Chapter 789: Chapter 821: Your Brother Abducted My Woman
Barnes Smythe was clever. He found out that Maxwell Young had a good relationship with his wife and deeply cared for his son. So, Barnes Smythe didn’t go after Maxwell Young directly.
Barnes Smythe kidnapped Maxwell Young’s wife and child, then left a note for Xavier Young with their location, letting Xavier Young come and find them himself.
"Barnes, this looks like a trap, do you think Maxwell Young will fall for it?" Sabrina Conner glanced at the mother and son in the back seat, bound hand and foot, their mouths covered, and asked uncertainly.
"But Sixth Master said we should bring back all three, and we’ve only brought back two..."
"Don’t worry, Maxwell Young will come after them," Barnes Smythe said confidently.
If he doesn’t come, then Maxwell Young is a coward, ignoring his wife and child.
"Umm..." The person in the back was still struggling. Barnes Smythe turned his head, pulled out a sharp dagger, and threatened, "Behave, or I’ll slit your son’s throat and let him bleed out."
The woman quieted down, clinging tightly to her son, using her body to protect him.
Barnes Smythe leaned his chin on the back of the seat, watching the woman, seeing how terrified she was but still pretending to be strong for her child’s sake, making his heart twinge a little.
He was an orphan; he didn’t know who his parents were. His memory of his mother was vague...
"Hey, Barnes, what are you doing? Don’t tell me you fancy that woman?" Sabrina Conner joked as she noticed Barnes staring at her.
"Tch... she’s not even as good-looking as Auntie Agatha." Barnes Smythe retracted his gaze, sat in the passenger seat, and stared straight ahead.
...
Though Barnes Smythe and Sabrina Conner seemed unreliable, they were somewhat capable. By noon the next day, Barnes and Sabrina brought the people over.
In the camp’s tent,
the woman mustered up the courage to ask, "Sir, what exactly do you want to do?"
The woman, untied, hugged her son, shivering as she looked at the man in the tent, handsome yet exuding malice.
Adrian Desmond was polishing a dagger that gleamed with a cold light, ignoring them.
"Mommy, I’m scared."
"Don’t be afraid, Joy, Daddy will come to rescue us soon." The woman comforted her son, but her body trembled uncontrollably as she watched Adrian polish the dagger, growing colder with every glance.
She didn’t know what her husband had done to provoke these people, and it seemed none of them were easy to deal with.
"Sixth Master, your lunch is ready." Marion brought Adrian Desmond’s lunch over.
Marion was the one who cooked for Adrian Desmond, always putting in utmost effort. Not only did he change the dishes every meal, but he also adorned them, each serving on fine porcelain with beautiful patterns.
They were outdoors, for goodness sake!
This left the men who squatted on the ground with their food tins, eating wherever they could find a spot, feeling quite off-balanced.
This was preferential treatment; it was discrimination!
Marion had prepared a complete and balanced meal for Adrian, setting it on the table and arranging it, saying, "Sixth Master, please eat. The food won’t taste good once it gets cold."
"Hmm."
Marion frowned. Lately, Sixth Master seemed to have a poor appetite. He racked his brains to cook meals, just hoping Adrian Desmond would take a few bites.
"Sixth Master, please eat a little. You skipped breakfast too."
Having finished polishing his dagger, Adrian began to clean his gun. Marion stood beside him, not leaving.
"Mommy, I’m hungry." The little boy called out, carried by the aroma of food.
"Joy, be good..." She had no courage to ask them for food, only looking at them with pleading eyes, hoping they would give something for her child to eat.
But those two seemed to have hearts of stone, ignoring her completely.
"Mommy, I’m hungry, I’m hungry?"
Adrian Desmond was bothered and looked up at the crying child, who resembled Maxwell Young.
"Do you want to eat?"
The child’s mother hugged him tightly, whispering, "Children get hungry easily; he hasn’t eaten since morning."
"I have no appetite. If you’re not afraid I’ve poisoned it, give it to him then."
Adrian Desmond’s words frightened the woman into not daring to feed her child.
"He won’t eat, he won’t eat..."
"Mommy, I’m hungry, I want to eat."
"Shut up. If you don’t behave, Mommy will get mad." The woman scolded her son harshly.
The little boy was probably spoiled at home, never scolded or beaten, so when he saw his mom being fierce, he shed tears in grievance.
"Sixth Master, you haven’t eaten since breakfast; please have some." Marion urged.
Adrian had no appetite; he only wanted to consume Sienna Johnson whole, leaving not a single bone.
The daggers and guns Adrian used habitually, all steeped in blood, emanated a chilling aura.
Adrian was about to kill again, and this time he would strike first.
"Sixth Master, Maxwell Young is here."
"Husband?" The woman’s face lit up with delight as if she had been rescued, "Joy, your dad’s here, your dad has come to save us."
"Let him in!"
"Yes."
Maxwell Young walked into the large tent, his eyes first falling on his wife and child. He quickly went over to embrace them, asking, "Are you both okay?"
"No."
"Dad, I’m hungry..."
"Be good, we’ll eat when we get home."
"I’m really hungry now. I want to eat right now?" the little boy said petulantly.
Maxwell Young doted on the boy; usually, he would satisfy any request that wasn’t excessive. But now, he sternly refused his son.
"Joy, be obedient!"
The little boy, feeling wronged, clung to his mother’s leg, tears streaming down.
Seeing his wife and child unharmed, Maxwell Young released them and looked at the man sitting there, whose face seemed unchanged. His eyes reddened slightly as he called, "Sixth Master..."
"Maxwell Young, years ago your brother seduced my woman, and I let it go for your sake. But now, he’s directly abducted her.
You promised me back then you’d never let your brother bother Mai again, but you didn’t manage to restrain him.
So now you tell me, what should be done with your wife and child?" Adrian Desmond spoke slowly.
"What?" Maxwell Young was utterly stunned.
"Xavier has abducted my woman!" Adrian repeated.
Maxwell Young’s hair stood on end. He spoke seriously, "Sixth Master, I didn’t know Xavier had abducted Madam."
Over the years in Abyanabad, Maxwell had dabbled in small business ventures. Although not wealthy, he had a lovely wife and child. His brother, however, moved to Himakati for drug trafficking, despite his repeated dissuasion.
No wonder his brother refused to marry over the years; he hadn’t forgotten Mai.
That foolishly daring boy!
