Actually, that wasn’t what he meant...

Adrian’s nose bled again; he found that whenever he strained himself thinking about something, not only would his head hurt, but it would also lead to nosebleeds like now.

Could it be due to poisoning?

However, even when he went for check-ups, nothing was found wrong.

"Sixth Master, are you inside?" Sally called out.

"What’s the matter?"

"Madam has been waiting for you. When are you going back?"

Adrian looked at his endlessly bleeding nose. With Sienna’s suspicious nature, if she saw him like this, wouldn’t she be frightened?

"Tell Madam to go to sleep first. I have some matters and will need to go out later."

"Yes!"

Adrian tilted his head back, emptying his mind to stop thinking. After a while, the nosebleed stopped.

Adrian got up, feeling dizzy again, and he supported himself against the wall for a moment until he regained clarity.

"Damn it!"

Adrian rested a bit longer, looking as if nothing had happened, then walked out.

Marion was about to go rest but was surprised to see Adrian coming out again, "Sixth Master, it’s so late. Are you going out?"
